We were skeptical after reading other reviews, but we are so glad we took a chance and booked this house! We loved our stay and the house fit our needs perfectly. The beach was close and you definitely have to try the 2 for 1 deal at Cafe 30A just down the road. We can't wait to come back next year.
Long time 30A vacationer
Worn out. Furniture, kitchen, mattresses, decks, dishes, appliances.... Everything is ready to be replaced. 4 out of 8 visitors got splinters from the dilapidated deck, everyone was bitten by the fire ants that can't be driven off. Pool water was cloudy an three people have swimmers ear, mattresses were the worst I've ever experienced at a rental. Sofa isn't fit for a basement rumpus room. Kitchen is equivalent to dorm furnishings. This is not what I expect for my family favorite beach trip. Save your money and look else where, Rivard has many beautiful properties, this isn't one of them.
Our family had an amazing time! We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Footprints in the Sand! Although the furniture is a little dated as some reviewers have mentioned, it in no way affected our stay! We absolutely loved the house, the pool, and the roof top deck! The house is in a super adorable neighborhood and only a short walk away from the beach. We would definitely stay here again and recommend the home to others! :)
We overpaid for this property
The layout of the house is nice and there is plenty of room. The location was good for us too. The kids really enjoyed the private pool and the roof top deck. It was a short walk to the beach. There have not been any recent updates to the house. It functions fine but the carpets and cabinets need replacing and the interior needs fresh paint. Its not dirty, but it certainly shows its wear and tear. The bedroom TV's did not work and are from the 1990's with a VHS player in them. These could be easily replaced for a very small amount of money. Turn off the land line and replace that expense with new TV's. For the amount charged I would expect and updated home. The house was ok but feel like we really overpaid for what got. Reduce the amount charged if your not going to update the house.
Outdated kitchen, bugs galore, poor management company response
Well, I guess the lesson learned is to never rent a place that doesn't have any reviews, so I'll save you from making our mistake and let you make you own judgment call. On paper this place seems great. Get inside and it's a different story. This is not your relaxing beach retreat. The furnishings look like they are from a thrift store. Huge, upholstered sofas and chairs with disgusting flat throw pillows that haven't been cleaned in ages. Dust up on the media cabinet housing one of smallest TVs sine the 90s (not a huge factor as you're at the beach, not there to watch tv). Each room is painted a different garish color. Someone remarked they must have bought all of the returned gallons on clearance at Home Depot. What ruined it for us most was the kitchen. It was so outdated. The stove was electric - fine, but the burners were lopsided and unable to be adjusted so a pan would sit flat. The countertops were laminate and warped with water damage. The paint was literally peeling off the tired old cabinets. Do you watch HGTV? They would walk into this place and gasp and say, "Complete gut!" We'd walk along the street and glimpse into other homes with normal kitchens with solid surface countertops, stainless appliances, etc. Anything to bring it into the current millennium. The straw that broke the camel's back was the ant problem. Ants were constantly streaming in from the electrical outlet to the right of the sink. They spread all over the sink, counters, and up into the cabinets, so that we had to throw away groceries that were just purchased! The management company didn't seem to care very much. They sent out a guy to spray once (maybe twice). They stopped returning our calls about the problem. My father took a morning off from the beach to actually drive to the management office to speak with someone face to face. All that he was offered was a can of bug spray! Seriously? We were on vacation and we're supposed to sit in that nasty kitchen armed with a can of toxic bug spray to spray all over the counters, sink, stove, cabinets, and floors? I don't think so. Needless to say, we had to eat out the rest of the week. In all fairness, I will disclose that, as recompense, the management company offered my dad $100 refund for our troubles, which doesn't even cover the food that we had to throw out. I wouldn't recommend this house, nor this management company when there are so many other options on 30A.
