About Tara M.
We are a family of five that LOVES the Blue Ridge Mountains and everything they have to offer. The cabin has been a dream come true and keeps giving us the most cherished memories. We wish to share the magic of High Five. Come make magical family memories too.
Tara M. purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Tara M. chose Banner Elk
We have vacationed in the area for many years. After exploring one day, we drove as high as the road would take us and came to the location where we built High Five. The air was fresh, the trees were rustling and our eyes were in disbelief of the natural beauty before us.
What makes this Cabin unique
High Five is wonderfully private, beautiful piece of earth that renews my soul every time. Unique custom layout designed by owner.

Clean and Cozy with Great Views
My high school buddies and I went up here for our annual trip. The house was immaculately clean, well-decorated and had all of the amenities you could need. We did not bring kids but it is very kid friendly.
The house is basically on top of a mountain. I can see how in the winter it may be tricky to get up there but in the summer it’s not a problem at all. We drove 25 minutes to Boone, NC which is a really cool town and we also drove 40 minutes to Watauga Lake and rented a pontoon boat for the day.
The owner was easy to communicate with and the directions were simple. If we come back to this area we would definitely stay here again!!
Beautiful views and comfortable home
We had a great week at High Five. The house was comfortable and well appointed.
The view was amazing. The cabin was beautiful. There was something special for adults and children. The yard swing was a total surprise and a real hit with everyone, especially our 4 year old granddaughter. To be honest, grandma liked it too. I wish I had a tree in my yard that would hold one. Once you're sure about where you're going, the ride up there is well worth it. The cabin is also not too far from a park behind the Mast General Store. We've been to the store before and were not aware of the park. You can even swim, wade and go tubing there. There was also a band playing one evening. Great place to take a picnic and enjoy the afternoon and early evening with or without children. We stayed on the go so I wish I'd had a couple more days just to relax at the cabin. Wish our son and his family had been able to go; otherwise, this was by far the best mountain vacation I've ever had.
I am tickled that the High Five was a part of "the best mountain vacation I have ever had". Sounds like you are going to have to come back for a longer stay! I too LOVE the swing as much as the kids, maybe even more! Thrilled that you created family memories at the High Five!
Comfort, great views, amazing accommodations, absolutely lovely
Tara the owners was very responsive and we appreciate her for opening her home to us. She offered great advice about the need for a 4WD and excellent driving directions. For whatever reason gps is not able to get you to the right location so make sure you follow Tara’s instructions
Great home and great host
We had a truly memorable experience at the High Five cabin. The home is gourgeous and has everything you could need to make your mountain vacation perfect. We were 4 adults and 4 kids and everyone had their own space to enjoy. The basement level is perfect for kids and has tons to keep them occupied. The host Tara was very responsive and helped us deal with some challenges. I would highly recommend this home to families looking for a great place with amazing views!
Fabulous Cabin with Amazing View
We spent Christmas in this cabin with extended family and had a wonderful time. There is plenty of room for all ages to be together for quality time or for the kids to hang in the fun bunk room or hot tub. It was close enough to allow for skiing and shopping. We all had a blast in this beautiful cabin and would love to stay here again!
You can have it all...adventure or leisure. We have young kids that love horse back riding, tubing, sledding, hiking, biking at Valley Crucis Park and the goodies at the original Mast General Store (1.5 miles). There is antiquing in Foscoe (1.5 miles), skiing Beach Mountain (8), Sugar (6) and Appalachian(5), zip lining and snow tubing at Hawksnest (3), Tweetsie RailRoad (8),
