The Neighborhood

“Lower Moonridge” is the portion of the Moonridge area that is situated between Moonridge Road and Bear Mountain resort, backing to the National Forest on the south. It’s a more “level” area than other parts of Moonridge, and is within walking distance to skiing, golf, and hiking trails.

A portion of Lower Moonridge was one of the first to be subdivided in the area, and offers compact-size lots with true “mountain cabins.” Views in this area are mainly neighborhood and trees, and the area is densely populated with gorgeous pines and oaks.

Lower Moonridge offers a great “mountain feel” with easy access, and as such is a popular location for vacation cabins and vacation rentals. Full-time residences in the area range from small to medium in size, with the eclectic mix of styles that Moonridge is famous for. Cute log-faced cabins share the block with vintage charmers, Victorians, Gambrels and “mountain style” designs.

Bear Mtn. winter resort, the Bear Mtn golf course, and Big Bear Alpine Zoo are all just a hop-skip-and-a-jump from Lower Moonridge, or walk to the Bear Mtn/Snow Summit shuttle. The small business district in lower Moonridge offers select professional services, ski and board rental shops, and one of Big Bear’s favorite deli's!

The area is just minutes by car to Snow Summit, the lake and marinas, supermarkets and banking and the “downtown” Village.

Getting around

During ski season, free shuttle service to Snow Summit is available and just a two-minute drive from the cabin.

Mountain Area Regional Transit Authority (MARTA) provides local and Dial-a-Ride bus service to the Big Bear Valley, Running Springs, Lake Arrowhead, Crestline and Off-the-Mountain service to San Bernardino

About Adrian or Karen Vore

Born and raised in California, we both love the variety and beauty that our home state has to offer. Adrian grew up in Redwood City on the San Francisco peninsula and Karen grew up in the South Bay area of San Diego. We met while students at SDSU and married a year later. Our primary home is in Escondido, CA where we've raised two beautiful children who attend our local middle and high schools. Adrian works at the Union Tribune newspaper as a city editor, Karen works at Illumina as a Planner. We stay busy with work, kids, sports, Sea Cadets (a youth program that our son belongs to), and our beloved cabin.

Adrian or Karen Vore purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Adrian or Karen Vore chose Big Bear Lake

Ten years ago we began visiting the Big Bear area with family friends and fell in love with the area. Friendly locals, beautiful surroundings and such a close getaway, yet feels like a complete escape. When the opportunity arose to purchase here, we grabbed it and have loved every minute of home ownership here. We love our cabin and love sharing it with others. We hope you'll spend a few days at Twin Pines Cabin and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings as we do.

Excellent cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The house is in very good location, close to the slopes and in excellent condition. The master bedroom felt like home, with nice setting and the electrical candles made it romantic and very cozy! The upstairs room was so cute and very comfortable. Having 2 restrooms was perfect for our family. We loved the games for the kids, the Wii upstairs and the Netflix and Hulu downstairs. It was relaxing and nice experience! We'll definitely be back!

Great Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted an affordable, clean, comfy, family friendly cabin that was close to the skiing- Twin Pines fit our needs perfectly! Upon our arrival, we were surprised by how big the cabin was-- the pictures online make it appear a bit smaller. I was also pleasantly surprised by the loft area. It was spacious and our 10 year old loved making it "her room". Everything we could have wanted during our stay, the cabin had. Our family of 5 had a wonderful time!

Additionally, Karen Vore provided excellent customer service, answering every question I had quickly and efficiently. I also really appreciated the complete Instruction Packet for the cabin. Would definitely recommend.

Everything is awesome.

  • 5 of 5

The place was clean, cozy, and convenient (very close to the slopes). My only complaint is that the carpeting kept giving me static shock, but that's a personal problem. Would stay again!

Owner's Response: David was a fantastic guest and we're so glad you enjoyed your stay at Twin Pines Cabin! Yes, the air can be pretty dry in the mountains, especially during the cold winter months. We recommend using lots of moisturizer to avoid those static shocks! Thanks again for being such a great guest and we'd love to have you back again. :)
