Secluded beautiful view of Glen Lake only 3.5 miles from Lake George village, close to ski resorts like Gore Mountain. House is desired because of location, location, location. Just a short ride into Lake George Village, Gore Mountain, Ticonderoga or visit Saratogo. If you want to relax and unwind, this is the house for you.

Great attractions wonderful "real food" mom & pop restaurants (you don't go to the Adirondacks and eat at a commercial restaurant. Ideal for motorcycle runs, fishing, horseback riding, amusement parks (Fun Spot, Magic Forest, The Great Escape)and great SKIING IN THE WINTER. Also, ice-skating directly on the lake it's amazing! Lots of winter events like Oct garage sale & fall festivals, Thanksgiving festival. House ideally located to back roads into Lake George and near the Northway. Many families have said they have gotten a closer relationship staying at our home because it focuses on family and not tv,cable and video games. Also Glen Lake is absolutely a gem, the hidden secret Lake George District/Queensbury.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I stayed at this house last year to do biking at the nearby bike trails. I really enjoyed the stayingon a quiet lake front and enjoyed swimming in Glen Lake. I liked staying at the house because it is located in a quiet residential area with a back way to Lake George. We spent alot of our time just staying in and barbecuing and really enjoyed the nearby horse back riding stables. I would love to stay again and will probably rent this summer as well. If you are an active adult and like biking swimming this is a great place to rent.

WORST RENTAL EXPERIENCE

  • 1 of 5

Six girlfriend's all together and we were all very unhappy with this experience. To top it off the owner kept part of our deposit for things he said we were responsible for. We are all women of certain age (most over 50) and we are not used to being talked to in the way the owner did while arguing over whether we broke a toilet paper dispenser and a screen door.

The place was in very poor condition. Most of us grew up camping with our family and are not afraid of rustic..but this was too much. The pictures are pretty accurate but that is not a good thing. The description is way off.

We could not sit by the water because the sewage small was so bad. Both decks, upstairs and downstairs we not secure and the living room furniture was in need of some major TLC. The downstairs bathroom stopped working. It state's that there is a "den" I have not idea where that was.

This place is not well maintained and to blame us and keep money??? We were unable to use the BBQ because of the condition it was in. I have rented from VRBO several times in this area. I have never had to deal with giving a deposit on a place. My husband and I have stayed at some beautiful places...I would NEVER go back here again. I can not believe he thinks this is ok! Not good business at all.

Owner's Response: Dear Deb, I am sorry but I did not rent to you. Are you with Martha Prell? And if so, on check in and during the week our phone conversation was all positive. But when we went to check on the house and saw the broken screen door, broken toilet paper holder (I guess you did use that full bath huh?), and garbage left on the porch, we had a slight problem at that point. Then I did a 2 week investigation because Marth claimed the previous renter caused all of this. On the repair side, the house is basic and for the rent I charge, I try to make it affordable and many people love the location of the house and local attractions; it is not a mansion and it's rental price does not reflect so. I can't make everyone happy. The deck is huge but you said the decks are small, that is bacause the lake side of the house has "balconies". These are not decks. As for the sewage smell, yes there was a septic problem and I apololgize for that. But that is why I ask to notify me of problems so I can have the 24 hour response of doing a septic pump a total of 30 minutes. Since you didn't tell me about this I really can't blame the previous tenant either for not telling me. The furniture was restored and the sofa is brand new costing over a thousand dollars to restore. The spring sofa in the living room is meant to hold the cushions for the outside furniture and I assume you felt this was a sofa for use when in fact it is not. Maybe I have to remove this to prevent confusion. The problems you noted do have easy fixes and would not have cost you but you didn't tell me about these (like the sewage). Unfortunately, you chose to not be forthcoming with concerns so they can be addressed. Again you were not registered or a person who rented this house but I assume you are with Marth Prell. I also still have the pictures of the damage.

Great vacation spot! Close to everything! The house had beautiful views of the lake. Swimming was amazing and the bike trail to Lake George was awesome. The owner was very helpful in making our stay comfortable. Thanks to Frank!

Family Sporting Actions and Adventures

  • 5 of 5

My journey was perhaps above and beyond your standard family vacation, we biked into town via the bike trail, early risers sitting on the top deck taking in the sun before it hits direct, gone swimming in the lake almost daily. Some parts of the family we met up there vacationing had taken us to Saratoga for some races what a day. We had gone into town for the Thurs fireworks and shopped in Walmart a few times as it is very close and out of traffics way. We had gone to the Great Escape and then back to canoeing before dinner. We also hiked by Log Bay along the Lake George coast only to jump off the 20, 40 & 60 ft cliffs into the water and that was spectacular. The girls thought that was cool. The house had satisfied our every need and we just ran into one challenge where an outlet had gone out near the stove and we called the owner and he responded quickly. The cable issue was not an issue as we were too tired to even bother with TV. btu had some old movies and local news.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying here at this property every summer for the past 3 years. It is our home away from home. The fishing is phenomenal and the lake view is absolutely breath-taking. My favorite thing to do is to sit on the dock with my little fur-baby and just enjoy nature at it's finest. However, there is also a huge water park nearby, Drive-In Movie theater (can you believe still exists??), miniature golf, biking and all kinds of other outdoor activities. Popular ice cream place where a Giant soft serve ice cream cone is like for $2.00. It is a short drive to the Lake George area which will give you even more activities to work on. Walmart and other popular stores and restaurants are all within a 5-10 minute driving distance. We stumbled on to this little gem of a house when Florida's Disneyland & other attractions became so expensive we decided to try Lake George area. Not going back!

Very Peaceful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at this house last summer and always loved the Lake George area. The house for the price was a fair deal. The location is simply the best. Every morning we awake to see beautiful sunshine on the lake and the beauty of that particular lake. The house is a reverse living area where the bedrooms are downstairs. It was hot in the bedrooms when we first arrived but we opened the windows and enjoyed the breeze from the lake. The kitchen had a medium sized refrigerator which I felt should be larger but it was new. I rear deck of the home had two barbecue grills and this was the shady part of the house where we just stayed out and ralaxed as my I barbecued up a storm. The kids were upset about no cable TV but this vacation really allowed my wife, the kids and myself to spend quality time. I think this is one of the best most relaxing places I ever stayed at and would consider ging again.

I also like the quiet secluded area and when we drove into Lake George Village we took the less congested backway and we had a great dinner at the George's Inn in the village. Oh, we also like the docksider restaurant about 1/2 away on this lake.

I am still allowed to bicycle when my wife gives me permission and just a few thousand feet is the bike trail where I did a nice run into the Lake George village area. It was good to see many families enjoying the basics of life and we enjoyed not just the attractions, but just sitting in front of that beautiful lake. Good think I brought some chairs.
