About Glen and Amy Knowles

Our small family of 4 loves this area and all it has to offer!

Glen and Amy Knowles purchased this house in 2006

Why Glen and Amy Knowles chose Virginia

We were looking for a great vacation spot for our family. We are big VMI fans, and love going to many of the college sporting events. Easy drive to many attractions, like hiking, biking, state parks. We can fish out of our back yard! We have been blessed to be able to relocate here full time!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We came to visit our daughter at W&L one last time before graduation. We wished we would have stayed here 4 years earlier! We kayaked down to the cabin on part of Buffalo Creek and had a great time. The view from the cabin was awesome - the stream is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!

Lovely property- very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful experience. Everything was clean and well stocked. We met with one of the owners - very delightful and helpful. The view from the deck was very relaxing and the drive to Lexington was about 10 minutes. We went on several trails around Lexington and shopped around the town of Lexington. We would definitely stay again. Thanks for a great time!!

Wonderful Mountain Retreat With Water Views

  • 5 of 5

We have a son attending VMI and have rented this house several times. The location is just a short drive from both W & L and VMI. The house is always clean and has all of the amenities to make our stay very enjoyable. The view from the back deck is breath taking. The Buffalo Creek runs around the property and the mountain serves as the backdrop. It makes a wonderful getaway. We have a small dog and being able to have a place where we can bring her is a wonderful bonus. The owners have a house right down the road. It was a comfort to know they were so close if needed. I would highly recommend renting this place! We have only had positive experiences with our stays and have already booked additional visits.

Third Time was not a Charm

  • 1 of 5

This was are third time here and as with the first two times we where staying with are two small Chihuahua's. May problems started when I tried to make my reservation and it come up with and extra charge for over four people. It was only my self my wive an my daughter an her 5 month old. So I sent a message asking why and after a few days Heather got back to me and said try to book on there sit which I did. There sit was showing different dates available then Here on vrbo. I tried contacting Heather and left several massages before I finally got her. I went ahead and book on there site and when she emailed me back she had over charged me. I contacted her again and she said it was a mistake an she would correct it but the tax was 12 percent not 11%. It was not that much different so I let it go. But if the tax changed shouldn't you change it on there site. The night after we arrived we went out to dinner and I received an email from her about my dogs, saying I owed her $50.00 because I never said anything about them. I checked that I had pets an why would I think I would get away with not paying for them when we stayed there before and we know the owners are right there watching us? Heather ruined my wife's dinner with this and when i called her about it she got all in a rage. After awhile she told me to never call her again an that she was going to take care of it. Next day we received a nasty Email from her about it. Well We come to the area every year and you lost us as guess. Next year we will be staying somewhere else. Maybe if you gave and Itemized bill people could see what they where paying for instead of just giving a total. Also I never complained that we did not have internet the whole time we where there. I be leave in paying for everything so I don't have to go thru what Heather put us thru. Beware Heather tried to over charge us three times .

Owner's Response: I'm very sorry the initial quote you received from VRBO had the additional per person charge as we discussed there was no additional fee. The reservation form that you completed did have the correct tax rate and my apologies for VRBO not being up to date. Please note that VRBO is an approximation of what you should expect to pay not an exact amount. At no point was your credit card over charged. There was a typo in the confirmation letter which was remedied as soon as it was discovered. As far as the internet neither myself or the owners were notified that there were any issues.
