Overview

About the property

2 bedroom; 2 bathroom property to sleep 4, near to village square

This picturesque walled property is entered from a secluded street through a door leading to a small courtyard at the bottom of some steps. Just inside this door there is an out-building with a shower/toilet and cave double bedroom. From the courtyard there is an entrance to the main house via the fully fitted kitchen and another directly into the living room

The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge; freezer; cooker; sink and units and has all the cutlery and crockery needed for living. The living room has two sofas, one of which turns into a bed; dining table and 4 chairs; coffee table; armchairs; satellite TV and air conditioning. At the far end there is a door leading into an air conditioned double bedroom with en-suite walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin.

From the courtyard there are steps leading to the terrace, with a gazebo covered in bougainvillea, bench seats and table and 4 chairs. The remainder of the terrace has a washing rotary drier and the solar panel system

Megalachori is a sleepy traditional village and this property is ideally situated, overlooking the small main street leading to the village square. The local bakery is only a few minutes walk, as in the mini market and the main road which reaches the beaches of Perissa and Perivilos in one direction, or the main towns of Pyrgos and Fira in the other direction. There is a regular (or irregular) bus service to these locations, which can be boarded at the bakery. This is also the location where tour buses will collect you if you go on the Volcano, Hot Springs or Sunset tours.

If you choose to try a Diving Introduction day, or even a full PADDI diving course, this is also where you will be collected from.

You could not be better located for reaching all parts of this beautiful island, than Megalachori and this property keeps you near to everything, yet tucked away for relaxation in peace and quiet if that is what you prefer.

Situated in the traditional village of Megalachori (pop 350), near the ferry port of Athinios, this property is a few minutes walk from the main cobbled square of this beautiful and charming village. There you can enjoy two excellent restaurants and the local taverna. There is a village store and bakery nearby and the village is surrounded by vineyards, offering wine tasting. The village boasts one of the most up-market hotels on the island-'The Vadema', which has many V.I.P guests such as Danny DeVito and Angelina Jolie.Their restaurant, bar and pool facilities are available, but be warned-it can be expensive! The village well located on the island, being only 10 minutes away from most tourist spots. The beaches of Perissa and Perivilos, with excellent water and beach sports, only 7km. as is the main town of Fira, where there

are many shops, bars and tourist attractions.Santo Wines (1km) has the best view of the whole island and the most stunning sunsets viewed over a glass of wine

Quaint property, but not very convenient if have car

  • 3 of 5

Mark was an excellent property mgr-he Took us to get our rental car and was helpful with telling us about the area- and let us check in early! The property is a bit musty smelling and the kitchen was not very clean and unfortunately had no coffee maker. But very quaint traditional Greek home in a cute village. you have to park your car kind of far away which was inconvenient when carrying suitcases and groceries. We drove everywhere and explored, I highly recommend having a car as the village was very small with not much to do. Overall a good experience!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. The property was closed for a couple of days before you arrived, which with the extremely hot weather probably caused some mustiness. It should have been aired before your arrival. We don't understand the lack of cleanliness in the kitchen as it was thoroughly cleaned and inspected before your arrival. In the past all the coffee machines were broken by the guests which is why we now only supply caffatiers. You should have been told that you can park the car for a few minutes close to the property for loading and unloading, It is a traditional village and traffic is discouraged in order to maintain peace and tranquillity. It is a village in which to chill and relax. If action is what is needed then Kamari or Perrissa would be a better location. Michael

GREAT PROPERTY!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in Megalochori. It was quite and a very nice apartment. We rented a 4-wheeler to get around and we were in the center of the island so everything was just a quick ride away. Michael was an AMAZING host. He made sure we were comfortable and gave many wonderful suggestions which we tried to get everything he suggested in, but unfortunately we didn't have enough time. Oh well, that's an excuse to come back again.

Thank you so much Michael for making this a wonderful and unforgettable stay for us.

Owner's Response: Pleased you enjoyed your stay but a little confused as when we checked we could find no chipped crockery or missing mugs. Our cleaner also had done her usual thorough job and the place was spotless. We will keep an eye on things.

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

Mike was a excellent host, the place was great and the location perfect. Mike had us picked up at the port and gave us all the information we needed on places to see in Santorini. We really enjoyed the house and felt that we got the most out of one week on Santorini. Many thanks also to Gabriella and Dimitri for their support. It was a really nice experience getting to know everyone we felt like locals. Superb holiday. Thanks!
