Year round single family home on a quiet, residential street is a short stroll from restaurants and shops in village of Harwichport. Built in 2000, this home has everything needed for your stay in Harwichport. The first floor has a fully equipped kitchen and eating area joined by a living area. A separate living room doubles as a bedroom with a full futon. A full bath and laundry complete the first floor. Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with a set of twin beds. Another full bath is upstairs. After swimming, roll our beach cart and chairs back to the house and enjoy the enclosed outdoor shower before starting the grill for dinner. All bed linens and towels included.
The Pilot House was built in 2000 to replace a cottage that had been part of Stedman Lodge/Harborwalk Guest House since the turn of the century. Harborwalk is presently rented weekly each summer by family groups. The Pilot House is occupied in the winter by property owners the Barry family.
Maggie Stella purchased this house in 2000
Marilyn and Preston Barry purchased Stedman Lodge in the 1970s and ran it as a summer guest house until a few years ago. Since then, the Barry family remains in Harwichport year round, but the property is rented by the week rather than daily, as the third generation is now taking part in the family business.
The Pilot House offers privacy yet the convenience of the Sundae School close by. After walking home from a day at the beach, sit under the trees in the yard to relax. Take part in a variety of recreational activities: tennis, golf, walking, biking, swimming, boating, fishing all steps from the house.
We stayed in this house in August 2014 with our two teenage children. Sweet house, great size, plenty of room. Nice quiet location, though just across the field from the ice cream shop!, and a very short walk to the beach along a pretty road with a harbor along it.
We would recommend to the owners that they get some new beds as they were fairly uncomfortable and some new towels as they were pretty small and frayed for the price of the house. Nice to have linens and towels provided, and beach chairs. Very nice owner who lives just up the driveway but not omnipresent. There if you need anything.
Sundae School ice cream is great but you can skip Embers next door to it. Bad food, surly service.A charge for extra salad dressing on a dry salad? Are you KIDDING me?? Skip the bad pizza, go straight for the ice cream!! Don't be fooled by the fire pit and chic looking atmosphere from the outside. Good fried seafood for a treat at the Original, along Rte. 28 in Dennis. Locals say it's the best. Trust them! Fried clams will cost you, but they are divine. Sweet downtown area in Harwich Port and close to bike path.
Lots of places to shop, browse, even two consignment stores! Something for everyone.
Wychmere Harbor Club is a short stroll down the street; this location is perfect for events at the Club. No car is needed to enjoy your week here. This single family home is located on a quiet residential street near everything you need for your week in Harwichport. Walk to the golf course, get right on the Cape Cod Rail Trail(bikes), or take the family down the street to the warm water beach.
