Why Michael Olinger chose Truckee

Wilkie House is ideally located to access the best skiing of North Tahoe. While we enjoy Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley, Northstar and Sugar Bowl are also very close.

Lovely, warm and homey

  • 5 of 5

It was a treat to stay in a place that really felt like the home of a friend -- games, books, and interesting collections, plus a fully equipped kitchen. The beds were comfortable and had down quilts on the ones we used. The owner was incredibly responsive and helpful. And the location was terrific -- one block from shops and restaurants in downtown Truckee (though the mountains of snow made even that an adventure). We would definitely go back.

Charm and convenience

  • 5 of 5

The reviews do much better justice to the house than pictures do/can! Great layout to have a family or medium sized group be able to spread out in the house, and yet good sized areas to reconvene for dinner or in the mornings/evenings. Dishes, wifi and other amenities made it easy to get settled quickly. Short driving distance to grocery and other stores. Walking distance to Truckee allowed everyone to explore on their own time and have dinner and a drink and walk home. Looking forward to returning!

Historic Charmer

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriends and I rented this beautiful house for a girls's night. Its historic charm and details are exquisite in person. The original woodwork, cast iron and glass fixtures are just something you don't see very often, especially in the west. The house is even decorated with historical antiques that enhance it's 1890's beauty! The home is warm and inviting with plenty of room for large groups and cozy enough for small families. I love this house!

Highly recommend this beautiful historic home

  • 5 of 5

Five of us just spent a lovely weekend in this lovely, historic home in the great town of Truckee. Everything was as listed in the information on the property and exceeded our expectations. House sits on a hill with a great view of downtown truckee, the train station and the mountains. Easy walking distance to all restaurants and shops and we had a great time doing just that. Beautifully decorated with comfortable furniture and beds and was well-equipped with everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this property for a wonderful weekend in the Tahoe area.

Amazing Historical Gem

  • 5 of 5

This home is just a short walk to downtown which makes driving completely unnecessary. The decor is amazing, the pictures from the past of the town and it's developement are conversation pieces to be enjoyed. Very spacious and comfortable, the main dining area is a great plece to entertain in old world style. This house is "Truckee" and all she has to offer!

We will definitely be back!

Perfect Birthday Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at this home with a group of 9 over a weekend to celebrate my birthday. It was a great location in a cute, quiet neighborhood and was an easy drive to nearby ski resorts. The house was very spacious and had more than enough beds to accommodate our large group. The check in and check out instructions were very helpful and made the process absolutely painless. I can easily recommend this house and would definitely consider staying again.
