Close to Town
The house is walkable to downtown, but along a road that can get a little busy during the day. The shoulder is pretty narrow but you get to sidewalks quickly.
Large house with nice views
Very large house with nice views out of every window. Very comfortable beds, close to town.
Charming base for exploring the area
The house is comfortably rustic, and we enjoyed our stay. The pond out back is a great asset—we saw great blue herons fishing there in the mornings!
lovely house even better than description
My grown up family enjoyed this warm cosy house. It was wonderful to sit out around the pond.
Great Location and Value
The house is in a great location for travelling around the area. There was more than enough room for all of us on a business trip to spread out. It was clean but a bit musty. There was also a lack of basic supplies such as paper towels and trash bags. Having said that I would stay here again.
We are glad you had a nice stay at our home and welcome you to visit in the future.
It was raining very, very hard during your stay. The fireplace sometimes has a musty smell when there are storms. We can't control Mother Nature.
Sorry you were not able to find enough paper towels and garbage bags. They are kept in the pantry.
Our number and our handymans number are available to all guests during their stay if they have any questions or need help with something. I wish I knew your concerns and would have taken care of them immediately.
Good location - roomy
Property is good as a base and has plenty of space. It needs a bit of effort to make it cozy, and a warm fire, flowers and music definitely help. Property has kept original charm and fixtures, and has a great view of the pond at the back. Although on the road, it is not a bother, and is a great location half way between Woodstock and Bearsville. No path on the road, so not ideal to walk/run on when busy, especially with children, but fine when not. Plenty of good restaurants/entertainment close by when we went (Labor Day weekend). Property might benefit from some investment and maintenance here and there but overall fine, just don't expect high end fixtures/furnishings.
Welcome to the Hudson Valley! The Hudson Valley is a very unique area 2 hours from NYC. With many activities, events and beautiful landscapes you will never be bored on your visit. Take a hike, enjoy a glass a wine at a local winery, tube down the Esopus or just sit back and enjoy the beauty of being in the country. Woodstock, rated as one of the most famous little towns in America, also has wonderful shops, restaurants and live performances. Don't miss out on visiting our town!!!
