Modern Architecture Jewel - Private and 2 Blocks to Beach

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,800 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 31 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths

The house accommodates parties of up to 6 adults, or 4 adults with up to 4 younger children.

Designed by local Santa Barbara architect David Vanhoy, this light-filled modern beauty is located next to a historic nature preserve (Douglas Family Preserve) and two blocks from the steps that go down to Arroyo Burro Beach.

It was just remodeled in January 2013. Some of the improvements included the installation of ceramic tile flooring throughout the house, new bathroom glass tiles and fixtures, and a steam shower to indulge in a relaxing steam bath in the master bathroom.

In addition it has been furnished anew following a modern aesthetic with focus on simplicity, comfort, and beauty. Some of the furnishings are high quality modern european imports, and some are made by californian artisans using reclaimed materials.

There are examples of Mr. Vanhoy's clever architectural implements throughout the house, like the sliding bathroom cabinets that pull out from behind the master bathroom mirrors. But the main architectural attraction of the house is a breathtaking great room, spacious and flooded with light, with a high ceiling that seems to float above glass walls.

The house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and will sleep comfortably 6 adults or up to 4 adults and 4 children.

In addition there is a tranquil separate office with a view of the front yard, couch, and a large desk and file cabinet.

A lovely backyard with a patio area appointed with a professional grade BBQ and inviting adirondacks adds a final compliment to this beautiful home.

Convenience stores are nearby (within a mile you'll find a shopping square with large organic and gourmet grocery store, pharmacy/drugstore, cafe, restaurants, etc.) the many attractions of downtown and the wharf and harbor area are just a 10 minute drive away. But you come back home to the quiet of this mesa neighborhood and the beauty of its cliffs overlooking the ocean.

Perfect house with great location

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautiful home during a sabbatical.

The house has everything we needed, modern European design, well equipped kitchen, 2 great bathrooms with tube and stream shower.

The house and area is very perfriendly, just steps away from a off leash dog park and beach.

The owners were very helpful with every detail.

the perfect family beach house

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this house was perfect for our month-long return to Santa Barbara to visit friends and enjoy summer family activities. The house has everything you need to feel at home. The kitchen is well stocked with tools and equipment, the floor plan is great for gathering family and also allows quiet and privacy for resting. The location on the Mesa is excellent with proximity to beach walks and lots of convenient shopping and dining. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and very friendly. Our dog was especially happy as this is one of the dog friendliest corners of Santa Barbara with Douglas Preserve just steps from the house. Ana and Maria were so welcoming, helpful and responsive. We hope to return again to this house and we highly recommend it to anyone!

Amazing vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at this fabulous home. It is clean, comfortable, well furnished, and has all the amenities we need and more! Plenty of awesome toys for our little ones and an amazing location for the beach, hiking, sunsets, and more. The bedrooms are lovely and quiet. Everything about this house is wonderful. We will definitely be coming back and making this our retreat and home away from home.

Relaxing Mod Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This house was a perfect 10 for us. It was like living in a DWELL Magazine spread!! We had a great time relaxing in the yard and also lounging indoors. Every amenity was there. Anything you could think of. Awesome seafood restaurants or just hit Lazy Acres grocery store and cook in. Perfect space for cooking and entertaining friends. It's close to a great beach with perfect whale watching. Watch the tide charts and walk at low tide for maximum beach real estate. And also just a short drive or bike ride from state street. We were 2 adults, a 3 year old and a dog. We loved it! It was a designer's paradise!
