About Chet Davis
Just an ordinary guy who has been able to live an extraordinary life!!
Chet Davis purchased this Townhome in 1999
Why Chet Davis chose Strivers' Row
Always wanted to own a Brownstone home in Manhattan...love the old charm...I have been able to mix the old with the new without the property losing its old charm....also the neighborhood is a very lovely quiet tree-lined block.
What makes this Townhome unique
The foyer is one of beauty......the craftsmanship of all the beautiful wood-work in these type of homes is not seen anymore..from the pocket doors to the French shutters etc.

Great Value in NYC for 4 people
Chet the owner lives downstairs and was very cordial and most accommodating.
The unit was conveniently located to public transport for both buses and subways which made for easy travel into other parts of Manhattan. We used the 7 day Metro pass for $33 in Sept 2018 which was good on all transport including travel to/from LaGuardia.
Everything you could need for your stay (supermarket, deli's etc) was easy walking distance.
We were 2 couples and it was a very comfortable size for us. We were in the unit on the 2nd floor, there is another unit on the 3rd floor. The unit is long and narrow, the one bedroom is very large and had 2 double beds in it, an attached bathroom and the balcony led off this bedroom. The 2nd bedroom is very small just barely fit the queen bed and the 2nd bathroom was also very tiny and was next to the kitchen. The beds were reasonably comfortable but the mattress and some pillow protectors were made of plastic which I found to be a little annoying.
Our unit did not have a dishwasher or washer/dryer. There was a small round table in the kitchen that could seat 4 if you pulled it away from the wall, there was another table in the living area that could also be used but there were side tables that we used when all 4 of us needed a table. The living area had a couch and chair which would really only comfortably accommodate 4 adults. However there were other chairs available so you could seat more people if you were a larger group. There was a small TV in the living area but we did not really use it.
The kitchen was well furnished for 4 people, inc coffeemaker, toaster, blender, pots and pans. You would need more plates etc if you were a larger group which I'm sure Chet would provide. There were some basics available, sugar, salt, pepper.
There was no one in the 3rd floor unit for most of our stay, on the last night there was and we could hear them walking around quite easily.
Having not been to NYC for many years I was unsure what it would be like staying in Harlem however I always felt safe and had no concerns.
Overall we were very happy with our stay as it was great value and would have no hesitation in recommending it for a larger group that wants space which is always a premium in a place like NYC.
This is a spacious, comfortable apartment with 2 baths..... very nice!
We Loved It!
Visited NY with my wife and two teenage children, whom had never been to NY. This brownstone and Harlem gave them a good sense of what life is like in NY, especially given its proximity to the subways and buses. The apartment itself was very comfortable for the four of us and met our needs much better than a hotel would have for an extended stay in NY. We will definitely look to stay here again when we visit NY in the future. Thanks Chet, you were a great host.
Enjoyed our stay.
Thank you Chet for a lovely stay. The apartment has plenty of room. My husband and I along with my son's stayed for a week. We loved having two bathrooms and the kitchen was well equipped with the basics. The apartment is located two blocks from the subway. Neighborhood was quiet and we recommend staying at this lovely apartment.
Very clean, nice, quiet for the city.
Thank s to Chet for a really nice, no hassle stay. I recommend Chet’s place. It is close enough to the trains to get downtown and a short walk to some popular Harlem hotspots for food and live music. We had plenty of room, nice kitchen space, two bathrooms. The beds were fine and felt clean. Would definitely stay again.
Spacious, Comfortable and Beautiful
Two adults and two teens had plenty of room in this beautiful apartment, and we loved having two bathrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed and it’s close to several subway routes. Chet is helpful as can be, and we’d definitely stay here again.
Lovely neighborhoods of turn-of-the-19th century buildings...historic churches and parks as well as a variety of restaurants within walking distance...subways are a two to three block walk....Times Square is a 15 minute subway ride...Wall Street is a 25 minute subway ride...grocery stores are within a two or three block walk
