This beautiful home of over 3000 sq ft of living space is a retreat of privacy and serenity in a convenient accessible Hermosa location. This custom hand peeled log home is located on the hill side with Ponderosa Pines, a manicured lawn for family gatherings, flower beds with unobstructed views of the Animas Valley and the Red Cliffs through floor to ceiling windows in the great room/living room and front deck. The home has three bedrooms and three full bathrooms with beautiful tile, wood and carpeted floors, a river-stone fireplace, oriental rugs and stunning artwork by local artists. The home has a modern kitchen with granite counter tops, Bosch dish washer and black appliances. A laundry room with a front loading washing machine and clothes dryer. High speed cable, WI-FI, 60' flat screen Vizio TV, DVD, VCR, stereo system with I pod connection and games are available for your indoor entertainment. Fantastic for the whole family

The view from the main living room and deck of Xanadu was simply breathtaking. The kitchen was very well stocked and provided ample room for us to prepare and cook together as a family. The office room upstairs allowed the grown ups to play games and relax together while the little ones slept. The outdoor space was immaculately kept, the hot tub was so relaxing, and the owners were incredibly responsive to any needs we had. We didn't want to come home!

Best rental in Durango!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about how well prepared this home was as a VRBO. There was not one thing that we needed, that it did not provide. The house was super clean. The kitchen had everything in it to pull off a delicious breakfast, great dinner or a fabulous cocktail party. The patio had enough seating for a large gatherings in and around the whole place. Each room was designed to make you feel warm and comfortable. The views from this property were amazing. From the patio, see the beautiful red rock cliffs to the narrow landscape towards downtown Durango. At night you see the glimmering lights of the country houses to the city. Most nights you can enjoy the stars and all the evening sky's glory. The best part of each day was hearing the whistles of the Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge train that passes by at the base of the mountain several times in the morning and evening. We elected to rent this house for a couple of reasons. First, we are very familiar with the Hermosa Creek area and new that this would be an ideal place to stay. Second, we did our research and found that this house offered everything that we wanted and more. It may be a few extra minutes drive to downtown Durango, but it is so worth it! On a last note, the rental agent was extremely good about getting back with us on any questions or concerns that we had. We are looking forward to coming back to Xanadu.

Ideal for multi-generation family vacations

This lovely home was perfect for our family vacation. The great room and deck were perfect for family gatherings. The separated bedrooms and dens provided comfortable spaces for privacy and quiet conversations. The yard was perfect for our 2 year old grandson to run and play. The photos provided by owner speak for themselves - beautiful surroundings & quality home. Manager was accessible prior to our arrival and during our stay.

Family Reunion for Daughter's Graduation

We had a large family reunion to celebrate my granddaughter's graduation from high school, and this beautiful house set the scene and acted as our headquarters. We had an absolutely wonderful weekend of cooking and eating meals together, enjoying the spectacular view, playing on the grass, napping, and listening to the birds. The kitchen was very well equipped with excellent, new appliances. The abundant presence of wood and art throughout the house created an atmosphere of beauty, warmth, peacefulness, and solidity that I have rarely experienced in a home. If I could imagine a dream home, this would be the one. It was the perfect setting for our graduation party, and such a pleasure to everyone who came. We had to move the party inside due to weather, (originally planned to be out in the gorgeous yard), but there was plenty of room. Bedrooms, Bathrooms, and multiple livingrooms were all filled with unique touches and features too numerous to mention. I highly recommend this house to anyone who wants a special place to stay - just being there is a wonderful experience. The short drive to the store and town is very easy and one of the most scenic stretches in the area. Even on the holiday weekend we were there, traffic was never a problem.

Located in Hermosa, this custom log home is less than ten miles from historic Durango and a mile from Trimble Hot Springs and Spa and Dalton Ranch Golf Club, which makes it a perfect place for a Southwest Colorado getaway. Ponderosa pines, Aspen and a manicured landscape makes this Colorado log home an unique place to spend your vacation in the Animas Valley in Colorado. The Durango Mountain resort with many outdoor activities is only 15 miles north. The historic mining town of Silverton is only 45 minutes away by car or take the historic Durango-Silverton narrow guage train. The town of Ouray (Switzerland of America), has Hot Springs and the drive on the scenic Million Dollar Highway will take your breath away. There's plenty of parking available. The home is appoximately 45 minutes from the LaPlata/Durango airport with shuttle service and car rental available at the airport.
