Welcome to the Columbia Star!
This is your home away from home, so, make yourselves comfortable! If you want a vacation rental all to yourselves - including a fun, backyard and game room - THIS IS IT!
Columbia Star is a comfy, cozy two bedroom Craftsman house in the sought after Columbia neighborhood, just 5 minutes from the breweries, museums, restaurants and shops in Downtown Bellingham and from Bellingham Bay Waterfront. We’ve found some fun, whimsical treasures to furnish and decorate and hope that you enjoy them: From a reclaimed organ key board cover for our coffee bar and bow top steamer trunk for the coffee table to a fabulous wire sculpture in the garden.
Enjoy catching up on your favorite shows on the 48” Flat screen Smart TV with DVD player. Sleep soundly on the Tempurpedic queen bed and a second bedroom with a Cloud Supreme Tempurpedic double bed and a super comfortable Twin bed, too. Down comforters and fluffy blankets abound. The main bathroom and kitchen have been remodeled to blend the Craftsman style with easy living amenities. Please note, there is no bathtub, but the rain shower is lovely. We have added a half bathroom and can't wait to share pictures of how it turned out! The kitchen is ready for your cooking pleasure! We’ve got coffee makers, grinder, blender, mixer, crock pot, popcorn popper, spices, sharp knives, teas and lots more! The dinner table is placed in front of the big picture window and you just might see little fairies if you look carefully enough by the trunk of the tree outside! We have ample street parking and a peek a boo view of Mt. Baker! A quick two block walk takes you to Elizabeth Park with summer concerts. Don’t miss the Saturday Central Farmer’s Market for authentic Bellingham flavor and friendliness!
Enjoy the BBQ in the backyard and nifty patio seating under market lights! There’s always time for a few rounds of Bocce Ball, rules are included! In the summer, there are blueberries to pick from the blueberry patch and two bikes and helmets to get out and see the sights! If weather is wet, check out the foosball, dart board and game table in the cute little garage turned fair-weather game room! There’s even the original, working wood stove for heat! You’ll find games of all sorts in the steamer chest and puzzles too! And along with the WI FI and Echo Dot, no one will be bored!
For local outings and attractions, Bellingham offers breweries, distilleries, wineries, Whatcom Falls Park, Fairhaven Historic Town, museums, and Boulevard Park where you can take the boardwalk over the bay and have a latte or chai tea and scones at the Woods Coffee shop on the water’s edge! Western Washington University is 2 miles up the road! There are bike trails, sailing and not to be missed, the Chuckanut Drive, 11 miles of one of the most beautiful drives in the US!
And you can make a day trip to Seattle or Vancouver, British Columbia, Mt. Baker with its world class skiing and hiking, bird watching on the Nooksack River and the Skagit Valley and Richmond, BC's Chinese Night Market! Bellingham Harbor boasts its ferries to Alaska, whale watching cruises and the train station to take you North or South along the coast!
