About the Property

Authentic Provencal Mas

This authentic 19th century, red-tile-roof'ed stone Provençal mas is located in the middle of vineyards a half-an-hour's drive from Avignon. The interior has just been completely renovated and it now combines the best of gracious Provençal living with contemporary comfort. It boasts a glorious garden with an outside table under a shady maple tree seating 8 for al fresco dining, a stone dipping pool, a fruit orchard, an olive grove, and a pétanque court for playing boules. With its verdigris-shuttered windows, terra-cotta-tiled floors, beamed ceilings and spacious living room featuring a large stone fireplace, this is Provençal living at its best. The farmhouse sleeps four in the main house in two upstairs bedrooms, both with beamed, cathedral ceilings (equipped with ceiling fans). Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom -- one equipped with a spacious shower stall and the other with a quaint, claw-foot bathtub. An attached, but independent, guest house next to the kitchen also sleeps two in a wrought-iron, queen-size bed. The guest house has its own travertine-marble bathroom equipped with stainless steel shower. Next to the guest house is a spacious, high-ceiling’ed fourth guest room with ceiling fan, queen-size bed and ensuite travertine bathroom and picture window giving onto the garden.

Les Seyrels is located equidistant from the charming Provençal town of Beaumes-de-Venise and the equally quaint town of Sarrians. Both towns host weekly outdoor vegetable and fruit markets, have supermarkets, bakeries and newsagents and can be reached either by a 3-minute car trip or by a 15-min. Bicycle ride (the farmhouse also offers the use of 5 bicycles of various sizes). Just ten minutes away by car is the bustling market town of Carpentras and the antiques center of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. The Dentelles de Montmirail mountains and the celebrated mt. Ventoux, both minutes' drive away, offer exhilarating hiking and biking on pathways lined with thyme and rosemary. Situated in the heart of the Côte du Rhône region, this mas is a delight for wine enthusiasts too (Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras... All at short driving distance).

• bedrooms/baths: on the second floor, there's one master bedroom with a queen size bed and a dressing, plus its own travertine marble bathroom with stainless steel shower and toilet. A second bedroom on the same floor has two single beds and its own, colorful-tiled bathroom with claw-foot bathtub and toilet. Outside, adjacent to the house, there's a guest house (an erstwhile sheep pen), with a queen-size, wrought iron bed, and its own travertine marble bathroom equipped with stainless steel shower and toilet. Next door is a fourth bedroom with queen-sized bed, ceiling fan and streamlined travertine marble bathroom equipped with shower. An additional guest toilet and wash basin sits under the staircase next to the living room.
• exterior: the terrace has a seating area and a large table under the maple tree. The house is surrounded with vineyards.
• amenities: phone, fast dsl internet connection, tv, stereo, cd player, english books, alarm clock, iron/ironing board, hair dryer, heating. There are five bicycles located in the garden shed for guests' use, a folding, competition-style outdoor ping pong table, and a several games of boules for aficionados. A hammock is also provided which can be hung on the terrace.

He will also be on call if ever there is a problem that needs to be solved as he knows les seyrels inside and out. His english is limited but you will be able to make yourself understood!
