Lovely updated cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

This is exactly what we hoped for when booking a cabin in the woods. It was recently updated, nice clean and comfortable for our family. Our favorite part was the horses freely roaming the property. They came right up to our cabin and let us pet them. The scenery was beautiful, location was quiet and peaceful. Only negative was the hot tub had too many chemicals and it was so potent we couldn't go in due to the smell of the chemicals. However that was not our main priority so it didn't bother us too much. Overall a great stay and the management was very friendly and nice!

Just a few things we should have questioned more before the 30 limit was up. I would have cancelled this reservation. This is 5 miles out of Nemo then down a mile gravel road up a steep gravel hill and another 1/2 mile of gravel to the cabin not real great or motorcycles which the owner knew we were bringing. Next it is stated there is not WIFI however there is no service period not even phone service. There is not air conditioning but that turned out to be a non issue since the nights were cool enough as long as you had all the windows open, the ceiling fans running and the box fans running to cool the place. The owner states there is laundry but that is giving the owner your clothes to wash but there was not a charge. If you like remote this is the place for you we did see wild life and free range horses. The pictures do not do the place justice it is a very nice place could have been cleaned better a large cob web has hanging from the ceiling in the kitchen. Just be sure to check everything when you check in and everything when you check out as we were dinged for a supposed broken lamp and when I saw the picture of the lamp pretty sure that was not even in the cabin so BEWARE!

Owner's Response: Sirs and Madams, Here are the facts: 1) My cleaning staff is proficient and usually awesome, I appreciate the notice of the cobwebs in the ceiling. 2) I am working on the internet issue for this cabin, hopefully will be resolved by next summer season. Verizon and AT&T cell customers can get service on the hills of my property. This cabin unfortunately is in the lowest part of the property. 3) The lamp was in the smaller bedroom on the dresser perfectly fine the day they checked-in because the lightbulb was changed in it that day. 4) The day they checked-out it was broken when the dresser was dusted for the check-in that afternoon. 5) I took lamp out of cabin took pictures in my office of broken lamp, emailed to parties involved. Deducted $20 from refundable deposit then returned $280 to the parties' Credit Card as per policy. I have in past and will in the future tell motorcyclists that my cabins are off the beaten path and there is a gravel road. I have also now included that in the property description.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place. The cabin is even cuter in person. We are a family of 6. It was a perfect fit size wise for us. The hot tub is a nice bonus. The horses came to visit every morning which was a lot of fun. Allison the owner was super nice and welcoming when we arrived and then let us be to enjoy our vacation. But anytime we had a question for her she was always there with a quick response. She was the perfect balance. The beds were comfy and the cabin had everything we needed. We were worried about it not having air conditioning but Allison assured us it was unnecessary with the lows being in the 50s at night. She was exactly correct. In fact one night in our August stay it was in the 30s and there was snow left from a thunderstorm that went through. I highly recommend staying here. You won't be disappointed.

Great cabin back in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin back in the woods - no neighbors and lots of national forest surrounding it. Horses roaming around the property - our kids were psyched and got to feed them carrots. Hot tub was awesome on the cool nights, and the cabin had lots of room for 6 of us (4 kids). Screened in porch was nice too in the evening on during the day. The interior is very nice - the wood paneling is all done using beetle kill pine which has a bluish hue. Allison the owner was super helpful and very nice. Good launching pad for getting to Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower, Badlands, Deadwood, Custer, etc. We did lots of hikes right out the door, and tons of trails in the area were great for mt biking too.

We came out for Sturgis 2013. Had a wonderful time riding the Black Hills of South Dakota. This cabin was so nice and the owner was very helpful when one of our party had bike trouble. The price was great too. The road is gravel, but we seemed to do well even on the bikes. Lots of deer and wildlife too. Every morning the horses came by to visit. The little town of NEMO, SD is a nice place to stay and the Volunteer Fire Dept has full breakfast every day during the Rally. Over all, it was a great week.
