About Susan Kirby

I am originally from Lake Tahoe, California and I first came to Whitefish in 2009. I never imagined I could find a place as beautiful as where I grew up but I was wrong, Whitefish Mountain took my breath away. I plan to retire here, but until then the property is available for your vacation rental.

Susan Kirby purchased this townhome in 2013

Why Susan Kirby chose Whitefish Lake Area

This spacious ski-in/ski-out, and in summer, bike-in/out, is big enough for the extended family or a group of friends. Located right in the village with a well maintained hot tub, wonderful light and views of the mountain, cozy fireplace and close to fine dining and entertainment.

What makes this townhome unique

Put on your gear in the heated ski room and head out to the slopes. Easy ski-in/ski-out access to diverse terrain, amazing snow, no lift lines and great ticket prices. The village has several fun places to eat, drink and listen to music. Mountain shops, gear rental, spa and restaurants are but a short walk from the condo. During the ski season there is a free Snow Bus that goes back and forth from downtown Whitefish, where there are numerous dining, shopping and entertainment options. Summers are fantastic too with hiking and mountain biking right on the trails from the condo. Whitefish Lake down the road and the many wonders to be found in Glacier National Park are a short drive away. The Resort offers chairlift rides for you and your bike to the summit, cross country biking trails, 2 zip line tours, walk it the treetops high-line tour, and the alpine slide.

Location, location, location. Ski in was perfect, a parking lot walk of 30 feet and your on the the Home Again run to the base chair. Snow bus up the hill to whitefish and shuttle bus to base lodge. Perfect sleeping arrangements and the condo is more than what we could hope for and owner was a pleasure to deal with. Very quick in responses and accommodating. Will not hesitate to stay again or recommend to others.

happy, happy, happy, happy, happiness is the truth

This was our third time renting this condo for our annual group ski trip. I never wrote a review before and its about time because this place is top notch in every way. In addition to it being one of the best ski chalets we have stayed in, Susan just keeps improving things every time we come. The first year the dinning room table was kind of small but the second time we came she had a huge round table in its place, which is perfect not only for group dinners but also for card and board games. There are also more games available this year and a new sofa in the living room space, very comfy for sitting in front of the fireplace. We like all the little touches, like the crock pot, popcorn maker, DVD’s, CD’s, books etc. I can’t say enough about this place and we can’t wait to come back next year.

We were so happy about our choice of renting this condo, it was perfect for our group of 8. The ski run to the lodge is right outside and easily accessible. It was great to be able to ski in for lunch and then out again. The condo was comfortable and roomy with plenty of extras to make our stay enjoyable.  We loved the hot tub, the fireplace, the ski room and the friendly vibe of the place. The kitchen had every kind of thing you could ask for and more making cooking easy. The weather was cold but the snow was superb, so no complaints and no lift lines, can you imagine that?  We recommend this place for larger groups like ours as you can spread out, there's even a room on the top floor with lots of DVD's available to watch in case you get tired of all the skiing. I'd say this condo its a bargain for the size and location. Thanks for a perfect stay!

Good ski vacation spot

  • 3 of 5

The cabin comfortably fit our group of 6, close ski-in/ski-out access to the lower base chairs, and a short walk to the village. However, the kitchen was very tight for a group, we had to run the taps for 5 hours to get rid of the sulphur smell, the coffee machine and tv didn't work, the shower drain was clogged and there were dirty kleenexes in the bedroom. In saying this the property owner was very helpful and quick to resolve any issues. The real wood fireplace was a nice touch as well.

Owner's Response: I apologize about the water situation. We have hard water in Whitefish and I installed a state-of-the-art soft water system last year to alleviate that issue. Unfortunately the condo was vacant since August and apparently if the water doesn’t run for an extended period it builds up sulfur. Even though that only happens twice a year I am considering removing the system. I sent the cleaners to dust and tidy up before you arrived but I also had the vent and duct cleaners up to prepare the heating system for the winter and I suspect they left the tissues. I will mention it to both parties and next time I have workers in the unit I will have someone check afterwards. If you let me know which drain and what TV isn’t working I will have them fixed or replaced. I had a new coffee maker delivered to you and could have attended to the other issues also if I new about them. Contacting owners right away if something is out of wack is the best policy, things break and that is the only way we know. My summer guests said everything was fine so I didn’t know anything wasn’t working, I thank you for your candor. All homes need maintenance and I pride myself on keeping everything in tip top shape. Regarding kitchen size, that is something I cannot change and since there are proper beds for 10 people I do often get larger groups and families especially since there isn’t anything much larger than my place in the Upper Village, its a sacrifice for the ski in/out advantage but sorry it felt tight for your group. The condo including the kitchen is larger than my permanent home in New York, so its all relative. Thanks again for your review, Susan
