About the property

3 Bedroom/3.5 Bath Oceanfront Beach House With Lush Tropical Grounds.

Architecturally stunning and private, Serenata del Mar features a terrific pool and tropical gardens. Large great room with kitchen, dining room, living room and unsurpassed views. Located south of Zihuatanejo on Playa Blanca, near the village of Barra de Potosi. It is minutes from the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo International Airport. A well kept secret -almost 10 miles of uncrowded, white sand beach. It is quiet, safe, with warm water and total serenity. Sea turtles, dolphins, whales, birds and abundant sea life share this paradise with us. It is truly 'old Mexico'.

A beautiful place but the bugs ruined our stay

  • 2 of 5

Serenata del Mar is an amazing property located in a beatifull location and the personnel taking care of the property could not be better. Unfortunatelly for us, the bugs in the area made us leave in advance because it was just too much.

We are still not sure about what type of bug got to us but it was definitely not the common mosquito (wich is annoing during this time of year), back, legs and arms of 3 of us were completely covered with bites (vast ammounts of repelent were used during our stay).

I strongly recommend to close with mosquito screens the open area of the house and continiously fumigate the place.

Other than that, the place is just perfect for a getaway.

Clean. Great Location. VERY nice property. Warm friendly area.

  • 5 of 5

Spent 10 days here with wife and 3 children (two teens and an 11-yr-old). It was a fantastic property. The home and grounds are very well kept. Roberto, the grounds keeper is there 5 days a week to care for this home, and it shows. Ask him to cut down a few coconuts from the trees on the property and open them up to drink. His english isn't all that great, but he's happy to help with anything, and when he wasn't smiling it was because he was singing or whistling! Gary and Zoe, the hosts who live full time next door, are warm and friendly and helpful. They even took us on a personal tour of El Refugio, which proved to be an amazing experience. The little town of Barra de Potosi is cozy, has nearly everything we needed, and is full of very friendly people. So nice to spend time in "old, real Mexico" instead of in the tourist zone (although we hit Zihua/Ixtapa a few times to shop and play -- only a 20-30 min drive). The seafood was great -- we even caught our own and had a local restaurant prepare it for dinner that evening. It was excellent. We nearly always had the beach out front to ourselves, and I already miss the sound of crashing waves lulling me to sleep. The information provided by the Owners was thorough and helpful. We used many of their recommendations and were not disappointed. Booking, payment, and planning were smooth and simple. I would recommend this home without hesitation, and I would go back -- both comments i do not make lightly.

Owner's Response: Thank you, Scot, for your kind words. We strive to make our guests experience perfect from the time they book until they shake off the sand and head home. We are lucky owners to have Gary, Zoe and Roberto as our team at Serenata. They are a part of the Playa Blanca magic. We appreciate you taking the time to write a review. We would love to have you come back to visit.

Another gorgeous day in paradise

  • 5 of 5

This perfect example of open air beauty, Serenata Del Mar is my utopia. The beautifully designed house has many handmade elements made by local artisans: from the inlaid rock, mosaic rug shapes of iguanas and turtles , to the handmade peaked palapa roof made of local palms. I woke up to a view of the ocean from my bed, then sipped fresh coconut water from palms from the property.

Playa Blanca (white beach) is a perfect beach with soft white sand and is a many miles long beach with warm water. The sound of waves puts you to sleep and accompanies you your entire stay. I took a sunset swim, then afterwards dolphins swam by.. The experience is nature with luxury.

Good discription. Many times we were the only ones on the 9 mile beach!

  • 4 of 5

My husband, mom and brother had a wonderful time. The "extra room" in the out building was perfect for my brother. We loved the "open to outside" concept. We could always here the sound of the ocean. Barra de Potosi was very nice, just a 5 min drive from the house. Several restaurants with wonderful food, stores/veggie stands and really nice people. We took advantage of the BBQ grill, cooking local fish. We rented a car for the entire stay. Driving was easy. We went up and down the coast several times eating at local spots on the beach. The perfect ending to a day was coming home to a pool and perfect landscaping. The photos are great, but it is even better when you get there. We spoke with the owner several times prior to our visit and he was very helpful in answering all of our questions. We toured the ruins and afterwards the guide took us to his home where we watched his brother dance and place a whistle. We walked the beach and spent plenty of time boogie boarding in the ocean and lounging in the pool. On the last day we were in a earthquake, 7.5!! Wow....words can't describe the sound prior to earth shaking and the house a rockin'. We made it out safely. Unfortunately there was damage to pottery, glasses/plates and the TV fell off the stand... but the house and pool came out untouched. The neighbor came over to make sure we were all OK. What an adventure on the our last day. Hope to make it back sometime soon!

Rye New Hampshire

Newly married couple from New Hampshire

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for 17 days and it was magnificent. The villa is very nice, quiet, very clean and the pool was the BEST that we have ever experienced...ANYWHERE!! The town is a very sleepy place to stay, very safe and comfortable. The local food is ok. We took a dozen trips into Zihuatanejo and there are some incredible places to eat, drink and have a great time. We got married in Petatlan which is 45 minutes South of Serenata Del Mar. We were the first couple from America to get married in Petatlan. This place is truly Mexican and it was a joyous experience getting married there. A challenge but well worth it. Our memories for this area will stay with us for the rest of our lives. One of the nice things to mention about this Villa is the location. It is only 20 minutes from the airport and 35 from Zihuatanejo. We loved loved loved Serenata Del Mar. Have to rent a car since the action, food and good times are in ZIH.
