This Central City house was perfectly located for easy access to the trolley, nice restaurants and Lafayette Cemetery.
The owners, Ann and Randy were wonderful hosts and easy to communicate with.
The reason for my 4 star rating, however was that for the money, the interior of the house did need some updating. The living room chair upholstery was badly torn, a small area of floor boards in living room was also coming up. The ac fan was quite strong in the upstairs tv room so we were always a bit chilly and the room itself had a definite musty smell, though of course we did appreciate having air conditioning with the high outside temperatures. This review is not meant to diminish the charm of this lovely old home since we did appreciate the opportunity to stay here. However, be aware of the additional fees before booking of which there were many!
We appreciate the feedback, but must respond to address inconsistencies in this review as we consistently receive 5 star reviews. In New Orleans, VRBO now collects fees from online bookings for short term licensed rentals. There is a daily fee, a hotel/motel tax occupancy fee & VRBO charges a guest booking service fee and a 3% payment processing fee. This guest booked via vrbo using the online agreement and signed our private rental agreement with a copy for their records detailing everything. Every property rented in New Orleans and with VRBO will have these fees. Our guess is that the fees stimulated the additional questionable comments. Money does that kind of thing. There were no surprises for this guest. We even stocked the fridge w water soft drinks and beer along w a gift for them as a sign of appreciation as they were celebrating a birthday. There were nothing but wonderful remarks to us from arrival thru departure. Our guess is they just didnt like the NOLA, VRBO and processing fees. The referenced chair is an antique and has a dusted fabric for aesthetics that everyone appreciates and loves the look as floor 1 is a combo of new, antique & shabby chic with old St Louis exposed brick walls in two areas that are embraced by all. The few boards are in a corner and not in a foot traffic area and are being replaced by a plumber who made an error and were pointed out to this guest at arrival. There is not a ceiling fan in the 3rd floor media room and all controllers are digital for temperature adjustment. All HVAC units went through their annual maintenance with a well respected hvac specialist just prior to this guest arriving and work at top efficiency. It's fantastic that we can keep our home cool during the heat. Thus we cant understand that comment on temperature or the musty comment as that must be an exterior humidity issue from guests who are not used to deep south weather in summer. We're stunned by that remark as this is a very high end home recently renovated with the highest ratings and single best location in NOLA. We still gave them high guest ratings so they dont have an issue booking homes in the future.
Tulane Law School Celebration
Had a wonderful time in NOLA at this wonderful property. Had all the amenities promised in a great location. We were able to walk or UBER to everything easily. Was very comfortable and clean and we felt very safe in this area. Owners were very hospitable and helpful. Highly recommended!
Wonderful home and location
Beautiful home in a beautiful neighborhood. Home was appointed well and there was nothing we reached for that wasn't available. Close walk to coffee shops and restaurants. Comfy beds and nice towels. Lovely homeowners to work with as well. We would certainly stay here again!
Wonderful property in the heart of the Garden District
Great location right on the streetcar line, and the house is beautiful. Ann and Randy gave us great restaurant recommendations, and were very accommodating with our schedule, letting us check in early and out late. We had plenty of room for 3 couples, and would absolutely stay here again.
We enjoyed the home, but felt it was a little worn--sheets, the upstairs shared bath--
some of the upholstery was torn and ripped. Could use a little TLC. But it is a lovely
townhome and we enjoyed the visit.
We're happy to hear that this party enjoyed their stay and describe our home as lovely along with the enviable location. Every review to date on our home has been 5 STARS. We're perplexed by a few things mentioned as most linens, sheets, etc. are Ralph Lauren or a brand of the highest quality and the moment our housekeeper or us notice any imperfection, they are replaced. No furniture is ripped or torn. We do have two period antique chairs that are primarily used for decorative purposes where the fabric is dusted for aesthetics. Most visiting NOLA love the idea of keeping the character of French & Creole flavor in the decor as is the case with all rooms (bathrooms included) as opposed to the spec house cookie cutter designs of the day. We pride ourselves in going overboard for any guest so they may enjoy their visit to NOLA. We were informed on the day of arrival by the family of the lady who authored this review that she may not make the trip due to personal reasons. We've asked her in writing, if and when she arrived and departed, but yet to receive a reply. Thus, as of this response, we cannot confirm that this author actually visited our home. We've developed many empowering relationships with guests and all reviews are consistently at 5 star status.
Great spot in a great city
We enjoyed our stay in this clean, spacious home in the lovely Garden District. Situated between downtown and the lively Magazine Street, we had a great time exploring this magical city. The owners were communicative and helpful. Highly recommend a visit!
