Beaumes-de-Venise Chateau / Country House Rental Photos and Description

Authentic Provencal Mas

This authentic 19th century, red-tile-roof'ed stone Provençal mas is located in the middle of vineyards a half-an-hour's drive from Avignon. The interior has just been completely renovated and it now combines the best of gracious Provençal living with contemporary comfort. It boasts a glorious garden with an outside table under a shady maple tree seating 8 for al fresco dining, a stone dipping pool, a fruit orchard, an olive grove, and a pétanque court for playing boules. With its verdigris-shuttered windows, terra-cotta-tiled floors, beamed ceilings and spacious living room featuring a large stone fireplace, this is Provençal living at its best. The farmhouse sleeps four in the main house in two upstairs bedrooms, both with beamed, cathedral ceilings (equipped with ceiling fans). Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom -- one equipped with a spacious shower stall and the other with a quaint, claw-foot bathtub. An attached, but independent, guest house next to the kitchen also sleeps two in a wrought-iron, queen-size bed. The guest house has its own travertine-marble bathroom equipped with stainless steel shower. Next to the guest house is a spacious, high-ceiling’ed fourth guest room with ceiling fan, queen-size bed and ensuite travertine bathroom and picture window giving onto the garden.

Les Seyrels is located equidistant from the charming Provençal town of Beaumes-de-Venise and the equally quaint town of Sarrians. Both towns host weekly outdoor vegetable and fruit markets, have supermarkets, bakeries and newsagents and can be reached either by a 3-minute car trip or by a 15-min. Bicycle ride (the farmhouse also offers the use of 5 bicycles of various sizes). Just ten minutes away by car is the bustling market town of Carpentras and the antiques center of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. The Dentelles de Montmirail mountains and the celebrated mt. Ventoux, both minutes' drive away, offer exhilarating hiking and biking on pathways lined with thyme and rosemary. Situated in the heart of the Côte du Rhône region, this mas is a delight for wine enthusiasts too (Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras... All at short driving distance).

Great location, lovely house

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Les Seyrels; the house is comfortable, tastefully decorated, and includes a well-equipped kitchen as well as lots of spaces inside and out for meals or relaxing. The grounds of the property and setting are spectacular. The location is perfect for exploring the Vaucluse, with day trips possible to Avignon, Arles, Mont Ventoux, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Vaison la Romaine, and other regional destinations. Wine tasting, markets, Roman ruins are all within easy driving distance. Weekly markets as well as bakeries, butchers, and grocery stores are in the nearby towns of Sarrians and Beaumes-de-Venise. There are larger regional markets weekly in Vaison la Romaine and Carpentras. The house was well laid out to comfortably accomodate our group of 7 and the owner was very responsive and welcoming. We would all return to this property and hope to do so sometime soon!

Beautiful house in beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful house in a wonderful part of Provence. The house itself is very well appointed, has a very comfortable lay-out and a beautiful salt water pool. The setting is also gorgeous with not another soul in sight.

We were a family of 8, all of whom were very comfortable throughout the stay. I would highly recommend it.

The owner is also very accessible and easy to deal with. All in all, I was very pleased and only wish my stay had been longer.

Ravishing, comfortable, refreshing, stylish

  • 5 of 5

Les Seyrels exceeded our very high expectations from the photographs and descriptions. It is an enchantment and so perfectly appointed that it is impossible to imagine anyone would want for anything while staying there. It oozes Provencal charm but Charla's exquisite taste means that it is also stylish and chic. The gardens are beautiful, a green lawn gives way to the olive grove; all around clouds of lavender soothe ravaged city souls, and the swimming pool is the loveliest one we have ever encountered. The saline treatment leaves it feeling soft and without that horrible acrid chlorine smell. The children played in it for hours at a time with no red eyes. We were two families in the first week (four adults three kids, teens and younger) all extremely comfortably accommodated (we loved the sweet guest rooms in the garden!) and in the second just us (small family two adults and one young teen) and my elderly mother joined us on the direct train from London to Avignon. She loved it as much as the younger contingent had, the garden room meaning she didn't have to bother with stairs, and the delightfully placed sitting out areas dotted throughout the grounds meant she could sit reading and enjoying the garden from many different vantage points. The house is surrounded by vineyards and a gently undulating, beautiful landscape, perfect for exploring the locality on the bikes provided. We played fierce games of boules on our very own petanque pitch and some ping-pong too, though the Mistral on occasion made this tricky! We ate outside every night on the terrasse under a leafy canopy, sometimes bbq ing, always enjoying the wonderful local provender. Jean-Phillippe was lovely, welcoming and informative, Alexandra the cleaner (a brilliant optional extra!) smiling and efficient and the gardener, whose name we did not catch, was utterly delightful too, disarmingly professing to liking the English very much! We loved our outings, Mont Ventoux; the local villages, Beaumes de Venise, Vaqueyras, Suzette (ravishing views), Isle sur la Sorgue- brilliant market, town so pretty, and especially loved the Fete du Vin at Rasteau. All these famous marques, quite delicious to taste. Paul Barker from Rhone Wine Tours talked us through a delectable selection. He is a gifted expert, so knowledgeable and passionate and has a great relationship with many local winemakers. We adored our holiday and returned to London profoundly refreshed. Bliss
