However we enjoyed our stay very much. The turkeys were especially entertaining.
My wife and I had a wonderful five-day stay in the cabin on the Stillwater. Everything is top-notch, very pleasant, and very private. We enjoyed the wild turkeys, especially as they roosted at night in the cottonwoods in front of the cabin. Late nights drinking wine as the moon rose over the river! We were there during a very hot spell and the fly fishing was not so good (actually, basically skunked) on the lower Stillwater -- but it was terrific upstream in the forest portion around the woodbine campground. As usual, rural Montana is wonderful. Thanks, Sheila!
Very clean, nice accommodation.I would stay there again for sure. One complaint,50 degrees Saturday morning,no heat except wood stove,no firewood. After re reading the information I noticed that it was written to purchase firewood,I presumed for the fire ring outside,no idea that I was expected to bring wood for heat.Had I known that I would have brought an armload of wood from home,as I did not plan on outside fire.I have small oil filled electric heaters at home for guests liking it a little warmer than I keep the house, they would work well for chilly mornings. The hot water was also lukewarm,I know how to turn up but had waited to the last minute to shower because it was chilly and being there for a wedding did not have time to wait for it to warm. Please don't take this as a bad rating, just a pointer for future. We were grateful for the stay,Thank you
The location, so close to the roaring river, was wonderful....we would never tire of that. Eating simple meals on the picnic table, watching the river.......perfect. Observing the turkeys positioning themselves in the trees a few feet from us at the same time each evening......fun. Daily walks or biking the road......beautiful exercise opportunity. We also took many day trips, including to Yellowstone and Sioux Charley, for some breathtaking, gorgeous hikes. The owner was very helpful with any questions we had.

My wife and I had a perfect stay at this cabin on the Stillwater River. The cabin was well appointed and very comfortable. The proximity and sound of the river was soothing and relaxing. The scenery, sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking. The wildlife was plentiful and fun to keep track of. We had wild turkeys roosting right between the cabin and the river. We tried multiple fishing access points up and down the Stillwater River and, although the access points offered some great scenery, we ended up discovering the best fishing was right in front of the cabin... The Owner was extremely accommodating, responsive and went out of her way to make sure we were happy and comfortable during our stay. A great vacation rental experience. Highly recommended!
The cabin is located on the Stillwater River. There is Blue ribbon trout fishing right out your door. Sit outside and enjoy nature. There are rafting companies in Absarokee that offer raft trips. Also available horseback riding 13 miles away. Often you will see wild turkeys, deer and eagles outside the cabin.
Yellowstone Park is within two hours, a beautiful drive to Red Lodge then over the Beartooth pass. There is a very clean public pool in Absarokee. Great hiking trails near which include Sioux Charlie, Woodbine Falls, Emerald and Mystic Lakes.
