About JoDee Burton or Hughes Burton
We both are in love with the Fancy Gap slow pace and the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. This is an incredible place to visit or live, with the Blue Ridge Parkway within sight. Lots of rivers and creeks for fishing, wineries, the wonderful weather and mountain breezes

Why JoDee Burton or Hughes Burton chose Fancy Gap
We love fishing, golf, riding our motorcycles on the BRPW. This area just slows your heart rate down! The trout fishing is great, with stocked creeks and rivers nearby. The weather is incredible with a constant breeze and your not fighting the insects while doing outdoor activities.
What makes this Cabin unique
The Blue Ridge Parkway is within sight of the cabins and the peacefulness has no comparison. We do have motorcycle parking, and within a mile of our cabins is a new Restaurant and Bar, 'Raps', with the biker in mind, special parking, motorcycle rides and events.

Cabin was wonderful!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at It's time to Unwine. The croaking of the frogs and the many different birds were a definite unexpected bonus. Everything about the cabin was great. We are planning to come back again!
Enjoying our weekend getaway
We enjoyed the cabin, the hot tub was fabulous. We also enjoyed fishing in the lake. We will definitely come back again.
Peaceful and amazing
The location just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway was perfect, and the cabin was absolutely amazing. We came here on our honeymoon and brought our one year old Australian Shepherd. He loved it as much as we did. We will be back.
What good is a hot tub with no water?
I want to preface this review by stating that I am currently seeking further action with HomeAway, as I could not come to a resolution with the property owner. There were some very great things about this cabin, which I will mention, but those were all overshadowed by my issues faced.
Within 15 minutes of arriving at the cabin, my bride (it was our honeymoon) and I wanted to jump in the hot tub since it was a long drive to get there. We opened the cover of the tub to see that it was almost completely drained. I reached out to the property owner immediately, and she said that she didn't know why it was empty. She mentioned sending a repairman out the next day if the tub didn't hold water (she asked me to fill it). She mentioned she would come by before my last day to discuss a refund suitable for both parties.
Fast forward to the next night. A few more texts were exchanged. The tub held water. The temp was only up to the high 80's. She never sent a repairman as it was holding water. She offered me a free night's stay in the future because of the issues. Because my wife and I live three hours away, this was not a practical solution. I asked if I could just be reimbursed one of the nights since she was offering me a free night in the future (seems equal, right?), and she said no. She told me she was not responsible for mechanical failures, as they "just happen sometimes." She told me her husband handles the money, and he was laid up in bed with the flu. I said I would give her a few days to come up with a number and let me know, or else I would have to follow up with the rental agency directly. She did not like that.
She immediately became defensive. She said she would then submit a report on me and nothing further would happen to resolve the issue. She eventually did send me a $50 refund, but I am pursuing further reimbursement with the rental agency.
The Good: Small, quaint little cabin. She provided plenty of firewood for the fire pit, the memory foam mattress was comfortable, the porch swing in the morning overlooking the small pond was very peaceful. The place heats up pretty quickly with the fireplace.
The Bad: Hot tub fiasco, the WiFi (she uses a wifi extended to connect to the router from the other cabin, so the WiFi barely works at all), the hot water in the shower ran out pretty quickly. Communication with the owner, while immediate, was fruitless. The cabin is not as secluded as the pictures let on.
I am sorry about the hot tub being empty the day of your arrival. I cleaned the cabin and sanatized the hot tub less than 12 hours before your arrival. I also sent you a text letting you know the property was ready for your arrival in case you should decide to arrive early. How the hot tub emptied on its own after I left is a mystery. We are so sorry that you could not enjoy that ammenity and I did give you the option to find another rental to stay in since this happened. I would call this a mechanical failure but after the hot tub was filled and allowed a day to heat back up, it was fine. It was a situation that I had no control of and as VRBO stated, I was not under any obligation to do a refund after you chose to stay. I offered you a free night to come back. We often have guests that ask us is the hot tub working? Yes, it is a new unit and this is the only time there has been an issue other than the time that our guests unplug it and then it does take awhile to heat. We work very hard at keeping our cabins spotless, the hot tubs sparkling and warm and take pride in our work. We are so sorry this was a disappointment. Also, for others information, there are a few surrounding homes but they are vacant about 85 % of the year. There is nice spacing away from them that allows privacy. We have upgraded our WiFi but we do advertise that the WiFi in this cabin is slower than the other cabin. Most of our guests live the mountain get away!
Clean, cozy and beautiful cabin! We spent the weekend in and out of the hot tub, enjoying homemade meals, exploring downtown Mount Airy, bird watching, and the amazing backdrop of 8+ inches of snow!! Jodee was a generous host and allowed us to stay until the roads were safe to pass.
This cabin has everything you’d need or want in a weekend getaway. Stocked kitchen, beautiful lake for fishing, cozy hot tub, comfortable bed and linens, and CLEAN!
Just a heads up for future guests, the WiFi is very slow and takes a while for anything to load. It works but come prepared with DVDs or games if you plan to spend a lot of time inside.
Also, it is not as secluded as the pictures seem. There is a house next door and another cabin (same owner) on the other side. The road is close with an occasional car that passes by.
Thank you for the kind review. We feel fortunate that the house next door has been vacant for seven yrs now, since I was the last person to live in it. Yes, the WiFi is slow, as stated on VRBO, and we are adding a new extender this week. We feel very fortunate that the traffic is so seldom on the road and our guests have enjoyed letting their kids and pets roam around since it is two acres away from the road. We hope you enjoyed your stay and will return. Thank you for noting the comfort and cleanliness, which is utmost important to us.
This was he perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. Such a beautiful view and very very clean!!
This is a convenient short drive from the triad area of N.C. and the views/outdoor activities are phenomenal. Hiking, biking, relaxing, and enjoying the 'quiet.' Numerous wineries, cherry, apple orchards, peach orchards, and quaint shops; your blood pressure lowers as your driving up the mountain to reach your destination. Mt. Airy, best known as 'Mayberry', is a 15 minute drive down Orchard Gap rd which takes you right into downtown. Visit the museum, have a Snappys Porkchop sandwich and please visit Floyds Barbershop! The hiking is phenomenal near the cabin with views, caves, water falls and cliffs. There is horseback riding on New River Trail at Foster Falls. Take a picnic lunch, ride the trail on horseback or your bike, and then go down the falls in a kayak or canoe. The fishing is great for walleye, musky and small mouth bass, along with the trout stocked streams and creeks in the area as well.
