I grew up in Wichita Kansas but had my 2nd and 3rd birthday living here in Hawaii, so I always felt that I came home to my roots. I also have a home in town, Hawaii Kai and frequent back and forth to keep a good eye on my favorite house here on the wind ward side of north shore.
Patty purchased this House in 2004
Why Patty chose Hauula
We wanted the real Hawaii not so many visitors and getting to know what really living in Hawaii is all about here in Hauula. I furnish everything from Paper Towels, TP, Laundry Soap, dish soap,, dishwasher soap! This is the best deal on the North Shore!
What makes this House unique
Across the street from the ocean. Less than 50 steps to water and sand. Occasionally you will find sea shells in the front yard or a spray from the ocean breeze! You can actually wade out in front of this house to the reef. 'Once in a Life Time' (there is a small opening to the ocean/beach directly in front of the house but you have to find it) Just the cost of renting surf boards and kayaks will more than pay for your stay! I furnish everything you need for your vacation.

A great place to stay!
The first day we were there the stove was not working and I contacted Patty and she responded shortly after. Also the road traffic is not as bad as others make it seem, nor was the ant issue I read about. There were ants the first day, but they're everywhere. I sprayed their trail, let it dry and wiped them away and never had an issue for the remaining 12 days of our stay. Your place made our trip wonderful! Thank you!
Lovely little cottage with everything we could need!
Absolutely loved this place! More than spacious enough for the two of us. Patty was very responsive to the couple of questions I had. Didn't have to ask for anything else because it's stocked with everything you could need. Nicely decorated and cheerful.
Also if you play Pokemon go, you can hit the gym next door from inside the house. 10/10 would stay there again. Thanks Patty!
Good bang for your buck!!
We are Kama'ainas that needed a place in close proximity to Kualoa Ranch. We had lots of wedding preparations, set up and break down and commuting back and forth would have been rough. The house was our home away from home. The front deck was beautifully re-done and the air conditioning worked fine - weather was extra humid and hot outside! The coin-operated washer and dryer on the back deck were convenient as was the gas grill.
Our only MAJOR complaint is that we all got bruised shins and toes from walking into the wooden bed frame in the back room. It protrudes out at the foot of the bed and when the covers are on you can't see it. We kept reminding each other to "watch out" but no one was spared the wrath of the bed frame - LOL!!
Overall, it's a cute little piece of paradise with all the comforts of home. My ohana enjoyed themselves and we hope our next stay will involve more play and less work!!
Wonderful house on the coast
Great beach house. Well stocked kitchen for cooking. On a busy street, but quiet in the rear bedroom. Well supplied for beach fun, i.e. snorkeling equipment, boogie boards, and kayaks. Though water is right across the street (not much beach to launch from), kayaks would have to be transported to a nearby beach. Water was too rough during our stay due to a passing hurricane. No problem with AC or hot water, as previous reviews noted. Easy and scenic ride to either Honolulu or the north shore. Comfortable porches to relax on although the front porch could use some rehab and not much to look at in the rear of the property. Had a wonderful stay at this house on the island.
Thank you for your recent review of my little Hawaiian Beach House. I really like to take good care of my home and keep it it top shape. When I get a complaint, I fix it if I can. I recently put in a new hot water heater along with a new air conditioning in the living room. As of your review, I completely re-built a new deck! I always like to stay abreast of what issues need addressing. Now for the new picture to show you the deck in front and railing is coming soon! Aloha, Patty
Comfortable and just as advertised.
Great little house on the north shore. Nothing fancy but very comfortable as a jump off point for exploring that side of the island. Well furnished. We have small kids and there was not really any safe usable outdoor space (front lawn is lush but used for parking and very close to busy road). Washer and dryer is convenient but be prepared with quarters. Overall no complaints, though!
Decent location, cute place,
Cute place in a convenient location along the main roadway. Don’t expect beachfront, while it is across the street from the water, it’s not the prettiest view as you have a fence and cement barriers in the way but at least it’s there! You have to drive to the beach just a few blocks down the road as there is no water access at this location but that was fine. We did enjoy the use of the kayaks, boogie boards and snorkeling gear so that was a nice amenity. The window A/C in the front part of the house seemed to be on its last legs and never really functioned well so if we ran it the house was hot and muggy and if we left the windows open it was cooler but lots of highway noise and the neighbors house is so close you can literally hear when they start their shower in the morning. My only minor complaint is the owner’s less than speedy response time throughout the whole process...from booking...payment....and even while at the cottage when the oven wouldn’t bake at a temp beyond 375 and I still haven’t heard back from letting her know about the A/C. Most owners I’ve dealt with respond within an hour usually sooner, Patty was usually several hours to even day a couple days at times. She was very nice but the lag in response was frustrating at times. Would I stay here again? Yes as it was a great value and the location worked well for us since we spent a majority of our time in the North Shore, but I do think some improvements should be made such as the A/C and quicker response time.
Dear Party of 5,
After reading your review I wanted to return the favor as soon as possible. Some people are just not satisfied with anything. I counted twenty some emails prior to their arrival. Everything from A-Z. Then wears plunger…how do I get the stove turned on…and then the air conditioning. Then they addressed the highway, the neighbors, things that I do not have control over. Let’s see the beach. I’m not sure what they are talking about. it is just across the street. There is not only an opening for the public but definite access. They said something a fence and scrubs…in their way. It’s Hawaii. If you want it like it is at home, then stay home. Their only real complaint in my opinion was the AC. Had they said something on day one, we would have had it replaced while they were here. Now, $150 a night divided by 5 people is $30.00 a night. That’s a great deal! Did you enjoy the kayaks, surf boards, boogie boards, life jackets, snap in chair for the kayaks and 27 pairs of snorkel gear and fins. Let's see that alone would cost over $200
Polynesian Cultural Center is less than 2 miles away; Lot's of things to do in this area. Good local food nearby; The Mormon Temple about 3 miles up the street in Laie Turtle Bay 15 min. Pipeline & Sunset about 20 min.
