This is a really special property with plenty of room to stretch out and have fun. The house was in amazing shape for our arrival and the caretakers took great care of us.

Thank you so much for helping to make a really restful and rejuvenating weekend for our party.

Our Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

We just finished a week at Echo Pond Lodge. We were a family of 14 with the kids ranging from 2 to 17. You always wonder when you book something sight unseen whether its going to live up to the pictures you see on the web site. This was phenomenal. The accommodations could not have been more perfect. Room for everyone. The pond was great for all. Having the canoe, kayaks, row boat and wave boards gave everyone the opportunity to get out on the water. Location to the Lake Placid Village was close so a great deal of time was spent there. Lots of shopping. Saw the Olympic jumpers practicing on the 90m jump as well as freestylers jumping into the pool. Hiked Mt. Jo and Whiteface. All in all.....fantastic. Highly recommended.

Stunning magnificent entertaining escape

  • 5 of 5

My family just spent some time in this remarkable house with a private lake and it surpassed all expectations (and thats after looking at those amazing pictures which sets the bar pretty high for expectations) The house was nothing short of incredible and it was so much fun. We ranged in age from 12-70 and all had a great time. The place is massive so one of the most fun things is just getting there and exploring the house itself. The activities afforded by the lake were so all encompassing and enjoyable that we rarely had a chance or desire to actually get to Lake Placid itself. We all spent time on the lake in all the watercraft provided and even did a little fishing. We even found out that it was national smores day during out stay so we were able to utilize the fire pit in the backyard to make smores which was fun. The sleeping arrangements were ample and comfortable. We played pool, read books, played cards, made family dinners in the expansive kitchen and hiked the nearby trails. Everything about this experience was top notch and we are lucky to have come across this listing. Mary was easy to stay in touch with during the process and we met Don the caretaker a few times there to make sure everything was running smoothly. The listing was accurate, the pictures were accurate, the location was incredible and if you are ever bored or want something new you have lake placid a few minutes away. The property was very clean and I would happily recommend this property to anyone.

Amazed on Arrival, Enjoyed Throughout, Sad to Go

  • 5 of 5

Our group, consisting of 5 couples arrived at the home on Echo Pond at night. We were immediately captivated by all the great and grand spaces we would have to enjoy during our stay.

The next morning the excitement amplified as we woke to the view of a beautiful frozen lake, without a hint of another home or human in sight. The privacy and exclusivity is amazing considering you are less than a mile from the center of town.

The next few days we entertained ourselves mostly in the Great Room, playing games by the fire (fully stocked with wood by the caretaker), shooting pool, or making drinks at the bar. The evenings were spent in the kitchen cooking meals in the very well appointed kitchen. Such a joy to cook with a massive 6 burner industrial range, several sinks and plenty of counter space.

The bedrooms were all excellent and easily swallowed our group of 10 with plenty of room to spare. Everybody raved that the beds and comforters were better than their own at home. The bathrooms all have fine character, with each shower belonging in an architect’s playbook. The home was so comfortable that it was tough to get even the most avid skier's to the slopes.

On our second day we took a hike up a nearby hill, which provided great views of the Olympic ski jumps and the village. Although we tried to keep the vacation low tech we did play around with the impressive audio visual set up, and easily connected to the wireless internet.

The moment that brought the experience home came on the ski slopes chatting to a local resident. After describing the home to him, he recognized being at a party there, a long time ago, and had very fond memories of the night. Indeed, this home continues to make fond memories, and we are all lucky that this home has been shared with the global community.
