Joe's Cabin is an immaculate little cabin in the heart of the Redwood Region. This one bedroom cabin, also with a futon-sofa in the living room, is located in the small community of Fort Dick, approximately six miles north of Crescent City. We will accommodate most all reasonable requests as we live next door.
The best features of our area are essentially free for those who adventure on their own, or at very reasonable rates for those who prefer professional help. These activities include steelhead and salmon fishing in the Smith River, touring our Redwood National and State Parks, beachcombing our beautiful ocean and sightseeing the Six Rivers National forest.
You will not be disappointed in our great cabin!

This is a very clean, comfortable place. I enjoyed my 3 week stay, exploring the forest and the beach with my pooch. The location is central to lots of places to hike, resteraunts, shopping. The convenience store and deli next door is reasonable and has most of what you'd need. The aroma of bacon in the early am is a bonus!!! I felt safe there, and the owners next door added to the peace of mind...such kind folks. I would stay there again my next trip west. My only complaint would be a too soft mattress as I am used to sleeping on a firm one.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at "Joe's Cabin in the Woods." It's a short drive away from the beach, as well as the redwood forest nearby. The owners are very kind, and considerate. If you're looking for a place to get away from it all, to have a little quiet time to yourself, with your significant other, and/or with your children, this is the place to come to.
Joe's cabin in the woods is a cozy, and extremely wonderful little get away. It's a charming one bedroom cabin that we have stayed at several times with wonderful memories made each and every time. The owners are super great people, making sure that little homey touches are added upon request. They are easy to communicate with in case of a problem or if there are needs to be met while you stay there. It's great for people with one or two kids who are able to be cozy and who have a car to go on excursions. There is a PLETHORA of things to do in the area from natural wonders to little touristy stops and everything in between. The cabin is priced just right and we have made this the go to rental each time we are in the area. This cabin, it's owners, and the area is just the thing for a weekend (or week!) away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities.
The area where Joe's Cabin lives, offers a feast for the eyes and soul. The Smith River is the cleanest river in the US and maybe even the world. There are pools that, from the river bank, appear to be 10-15 feet deep, but once you're in the water you soon realize they are actually more like 40-50 feet deep; the clarity of the water is very deceiving. In addition to the water, the Redwoods, the tallest trees in the world, are truly magnificent. I grew up about 2 miles from the Cabin and loved climbing those trees from age 3 on. The trees made me feel safe and secure because of their giant size and outreached arms (limbs) that just begged to embrace me.
The Great Pacific Ocean is a stones throw away from the cabin and the beaches there are very clean and not in the least bit crowded. It's nice to spend time on the beach and not feel like you are having to step over other people. It's a very relaxing and enjoyable place to stay and Mike and Jodie are the best kind of people in whole world. They've opened their garden to me, to take whatever I want; they are happy to provide you with anything you might need. You can never go wrong by staying at Joe's Cabin. Enjoy!!
We loved out stay at Joe's cabins. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the cabin and it's location next to Crescent City and with a small supermarket next door, very handy! We slept well and enjoyed the porch every night, while the kids loved the camp fire!
My husband and I stayed in Joe's Cabin in June with our daughter and large dog. We came to see the Redwood trees and this cabin was a great location for us. We were about ten minutes from Crescent City and able to go to several of the state and national parks in the area easily. The cabin had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and Mike and Jodie were super friendly and accommodating! They were very kind about our dog and let us know that we could use the yard as much as we needed. We tried The Chart Room on Mike's recommendation and it was the best fish and chips we have ever had! We would definitely recommend Joe's Cabin!
