Overview

About the property

A weekly rental Cabin with 2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms Close To The Shore

Just beyond Prospect Harbor, past the lighthouse and near the end of a private road is Antler Run, nestled in the quiet of the evergreens and yet near all the Schoodic peninsula has to offer: birds and wildlife, lobster pounds, organic farms, artists galleries, lighthouses, and of course, nearby Acadia National Park.

The cabin itself has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. Inside the cabin, the living area includes an open kitchen and continues onto the front deck and grounds. The kitchen is fully equipped, ready for preparing the farm- and ocean-fresh foods that are readily available nearby.

The upstairs bedroom and bath comprise the entire upstairs, with a balcony that looks through the woods and out to sea. The downstairs bedroom has views of the moss-covered ground into the woods. There are several deer trails to wander. We provide towels and bed linens.

About Joan

We've been coming to the area since the early 1980's and can't imagine being anywhere else in the summer and early fall. Schoodic is the quiet part of Maine: fresh air, ocean breezes, organic produce, walking trails, picnics on the shore and gorgeous scenery are some of the things we love about the area. When it's too cold to be in Maine we return to north Florida, where we've owned a Bed and Breakfast since 1992. We've had a summer rental in Maine since 2002.

Joan purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Joan chose Acadia

We happened upon this property by chance, tho it's only 4 miles from our own place, and fell in love with it. After a complete renovation, it is now an ideal setting for visiting Maine. The quiet is amazing, and the deer and other animals that visit are a delight. We provide plenty of books and comfortable places for reading, both inside and out, as well as games and puzzles for rainy days.

Acadia National Park, Schoodic Point, just five miles away and known as the quiet side of the park, is a wonderful place to spend days. The villages of Gouldsboro, with their shops and galleries, are nearby, as are Jones Pond and several organic farms.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is a cozy place to spend time. The front deck, with table and chairs for dining and a wicker sofa for lounging, is a perfect place to watch the world (and a few deer) go by. The moss covered grounds invite walking and the upstairs balcony is a great place to watch night turn to day. Enjoy all the peninsula and beyond have to offer, and return to the quiet of the cabin and the night sky of Maine.

It's a grand area for photography and painting. It's a fun drive or ferry ride to Bar Harbor; Campobello Island is to the north past small towns, wildlife preserves, and the 44th parallel, half way between the equator and north pole.

The best Stay i've had in a while

  • 5 of 5

When we drove off to maine, my family and i where SO excited although I was a bit scared. I didnt know how the cabin would work out for us but turned out i had no reason to be afraid for any reason. the waves where moderate and nicely big. i would reccommend playing in the water after 6 or 7 because the waves get big. bring lawn chairs so you may enjoy the ocean breeze.I'd definitely reccommend this for a wedding, sightseeing or a family get away because you can make lots of memories here. car is suggested by me.

Quite, relaxing, charming - dreams

  • 5 of 5

I just returned home from the most splendid week in Maine. Much thanks to the owners of this home. It is in a perfect location: grocery, restaurants, harbors, library, etc. all within biking/driving distance.

You can listen to the ocean waves 100+ yards away without getting the cool breeze straight from the ocean. The lot is protected in the most lush pine woods with a brilliantly intoxicating aroma.

We spent mornings on either the upper or lower deck with a cup of coffee listening to the birds and waves. Days, we explored schoodic point, the various harbors, a local winery, and other such places. Evenings we played games, grilled, and relaxed around the home.

I debated between a few homes in Maine to stay at...I certainly picked the right one! Just what I needed for a week.

Owner's Response: It's always nice to have people stay at our cabin in the woods and love it as much as we do! We've been coming to the Schoodic peninsula for over 30 years, and are thrilled to have a place we can share that is so warmly received.
