Penthouse Condo, Spectacular Views, Beachfront, Marbella Club

Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Space 2,600 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 5 nights

About the property

3 bedrooms + den w/ sleeper, 3.5 baths (sleeps 8-10)

We offer a private corner penthouse unit with spectacular, unobstructed views of the ocean, coastline, golf course and, in the distance, the island of Vieques and the mountains of the El Yunque rainforest.

(The water damage mentioned in a recent review due to a leaking roof has been repaired as of early July, 2017. Guests since have had no water or mold issues.)

The condo is one of the largest in Palmas del Mar, with 2,600 sq. ft. of living space plus a large patio and three smaller balconies. The 11-foot ceilings and detailed crown moldings add to its sense of openness and grandeur.

The condo’s furnishings are modern, elegant, comfortable and all new as of 2013. The master bedroom suite has a king-size bed, a tv, a large sitting area in the room facing the ocean plus a private balcony. The large master bath has a Jacuzzi and a separate glass-walled shower, plus a double sink vanity with marble countertops. The walk-in closet provides ample space for short or monthly living.

The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, plus a wide armchair that pulls out to a twin bed. This bedroom also has a walk-in closet, a full private bath with shower and tub, and a balcony with a view to the golf course, coastline, and mountains beyond.

The third bedroom has a full-size trundle bed with a twin bed underneath, its own full bathroom (shower only), separate sink and a closet. The den has a high-end queen sleeper sofa and a prime view of the oceanfront on one side and golf course on the other.

Each bedroom is equipped with individual air conditioning controls. There is wireless internet, and cable tv in the master bedroom and den. All linens, towels (including beach towels), pillows and blankets are provided.

The bedrooms surround a grand living and dining area. The floor-to-ceiling windows in front of the living room open completely to the covered terrace, a perfect place for outdoor dining and enjoying the sight and sound of the ocean or just dining under the stars. The fully–equipped kitchen has stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. The view over the sink is the Caribbean just a few steps away, and a long pocket window opens one wall of the kitchen to the patio bar seating for easy serving and shared conversation. The condo also has two body boards, assorted dvds, games and activities for family entertainment.

This beautiful beach-front condo is located in the exclusive Marbella Club in Palmas del Mar. The Marbella Club is a gated community with manicured grounds, 24-hour security, concierge services, two pools, a hot tub, and a small fitness room. The condo comes with two indoor parking spaces next to the elevator which will take you directly to your 5th floor paradise. In addition the Marbella Club is the only community in the resort which has its own private 24-hour backup generator service. Marbella offers the ideal combination of a private, quiet retreat within an active resort destination.

Palmas del Mar, located in Humacao on the southeastern coast of Puerto Rico, is a 2700 acre resort offering two championship golf courses, the Flamboyan course designed by Rees Jones and the Palm course designed by Gary Player. It boasts the largest tennis center in the Caribbean with 20 courts of three different surfaces, miles of walking and jogging paths, as well as a marina (with opportunities to charter boats for scuba diving, deep sea fishing, and snorkeling), yacht club, beach club, equestrian center, spa facilities, and casino at the Wyndam hotel. There are more than ten restaurants in Palmas (French, Spanish, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, and more), and the center Plaza has a market and retail shops. (Note: the condo can offer guest passes to the tennis and beach clubs, but they are subject to availability and guest fees and restrictions will apply.)

Guestbook comments from the owner

I think I found the ideal vacation spot for my family: the Marbella Club in Palmas del Mar in Puerto Rico. There is a direct flight from Boston to San Juan, which is extremely convenient. It takes less than 4 hours to arrive at this beautiful gated community. Our accommodations in the 5th floor pent house were superb, with very spacious rooms that could easily accommodate up to two families. We had a pool, a private beach, and even a hammock in the front of the building. In addition, we had access to the Beach Club that was a short walking distance away. For our golfers, there were two golf courses, there was also a tennis center with 20 tennis courts. The best part of the penthouse was the views. There were incredible views of the swaying palm trees, the ocean, the mountains, and the islands in the distance. We could not have wished for anything more on our lovely vacation.

Amazing view but water leaks and mold shortened our stay

  • 2 of 5

The owner was wonderful to work with throughout the booking process and we were so excited to arrive. The night before our arrival the owner warned us there was some recent water damage in the master closet but said the closet would still be usable and should not affect our stay. Unfortunately when we arrived there was water all over the closet and the master bath so the leak was still an active problem. The property manager themselves were there attending to cleaning up the mess when we arrived so they definitely made an effort, but the damage was clearly more extensive than we thought. The TVs also weren't working and the WiFi signal only seemed to work in the master bedroom where the router was. Not a deal breaker itself, but another annoyance. Hoping things would be better in the morning, we went to bed and woke in the morning to the bathroom floor covered in water and a constant stream of water draining from the ceiling we had to put a trashcan under to catch. And then I got a good look at the 'recent' water damage. The damage was extensive and from the heavy staining on the walls and ceiling did not appear recent at all. Neither the master closet nor linen closet were usable and I found active mold covering the ceiling. This explained how sick I was feeling as I am highly allergic to mold! We went to eat to discuss what to do and came back to workmen waiting to be let in. Apparently the leak had now spread into the unit below! The workmen confirmed the mold and that the leak was actually spreading into other areas of the unit we hadn't seen which also likely meant more mold that wasn't visible all circulating through the air system. Having no desire to start our trip with a stay in the ER, we made the difficult decision to leave. I let the owner know and he was very gracious and tried to help us find another property on short notice during spring break. Because of some mobility limitations for the grandparents traveling with us and my concern selecting another rental sight unseen (once bitten twice shy) we opted to head back to San Juan to a resort we had stayed at before. Not the idyllic vacation paradise we had hoped for but got us through the week without a trip to the ER! The unit itself was beautiful and the view was absolutely breathtaking. They have some issues to address in the unit but the owner was very understanding and great to work with.

Owner's Response: Our apologies to Julie and her family. I understand we were unable to give her the vacation she signed up for. The original roof leakage occurred many months ago, and the Marbella Club has been working to solve the problem since then. We are unaware of any leakage from December until recently. A few weeks ago I received an email stating Marbella would move a/c units on the roof as the next stage of the repair. The guest before Julie (we did check to be sure the a/c was working) mentioned a slight leak which made some towels stored in the closet wet. We sent someone over to wash the towels, but the guest said it was not necessary and they would do it. We did not hear of any other water problems. I wrote to Julie before she arrived to say we had some dampness but it should not be a problem based on this experience. Unfortunately, the continued work on the roof appears to have caused significant leaking that we had not been told about. We will block the unit until the roof is fixed and the interior work complete.

I would stay at this property again and I would highly recommend it to others.

Although I am late in writing this review, I wanted to make sure it was done as the property and owner deserve to be recognized. My family and I have been to Puerto Rico numerous times...we love it here. We almost always stay in Palmas and enjoy it greatly. We hadn't stayed in this penthouse condo in the past but we hope to stay again sometime in the future. Everything couldn't have been more wonderful for our visit this past May. The owner was so helpful with all of the arrangements and he always had prompt responses to any questions we had. This was a family vacation and our party consisted of 7 adults varying in age from 21 to 76. It was a memorable vacation and the location, condo, and owner couldn't have been better. The condo was supplied with everything we needed and we only ate out 3 evenings out of the 10 days we visited. We stayed in Palmas and relaxed some days as we are all sun and water lovers. Since my father isn't as mobile, it was nice to have the two pool options depending on how far he wanted to walk. The bigger pool was very quiet this time of year and we enjoyed having the whole pool to us. The grounds are very well kept and the staff at the pool couldn't have been nicer always offering us ice or a towel. The beach has eroded a bit more since our last visit but we still enjoyed the beach area and the ocean. We also enjoyed El Yunque, the Bacardi Rum Tour, a catamaran tour out of Fajardo, a visit to the caves, and other fun activities. The condo is located close to Sam's club and Ralph's supermarket. We purchased most of our food and beverages at Sam's Club. There are also a couple bakeries outside of Palmas that we visited early most mornings for fresh pasteries and bread. We also enjoy potato cheese that we purchase at the bakery. This cheese is one of our favorites...we like to have it on the fresh bread...if you haven't had it make sure you get some. If you are considering this rental property, it is a great choice. I miss my evening glass of wine on the patio overlooking the beautiful ocean! Will, thank you again for sharing your beautiful condo with my family...we will treasure all of our memories! Kristi and Family

After a Long journey from Germany, we spent the last two weeks of October in this wonderful Penthouse condo. At our arrival it was clean and well prepared. The Penthouse provided nice furniture and more than enough space for for our group of seven kids and adults.

The building is in the best beach-location of Marbella Club (Palmas del Mar) - the views of the Carribean Sea and El Yunque (rainforest) are absolutely stunning. These views of pure nature are not disturbed by any other houses, since the building is the last one of a small number of buildings on the beach.

There are several nice swimming-pools within Marbella Club. One of them is directly in front of the house. All pools and the garden-areas are very clean and well maintained.

Due to seasonal erosion a part of the sand on the beach in front of the house was swept away just lately. This problem wasn´t too big, because there is enough beach within short walking distance in the neighbourhood. Despite that, the owner of the Condo gave us a golf cart for free to make it easier for us to reach other locations in the resort.

The owner (who lives abroad) and his local manager were very friendly and very helpful.

We very much enjoyed our stay in this extraordinary quiet and comfortable carribean beach condo.

Amazing Condo for a Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 5 children ages 3 through 12 spent 2 weeks in this condo in March 2016. It was a wonderful stay! The condo is beautifully appointed with high ceilings, beautiful interior décor details, several balconies, and a fully equipped kitchen with a large dining room table. Thanks to the trundle bed and pull-out couches in addition to the main beds, we were able to accommodate all of our children comfortably. The condo is very spacious and clean. It was easy to pick up groceries at the local Walmart and enjoy meals prepared in the condo; we also had wonderful meals at nearby Palmas Del Mar and Humacao restaurants. The beach and pools of the Marbella Club were at our doorstep, and hikes in the El Yunque rainforest were just under an hour's drive away. The owner and manager were very responsive to our enquiries. This is a perfect condo for a large family including children; we would definitely look to stay here again on a future trip and highly recommend it.

Modern and spacious home away from home

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property at the end of October 2015, despite some bad weather much of the week. The condo is incredibly spacious and has beautiful, modern decor. Everything was clean and in good condition inside and throughout the complex. The owner and property manager were highly responsive in helping us work through a couple of power issues that impacted Wifi and some lighting, and everything was resolved painlessly. Our party included my husband and me, our two year old son, and my mother. Everyone was very comfortable in the home.

For those traveling with small children, the balconies are very safe and doors lock well. One of the bedrooms has a trundle bed under the queen/full bed, which was perfect for my son. He loved it. The home also has a Pack n' Play (which we didn't use, but looked new) and a clean booster seat w/ belt.

The kitchen is reasonably well appointed, but you may find the size and quantity of pots and pans (plus the challenges inherent with an electric stove) to be a little difficult for a larger crowd than our family of four. The Walmart and grocery store nearby had pretty much everything we wanted -- the only disappointment in some cases was the meat selection, but I've been told many families freeze and bring their own on the flight. We like to cook a lot and I'd say we got by just fine; just know going in that you'll have some challenges.

Two pools in the Marbella complex are a very close walk and easily accessible. Both were clean and we pretty much had them to ourselves on the days we had good weather. There were only a couple of other guests in the whole complex it seemed. The slightly further pool (but still very close) has a splash pool section for small children and is larger in general. Unfortunately, as others mention, the beach has suffered a lot of erosion recently and all access points except the one closest to our building were roped off to prevent further damage. While the beach is narrow, there was room for us to spread out towels (lounge chairs are there, but were locked up for some reason) and after surveying the beach in a couple of other places in Palmas del Mar, I think the area right outside of this building is the calmest/safest for swimming. The bad weather we had prevented us from enjoying the ocean the rest of the trip due to rough waves, rip currents and enormous amounts of seaweed covering the beach and filling the waves -- but hopefully that was unusual.
