Why Ken Youch chose Skagit County
Our home is a one of a kind special place. It is as comfortable as it is beautiful. It’s like a fairy tale cottage only it is real. This is a place for cherished family memories to be made. Once you arrive you will never want to leave.
What makes this House unique
When my wife and I first found this place, it literally took less than fifteen seconds on the property before I was frantically calling the previous owner telling him that we would take it. One hundred and eighty degree view from just about every room. Wrap around porch. Stairs down to beach twenty five feet away. Sunsets every night. Eagles in the trees daily. Every thing you see out the window is either water or a State Park. When you arrive, you will see why I call it Paradise!

Stunning house and location.
The house is decorated so beautifully with all the things you need to enjoy your stay. The owner is very helpful and curtious. The beach is so pretty with gorgeous sunsets. The beds are comfortable and from every window there is a gorgeous view. I have spent hours sitting on the wrap around deck taking it all in.
Thank you Courtney, I am glad you had a enjoyable time. It was really heart warming to see and hear your kids playing ball and having fun on the beach. My kids have grown, so now it is just grown up activities. We used to play baseball and the big steps and picture window was the back stop! Please come back soon!
My family and I spent three nights at this charming home. The views from the deck are just stunning. We are foodies and arrived with lots of supplies to cook some delicious meals. It was a good thing we brought a large coolor as there wasn't much room in the fridge, and no room in cupboards for staples. The cooktop is a little cantankerous but we got it figured out. The grill is quite old but works. No cereal size bowls at all. And yes - as others have said, would be great to have a few hooks or towel racks in the bathrooms, but I think this house is still being renovated.
The house is on a medium high bluff. The dock in front washed out but stairs were being set while we were there that go down to a little bulkhead/deck which is still about 6 feet up front the beach. There was a ladder you could drop down from the bulkhead to get to the beach. We had dogs with us so needed to walk three houses for access.
The area is lovely. La Cannor is a quick drive - and a must try is Anelia's Kitchen. European flair and really great basics. Relaxed atmosphere with music on the weekend. Blackrock Seafood is about 5 miles to the north of the house. A must for anyone who loves seafood. We had a clambake one night with delicious Dungeness, butter clams and prawns. Next night we picked up some halibut. All wonderful! Head to Anacortes for small town charm and a great lunch or dinner at Adrift or A'Town.
OK - sightseeing, if you have the day, pre-reserve a spot on the Anacortes ferry and head up to the San Juan Islands. Jumping off at Friday Harbor is probably the easiest. If you drove on, head across island to Roche Harbor. You won't be disappointed. Another fun drive is over the Deception Pass Bridge - stop and walk around - and then head down to the waterfront either at Rosario Beach or Deception Pass Beach.
Overall I would say this is really good place to stay. The owner, Ken, is responsive if you have any questions. He was very helpful in figuring out if the home would work for my step-dad who uses a walker. We did wind up using a wheelchair to get him from the car to the house as it was a fairly uneven surface. Lots of nice wicker chairs out on the porch gave him a great place to sit and absorb the view. (Oh - and the steamer chairs in the photos that I was really looking forward to weren't there. Bummed about that.) Really nice spot, just be prepared to wrangle for some territory in the kitchen. And you can't beat the location or the sunsets.
Best porch in the area, right on the water
We enjoyed our stay. The house is very well equip for families and the views are amazing.
Thank you Tony, I hope you had some time to relax after all of your running relay.
This is the place for rejuvenation. I’m glad you all had the opportunity to enjoy it.
Beautiful views of the water and great house for family gathering.
Our family met from around the state at this property to enjoy being on the water and had a wonderful time. The lawn is great for games, the beach was easy to put kayaks in and walk along, and the views from the porch were always wonderful to just sit and enjoy. Great house.
Excellent location - quaint cottage
We stayed at this property june 17~19th. We were a group of 7 adults and 2 kids and the place was just right. The property is very nice, the owner Ken, is a very likeable person and easy to work with. He has set up the cottage with lots of antiques and tastefully done, the beds are very comfortable .
The wifi is excellent. It is great for a weekend break, but for long stays you may have to get the owner to make room in the drawers as most of them had his things there so a bit cluttered, (That did not affect us for the short stay).
Here are a few things to consider:
The dock access to the beach is broken, so he has a portable ladder , which can be difficult for older people. ( We managed to go through the neighbours property )
None of the windows have any blinds or curtains, So be ready for a " boot camp time " wake up especially if the sun is up early. ( Nope I do not like sleeping with sunshades over my eyes!). (The views from the room are magnificent but not appealing when the light forces you to see it at 4.30 AM!)
There are no clothes hooks anywhere in the bathrooms or rooms.
Despite paying the considerable cleaning fee, the owner requires you to do the laundry and drier- Now when you do 9 sets of towels and sheets it takes about 3 loads so it is very time consuming. This part of needing to do the laundry and drier is new to our VRBO experience.
HOWEVER THE PROPERTY IS GREAT AND THE OWNER VERY NICE TO WORK WITH. I would definitely book again. All in all great place very comfortable homely feeling.
Charming and cozy cabin, right on the water
We had a lovely stay at this cabin, it is as charming as the pictures represent. It is full of lovely furnishings and the fir window trim and pine floors are gorgeous. The porch is so inviting even though it was cold when we were there. It is right on the water and we were able to take beach walks each day, go to LaConner to explore and drive up Chuckanut to Bellingham. The owner is easy to work with and told us to make ourselves at home which we did. I also appreciated that we could bring our cat. It feels like someone lives there and they just left for the weekend, complete with a full pantry and overflowing cupboards and drawers. We didn't mind because we liked the homeyness of it but just know that in advance in case you are looking for something that feels a little less personal. The only things I would have wished for was different (more) silverware and curtains on the bedroom window and bathroom upstairs. It felt a little creepy to change in full view of the houses next door. Be prepared to wash all your linen before you leave. it is the first time I have rented a house where that is required and for the amount we paid per night it was surprising but I knew it going in so we just planned our time accordingly. I'd happily rent again- it was a warm and wonderful place to gather our families which consisted of four adults and four grown children. I'd highly recommend going to Anelia's in LaConner for lunch or dinner. It's terrific!
Thank you for the nice words. This is one of the most special places on earth. I have set it up for me, my family and my dog. I have transformed this place from a fishing shack with a outhouse to a comfy cozy pad, designed for relaxing! I am happy to be able to share it with others as I know everyone leaves with special memories. Please feel free to come back any time.
PS. If you want new silverware, you have to talk
to the wife! With views like we have It is real hard to put up curtains.
