About Terri & Nate Marsten

We are the Marsten's. Terri, Nate, Oscar (10) and Greta (8). We live in Minneapolis and our favorite place is the cabin, go figure! We are avid skiers and bikers and all things outdoors. We hope you enjoy this beautiful gem as much as we do.

Terri & Nate Marsten purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Terri & Nate Marsten chose Northwest

We were really drawn to the quiet sports and the quiet lake. It let us get away from the buzz and the distractions of city living.

What makes this cabin unique

There is this most amazing wavy grass all over the property that is unlike most forest floors. The quaintness of the cabin, the lay of the property, the gorgeous sunsets that let summer nights last until 10 pm are just a few reasons. Not to mention there are no immediate neighbors -YEAH! (vacant parcels on both sides of the 200 ft of shoreline). And, as the wind typically blows from the west, we enjoy breezes and fewer bugs.

Loved this place!

  • 5 of 5

This is a cute little north woods cabin with all the amenities anybody could need. The owner's manual and instructions were very detailed and helpful, the cabin was clean and we all really enjoyed our stay very much. There were 2 bald eagles that would fly right above us every morning as we'd drink our coffee on the pier - they'd go searching the lake for food, not to mention we could hear the loons at a lot of times throughout the day and every night, the lake would get as calm as glass. It was just beautiful. My only recommendation is bring bug spray - the heavy duty stuff - the mosquitoes will get you but there is a fire pit to keep them away and Off does wonders. This is an ideal north woods home if you're looking for some quiet time surrounded by nature - plenty to do if you love the outdoors. No joke about it being a Class A musky lake - fishermen were right out in front of our pier the day we arrived (so naturally we rented a boat hoping to catch one). Lost Land Lake Lodge had a great fish fry - we went by boat. All in all it was beautiful and a lot of quiet relaxing fun. We never got tired of the sunsets to say the least...just an awesome place overall. We are hoping to come back next year.

Clean and quant and quiet

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing spot! . So peaceful. The loons singing. The cabin had everything we needed. It was clean and well maintained. The sunsets were gorgeous. There was a nice breeze that kept the mosquitos away and a great fire pit looking over the lake. Even did some fishing right off the dock. Swimming off the dock was fun as the water is not too deep and the kids could go in and out as they pleased. A great family get away for us.

Remote Secluded Relaxing

  • 4 of 5

Cool old school cabin. I liked the vintage decorating. Very remote! Nothing fancy but comfortable and everything you need. The stars at night were amazing and like nothing I have ever seen. Sunsets spectacular too. It's quite windy where the cabin is located so can be much cooler than in town. Mosquitos can be bad too. If you are looking for a secluded spot away from it all but still in driving distance to activities this is it!

Wonderful Cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

We loved Terri and Nate's cabin. It was clean, had almost everything we needed that we didn't bring, and the views were perfect. We were disappointed that there was a huge storm before we went, and so the power AND water were out for 2 of our 3 days. The trails were flooded, and it was windy. However, we still went swimming, had a fire (we struggled though because everything was wet), and took all the boats out and did what we could. We can't wait to return, perhaps in warmer months, although it was nice being on the lake after the busy season. The cabin is about 20 minutes away from the general store, and we had dinner at lost land lake lodge one night (friday fish fry). Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will be booking a longer stay next year ... hoping that it will not storm before we go!

Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our weekend getaway to this cabin was perfect--peaceful, quiet, secluded. The cabin was quaint, clean and well-stocked. Fall colors were in their prime! We enjoyed reading by the lake, fishing, fires, and movies at night. Would definitely return.
