About Michael and Sarah
Michael and Sarah live in St. Paul, Minnesota with our two little girls. We are working on enjoying beauty of freezing cold winters. We love traveling, meeting new people and making memories with our family and friends.
Michael and Sarah purchased this Condo in 2012
Why Michael and Sarah chose Luquillo
Luquillo is special to our family. We started vacationing here over 10 years ago with our parents and were 'hooked!' Now we bring our own children and hope they'll feel the same as they grow up. Playa Azul I is on the beach with the scenic views we love. There's nothing better than a relaxing morning on that balcony...except maybe a relaxing evening on the balcony after a day at the beach.
What makes this Condo unique
Our apartment has views of both El Yunque Rainforest and the ocean. We feel so relaxed and at home in Playa Azul. We hope you will feel the same!!

Thanks Michael, great stay! Best part was opening the door the first time and seeing the view we'd have for the week!! Location is fantastic! We did day trips to San Juan, Vieques, El Yunque and El Hippie. Beach across the street is awsome (would be nice if the back gate wasn't locked at 7 PM). Visited El Flamboyán for food and drink multiple times as well as the food Kiosks. Unfortunately the pool was still closed. Hairdryer was missing, TV, Wi-fi and coffemaker were not working. (Michael credited me for coffee!) Condo was fine but can use an update. Middle room gets very warm. All in all, though, place is five stars!
This apartment is as described with all the amenities mentioned. Checking in was easy once I read the instructions sent to me. The property management company wasn't available when we checked in, but the owner had left good instructions. Details about the apartment are well documented in the HomeAway app - make sure you read them or you'll think things aren't working when you just need to turn on their circuit.
We visited in summer so the a/c was necessary come early morning for sure to sleep. The breezes in the living spaces are great but July was sometime too hot to enjoy them still.
The beach is lovely and people are very friendly. We felt secure and at home.
We enjoyed our stay
Had a great experience here and found the staff and permanent residents to be nice and friendly. We stayed here over the 4th and noise from the beach was terrible that day. If you like quiet days you may not find it here.
Comfortable and convenient
We needed a two bedroom place in Luquillo for one night and this was a good location and price. The waves were incredible to listen to outside the window and it would be a good place to take all their beach items and spend a few days. However we did have issues getting the air conditioning to completely cool in the bigger bedroom- if we had plans to be there longer we would have asked for maintenance. Building felt very safe and there were lots of options for meals if you didn’t want to cook (though they had a nice kitchen). Overall this is a good place to stay
Thanks, Jennifer. We have continued to work with management on the AC and it seems to be back to frosty again. Grateful for your visit!
It was a good stay, checkout time should be a little later. Pool area out of service but other than that, everything was ok.
Thank you for staying at our beach home- we appreciate the checkout feedback and will check in with management and other owners about that. Typically cleaners need some time between check out and potential for next check in. We hope the pool will be completed soon- we miss it too. For now, our rate reflects the loss of that amenity. Thanks again for choosing our place!
This is a wonderful condo for families, very secure and close to everything you will need! We would definitely go back!
*Zip Lining at Toro Verde or JungleQui or many other eco parks with tons to do.
*Hiking and bird watching at El Yunque National Forest -- we recommend starting at the visitor center (when open) for fun trails and information.
*Canoeing with Iguanas looking on at the Humacao Nature Reserve (you can also rent bikes and hike the trails here)
*Bioluminescent Bay trips from Fajardo.
*The beach in front of the condo is beautiful brown sugar sand, often will volleyball nets set up and during certain times of year, sea turtle nests. Larger waves here.
*Luquillo Beach (Balneario La Monserrate) is down the road (walkable by beach or road, or a short drive) and is one of the best beaches for spending a relaxing day with friends, alone or with young children. Very small waves, beautiful view, lots of amenities. *beach is closed now due to the hurricanes. visit their site to keep up to date: https://islandsofpuertorico.com/balneario-monserrate-luquillo-puerto-rico/
*Amazing food at Di Yuccas in Fajardo, beach bites right in Luquillo at Board Riders and of course the food and shopping at the kiosks in Luquillo. El Verde BBQ just off of PR-3 is delicious! Our favorite little local bar El Flamboyan is just steps from your condo-- the coldest beer in town and delicious sandwiches, eggs and fried chicken (Chicarrones de Pollo).
**Double check your location before you go to make sure they are operational after the hurricanes.
