About Alane McNulty
My husband and I have been married and living on Manhattan's Upper West Side for 20 wonderful years! I am an artist and he is a business guy. We have 3 teens -- ages 19, 18 and 16. We created this home for bringing family and friends together in a space that is both elegant and comfortable, light and inviting. In the warm weather, we gather in our very tranquil and private garden and in the winter around our big dining table or our comfy living room. It's all about community!
Why Alane McNulty chose Upper West Side
Our historically landmarked brownstone was built at the turn of the 19th century when people began moving uptown for more space. You have already read about our amazing location--close to culture, dining, Central Park, music, history and the B, C, 1, 2, 3 trains. In addition, we have a very special block of friendly neighbors who plant flowers together for Mothers' Day and care for each other and our neighborhood. We just listed the property in April and we look forward to sharing it with you!
What makes this Apartment unique
Access to a gorgeous, lush, private, quiet 600 sf garden for lounging, a glass of wine or cup of tea or a little basketball! Half a block from Central Park, half a block from the New York Historical Society (a gem of a museum), around the corner from the American Museum of Natural History, just a few blocks more to Lincoln Center and Symphony Space. Easy transportation anywhere in the city! We are close to the 1,2,3,B and C trains.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
great NYC family vacation venue and location
Great location, very considerate owners, comfortable -- happy we stayed here - my family will remember this trip and this property fondly. Thanks so much --
Exactly as shown on the VRBO website, this property is perfect.
Wonderful and quiet!
Truly enjoyed our stay here. Perfectly appointed, comfortable beds, sparkling clean, quiet street, and the most welcoming hosts.
Girls weekend in NYC
We loved our stay here... great location, comfy amenities, and lovely patio.
The Best Place to stay to enjoy our favorite city
Location! Great layout! Quiet! Light-filled! Access to a patio for the kids. Helpful, available property owners. Our family of six was very happy for our week in this 2 bd, 2 bath ground floor apartment with easy street access, an in-house washer/dryer (what a dream), well-stocked kitchen, with a comfortable living/dining area perfect for relaxing at the end of our busy days in Manhattan. We love this city, are are very partial to this part of the upper west side in the '70's next to the park. Great for families, as kids could run around in the park, ride the carousel, pet a turtle by the lake, even after some long days visiting and learning at The National History Museum, The NY Historical Society (both around the corner), The Math Museum, Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty Tour, and The Met (we booked a private children's tour. Wow! We all learned so much with Tour Guide, Alice). All the sites, including the shows in Times Square, had EZ access via an EZ walk to nearby subway lines from the apartment. No cabs needed. And, of course, fantastic eating and shopping on the upper west side: from Red Farm restaurant to Tip Top Shoes. This property is truly a home away from home. Thank you, Lanie and Paul for a remarkable, memorable NYC experience.
Wonderful Time in NYC
Thank you Lanie and Paul for such a wonderful experience with VRBO and renting your beautiful home!! There were small details that made us feel welcome from the comfortable bed, super soft linens, wine and flowers and a list of what to do that only a local would know. Also, the location was perfect! We were able to walk through beautiful Central Park on our daily adventures. I highly recommend this rental.
Thank you again for such a wonderful experience!
Located at the start of the Thanksgiving Day Parade and the finish of the NYC Marathon, "Oasis on Central Park West" is around the corner from the Museum of Natural History, the NY Children's Museum, Beacon Theater, Lincoln Center (home of the NY Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, the NYC Ballet, two Broadway theaters and Wynton Marsolis' Jazz at Lincoln Center). From the entrance to Central Park right at the end of our block, you can listen to John Lennon's songs at Strawberry Fields, watch Shakespeare in the Park, ride the Carousel, skate at Wolman Rink. For the sports-minded, take a morning jog around the Park's 6-mile loop (or one of the smaller loops) or along the Hudson River or rent a Citi-bike and take the bike trail to Chelsea Piers or the Brooklyn Bridge. We are near LOTS of subways: It's just one express stop on the 1-2-3 train to Broadway and three stops on the B train to Rockefeller Center and MOMA and three more stops to SoHo and the East Village. And right out our doorstop are endless numbers of hip coffee shops (Bluestone Lane, Irving Farm, Maison Kayser, Da Capo), fine dining (Red Farm, Lincoln, Cafe Luxembourg, Oxtail, Shun Lee and Boulud Sud are our faves) and the city's best shopping, including stores you know (Vince, Lululemon, Theory, Rag & Bone) and those that only locals know -- Liana, CPW, A Tempo). Then after a long day, return to our quiet, tree-lined block and enjoy tea or a glass of wine in the garden.
