Located in the Jamestown Village section of Conanicut Island, this vacation rental property is just a quick walk from Narragansett Avenue restaurants, East Ferry, West Ferry, and Mackerel Cove. Beavertail Lighthouse and Jamestown Golf Course within a few minutes drive. Take the ferry to Newport, or take a 15-minute drive to Narragansett or Scarborough beaches. With 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, it has amenities to sleep 12 including a bunk room, large dining and living rooms, a deck and outdoor shower. Great for families with kids, next door to playground and near tennis and basketball courts at elementary school. No more than 12 people in house including kids, please.
When we purchased the house, it was in rough shape cosmetically, but the bones were good. Originally a small fishing cottage built in the 1930s, the house acquired a large addition around 2006. While the architectural execution melding the old and new might have benefitted from a little more vision, the interior renovations we did make the most of cottage charm, while injecting personality into the new larger living areas.
Christine Tieri purchased this house in 2011
After having vacationed in Jamestown for over 10 years we found a great property that was close to all the action. Perfect for families with kids of all ages: for little kids, we are right next door to playground and close mackerel cove, for teenagers, the can bring bikes to ride around the island or get ice cream down at east ferry, and for big kids, the restaurant scene and music at the Ganny can't be beat. If you've never been to Jamestown, it's a quiet, beautiful island to get away from it all. But within a short drive or ferry ride, you can be in the hustle and bustle of Newport, Narragansett, or Wickford.
Bunk room sleeps 6 and has tons of games and a foosball table.
Living room has plenty of comfortable seating and TV and DVD for watching movies.
Dining room has great big table made of antique barn door.
There is an office, just in case you need to get some work done, and there is wifi conveniently located across the street at the library.
The three upstairs bedrooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable.
Both bathrooms have been completely renovated and are pristine.
This house was the perfect size for our large group in the perfect location. We had plenty of room for our group of 12 to spread out both inside and outside. The house was in great shape and fully equipped with everything we needed. It was also great for those of us without a car - easy walking to the harbor, ferries to Newport, a swimming beach, grocery and liquor stores, a fish market and farm stand a little further off, and centrally located for biking adventures around the island (easily rented nearby). I highly recommend this rental!
House was immaculate! Plenty of space to spread out. Felt comfortable sending the kids to the playground or library while we cooked meals; delicious macaroons at the bakery across the street, and market/liquor store was just a 5 minute walk. Icecream at the harbor was the best and best enjoyed at Beavertail for sunset. We had an excellent first mate on our harbor shuttle to Newport who entertained the kids and knew everything about the area. We could do as much or as little as we wanted. Just beautiful!
This was our second year in Jamestown, and the kids looked forward to the bunk room sleep accommodations, and the freedom they enjoy being able to walk to the library and playground. We love the rocks and hiking, as well as a ferry to Newport. Plenty to do and see - regardless of the weather.
This house has such a nice location. Easy walk to downtown, all the shops, bars, harbour, and if you are up for it, the walk to the beach. It was a bit noisy as it is on the corner of a major road, and busy intersection close to the library. BUT, I said library. Fun kids playground within a frisbee throw too.
The house didn't feel like a rental, but it also didn't feel like you were invading someone's home. Wood, and carpet and decor, very nice.
PROS: Close to everything - ice cream shops, bars, restaurants, harbour, beach.
Cozy, pleasantly scented, lots of windows, light, wooden deck and cornhole game. Interior was very well done, updated bathrooms, and kitchen.
We'd stay there again in a heartbeat!
CONS: No wifi ( i know, i know - who needs it on vacay....) but I just brought a MiFi.
Lovely home. Beautifully and comfortably set up. Loved the great-room that opened on to the deck which felt quite private. Bunk room is great especially of you have a gang with you. So nice that we could walk to town for dinner or ice cream etc. Nice beach that was biking distance. The only thing that would have been nice was to have WI-FI ....but since one is supposed to be relaxing on vaca....it was OK :)
I recently stayed here with my family and found the place to be very convenient to everything including town and nearby family friendly beach. Lots of space for a large family and perfect for children with a nearby park and library. Something for everyone! The house was clean and comfortable and the owners were very responsive. Our only feedback is that it would have been nice to have wireless access but the cafe in town was very nice and had good coffee. Definitely would recommend.
