Outstanding accomidations for our family getaway !!
Terrible Property Manager
I am giving this cabin 3 stars, because the cabin itself is very lovely and clean. There was no problem there at all. My issue was with MELISSA, the lazy and cheap property manager. I really hope the owners are reading this to see how we were treated. I am really surprised at all the good reviews out there as maybe no one has had to deal with this woman? I guess if we had only had one vehicle then maybe we wouldn't have had a problem either. My husband & I shared this cabin with his sister, her husband and baby. This cabin is in a gated community therefore you have to pass a guardshack. When we got to the cabin, I noticed there was only one gate pass. The people stuck without one are forced to put in the gate code which calls Melissa's cell phone. My family was stuck outside the gate at 9pm and called her phone 6 times before she answered it. I tried calling her the next day about this and she would NOT pick up the phone and would NOT call me back. Therefore, we drove to the 'OFFICE' address (which is actually her dang house and there must be no 'team', just her) and she was sitting at home. At this point, I am livid because she could have answered my calls. I demanded another property pass and she flat out LIED to me and told me that wasn't possible when the guard at the gate said she could get another gate pass easily. She is also gives the bear minimum at the cabin (1 toilet paper roll per bathroom, 2 trash bags, etc.) After my complaint, I never heard not one word of apology on anything from her. I would NEVER stay here again as long as she is in charge. I had just come from a different cabin in Georgia in which the owners there put her to total shame (you can read my great review for it also prop # 989362). The guards at the gate were very nice by the way and totally contradicted everything Melissa said. We did what we could to avoid her the rest of the trip. Also, beware this is one steep driveway up the hill. Our tires slipped several times going up especially when it was wet.
I am not at all sure exactly what this lady expected, but she was provided with the same thing that every other guest is provided with, in all homes that we manage, including 5 more inside the Riverbend Gates. We do not supply toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, etc. for a guest's entire stay, but rather a "starter packet" in case they arrive after hours. That is made clear to them in the "Items To Bring" portion of their check in packet, which they receive from us six (6) days prior to their arrival. As far as the gate, we are only given one (1) gate pass for each home that we have in the Riverbend Development, and that has never, ever been a problem, until this guest. These people were "calling" me, which is NOT the directions they were given, and which is why the gate would not open for them. Things do work like they're supposed to work, when guests actually follow instructions, and do what they are asked to do.
For anyone considering renting this cabin, or any of our other cabins, in Riverbend, please know that there have never been any problems, until this guest demanded more than she was entitled to, and she has been 'flagged" as a problem guests so that no future reservations will be accepted from her.
Very relaxing, clean and enjoyable
We had a quick get away with a couple of great friends. This was perfect with the two master bedrooms. The beds were comfortable, the water pressure was good, the entire place was clean and very relaxing.
Loved the covered porch to relax and drink coffee in the morning. There wasn't a mountain or water view, but that wasn't an issue. We felt like we were in a treehouse and secluded from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world.
The channels available on the TV were a little limited, (no ESPN for avid sports fans)...but as far as I'm concerned you don't go on this kind of get away for football!
We explored the area and ate at Medina's for breakfast. It was good and sitting outside to view Chimney Rock was great.
The ingles grocery store is only about 5-6 miles and not hard to find. (Great store!)
We are talking about staying a week here next year as we loved it so much.
Perfect get away from it all place
Beautiful house tucked away in the trees..swimming hole across the street with quiet neighbors and easy in and out of neighborhood. House had everything you need! Directv and internet with lots of space in this great wood house...can't wait to go back!
A Bit of Heaven is definitely the correct name for this cabin!
Our biggest problem was that we had to leave! We stayed for five nights and I heard everyone in my family mentioned more than once this was the best vacation that had ever had. The cabin was immaculate. The warm pine smell when you walked into the cabin just made you feel at home immediately. And we were so comfortable for the entire stay. Great kitchen with upgraded appliances for cooking meals was great. The cozy living room was wonderful for reading a book doing a puzzle or just watching One of the many movies they left for us to watch. The beds were comfortable the bathrooms were spacious and our favorite place was out on the porch. The kids loved tubing down the river, swimming in the swimming hole, and we fished and swam in the lake. It was not uncommon for us to go out on the beautiful porch and see deer. We highly recommend this cabin for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle and just relax and enjoy.
Perfect Vacation Cabin the Bonus Added Fun
Pros: The cabin is beautiful and clean. The management company is organized and provides a lot of things you will need (garbage bags, soap, dish soap, etc.) Washer and dryer are new and came in handy. King beds are comfortable (and hard to find in other rentals). The porch is a great place to relax, eat lunch, or read a book. Riverbend is a beautiful community with lake and swimming hole access. We enjoyed the swimming hole on the river so much I wished I hadn’t scheduled so many OTHER activities. We honestly could have spent our entire vacation there hanging out with our neighbors.
FYI - there is also a trick that allows you to river tube from Riverbend so bring/buy some tubes. Starting at the swimming hole get out of the river behind the church (located across the street from the Riverbend entrance)–they have built stairs and we were assured they are fine with this but do be on your best behavior when you are on their property. Crossing the main street and to the left of the Riverbend entrance (when facing it) is a small path through someone’s back yard. They mow the path and have carpeted the river entrance to allow easy access (such nice people in Lake Lure!). Repeat as many times as you’d like. When you are done just get out at the swimming hole and head back to A Bit of Heaven!
Cons: The towels are small. (But with all the Pros, just bring your own!).
Located just 10 minutes from Chimney Rock @ Chimney Rock State Park, 30 minutes from Hendersonville, Asheville, Rutherford ton ;40 minutes from Tryon & Black Mountain.
