3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8
I have been an active outdoors person all my life. I enjoy gardening, hikes, animal watching and many more outdoor activities.
Richard purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Richard chose Traverse City
This property is one of the best in the area with many outdoor activities. Close to Traverse City and many tourist hot spots it can't be beat!
What makes this Cottage unique
I purchased this vacant property in 2005 and camped on it for 2 years on and off to get a feel for the land before I built on it. I believe the location of the cottage and its surrounding land makes it a great vacation spot for all.

Excellent Vacation House!
We enjoyed the house and all of its amenities! We are familiar with Traverse City but location was great to continue enjoying that beautiful city! The kitchen was well equipped and we all sat together at the beautiful table! It was perfect for the 5 of us!
The Boardman River Cottage was just as pictured. There was plenty of space to accommodate my family. Unfortunately the weather was bad so we didn’t get to take advantage of fishing on the river. However, we enjoyed playing board games, as well as, the ping pong table. Nice place for a getaway from the daily hustle and bustle.
We had a great weekend at Richards house on the Boardman River. The home was very clean and well-supplied. Our kids loved being able to explore the riverbanks.
Perfect for our family getaway
We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you for everything!
Feels like Maine, but so much closer
My kids were raised in a divorced home. To this day they are very close with both me & my ex-wife. My kids & I love to visit Maine. But now that they are in college it is hard to find the time to go so far away. And working out schedules with summer jobs & internships... Nearly impossible!
So I only had 4 days and this centrally located, awesome house in the woods made it all work out so great. The drive from Chicago was only 5 hours, so not bad. But what a pretty drive!
Check in was easy with Richard. Lucky's was close by to get all our food. The kitchen is great with everything you could ever need. Can even grind your own meat, though I'm not the meat grinding type. The grill was great & it was so nice to be able to eat home cooking. And to just sit, talk & enjoy each other's company in such a relaxing place.
My kids decided to share the downstairs bedroom, with one taking the bed, the other the bunk bed. It was like they were little kids again! I took the master bedroom upstairs, which was really comfortable.
Although the weather was on the cool side, we were still able to enjoy a lot of things. The jacuzzi was awesome! The shower & steam bath were also great. Ping pong was a lot of fun, though I lost. Wanted to do the firepit & s'mores by the river, but we just ran out of time and energy. Next time!
Sleeping Bear Dunes & Mackinac Island were the must do day trips while there. Our house in the woods couldn't have been better located to get to these places.
As my kids grow older I realize that the times I have just with them are so precious. Of course we do big family events & events with boyfriends/girlfriends, etc. But just times like the old days, father & kids... This lovely house in the woods allowed us a home for three special days to cherish time together like old times. Thank you Richard!
Lovely place to stay!
Really enjoyed staying here. Richard was great to work with. Area very private and relaxing. Yet Traverse is only short drive away if you want more activity. House is great and is as pictured.
Located on the beautiful Boardman River just min. away from historic downtown Traverse City. Many wonderful restaurants, wineries, golf courses, and shops just to name a few of the many things available to do and see in the area. Great boating and fishing, hiking and kayaking. We have the Cherry Festival in July, Horse show in July, Movie Festival after that and many, many events thru-out the spring, summer, and fall. And don't forget about the fall colors. There is no better place to see them than on the River! There is plenty of wildlife in the area, lots to do and see right in this beautiful cottages backyard! Enjoy a bonfire by the river and watch the night sky for northern lights and satelites!
