About Richard Russell

Purchased and renovated twice by a Las Vegas resident (originally from New York), manager, wife and two beautiful boys currently spend their time equally between Las Vegas, Brian Head and Thailand. As second owner of this property, and having called this residence home for many of the 27 years that we have owned this residence, this is the first time this house has been made available for rent to the public.

The property is owned by Russboworld Utah LLC, a registered company in Nevada. It is managed by the owners of Russboworld Utah.

Because of the time zone difference between Thailand and the USA, it may take a few hours for us to respond to your inquiries. We apologize in advance for the potential delay.

Richard Russell purchased this house in 1989

Why Richard Russell chose Utah

Back in the late 1980's, when most homes in the Brian Head area were of basic design and construction, this home stood out as a very unique and modern design. Besides its excellent location within the actual city limits, which offers the benefits of city snow plowing, electricity, city sewer and water, the siting of the home is unique in that it faces the Brian Head ski area directly, with unrestricted and spectacular views of the mountain directly in front, and the Brian Head valley below. With few residences in the area, the location offers the convenience and safety of city access, yet ignores the common hustle and bustle of other housing areas and condo units. A large deck built off of the second level living room has one of a kind magnificent views of the surrounding area, ski resort, Bristlecone Pond, and Brian Head mountain. Few homes in Brian Head offer these types of views of the ski area. When purchased in 1989, the four story house demonstrated excellent build and design quality which was not common back in those days. Two major renovations led to a redesign of the master suite, with modern Kohler fixtures, showers, and baths, enlarged picture windows, decks, additional rooms, basement renovation, and a complete kitchen redesign and overhaul. An office was installed, four fireplaces, electric and gas heat, with modern appliances throughout. A home theater area was built with a sixty inch LED television, Blu Ray / DVD, satellite TV, and internet.

The ski area, shopping and retail mall, and Bristlecone Pond, is a two minute drive on city plowed streets.

What makes this house unique

One of the few houses that has an overwhelming unrestricted view of Brian Head mountain. It is one of the few houses with a modern contemporary look. Four stories in height, with a modern staircase connecting all levels, it is a masterpiece of design. Two major renovations have improved the property dramatically. Few residences offer the views of the Brian Head ski resort and valley that this home does. It is a unique residence, basically unmatched in the area.

Unique

  • 4 of 5

The property is located on the mountain side in Brianhead Resort. It has a unique charm with it's multilevel style. It was a nice place for my family to stay. We were disappointed that the hot tub or the jetted tub was not working.

Owner's Response: Was not aware that the hot tub was currently nonfunctional; I was under the assumption that it was full and hot after some recent repairs. Will check with my staff. BTW, the high speed jets have been disconnected as they are too powerful, and cause a lot of water to overflow out of the tub. The jetted tubs in the bathrooms should have been working, we have not had any issues with those.

Great, clean house with a lot to offer!

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice time at this Brian Head home. There are so many things to offer and places to go in the house. It has beautiful views and is close to the ski lifts. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. There is something for everyone!

Everything was good, wish the homeowner or property manager would have provided firewood.

Owner's Response: As we clearly state in all of our initial emails to our potential guests, we cannot provide firewood. We've tried to figure out a way to provide firewood to our guests, but, there are two major problems with this. First, the unique layout of the house on the mountainside precludes our setting up a firewood stand outside the house. Access to such stand would be prohibited by the amount of snow typically accumulated each season, and the area where the snow plow pushes the snow from the driveway downhill towards the house makes that access virtually impossible. Carrying firewood inside the house up a few flights of stairs at that altitude would not be for the faint of heart. Second, employing our staff to provide firewood on a daily basis would increase the price of the rental far beyond what we'd like to offer it for. It would be cost prohibitive. So, at this time, we have no options to provide firewood, but if we come to some solution in the future, we will employ it.

Mostly great

  • 3 of 5

The location, view, and accessibility were all great. The kitchen setup was great, and it came stocked with everything you needed to cook a good meal. If the beds were comfortable, and the spa didn't have pieces pealing off, I would have given this a rating of 5 stars. Our inability to get a good nights rest due to the marshmallow beds, made us leave a night early. There are a few things that are non-negotiable for us, and sleeping in a comfortable bed is one of them.

Owner's Response: Sorry to hear about your difficulty sleeping at the house, but, as we mention in our High Altitude handout that we send to all potential renters before they purchase, the 10000 foot altitude that the house resides at can be uncomfortable at first for most, and one of the most prevalent side effects is difficulty sleeping. It is a very common issue until one acclimates to the high altitude, especially if one comes from an area near sea level. The acclimatization period varies, but can take up to two weeks. Personally, I don't start sleeping well up there for the first few days. Last year at this time, the beds were a subject of complaint, because they were too firm. So this past summer, we changed them all, and we especially focused on improving the master bedroom mattress, to provide a greater experience for our guests, at an even greater expense to us. This resulted in a Sealy Posturpedic European style pillow top mattress, which provides good support while offering a thick top layer of soft comfort. We've gotten very positive feedback on the bed quality since. The spa was recently resurfaced this past summer, and there are flakes that occasionally fall off. It will be dealt with again this spring during our low season. They are a cosmetic issue, and pose no danger.

Loved all the new snow!! No lift lines

  • 5 of 5

House was perfect for us, Had nine family members stay at this home. Everything worked fine except for the jacuzzi jets. Water was still hot and enjoyable!! Master bathroom is the BOMB!! Great Views. Owner took everything into consideration, that you could think of. Only issues were no electrical outlet by the garage ( needed for oil heater on diesel truck, cold!!!) And little to none clearing of snow from driveway. Could become a challenge by end of day 4 with constant snowing, if no 4WD. Enjoyed our time immensely, Thanks Richard for the use of your Home!!!!!

Owner's Response: Sorry about the plowing issue, it's been a confluence of conflicting events with this recent snow storm. Our snow plow was unable to get in to clean the driveway, ironically, because we had guests parked in it. We've had a busy season this year, and the combination of that and this recent long duration storm has led to issues keeping the driveway clean. We'll try to figure out something for future possible events such as this. It hasn't been an issue in the past, but then again, it's been a busy year for us. We will get an exterior socket installed during the summer repair period specifically for those of you with engine block heaters. Good idea, never thought of it...
