This 100-year-old bank was left to ruin, after a larger bank bought it out and closed it down.
The open design of the Bank makes it ideal for 2-3 adults plus children. The only bathroom is accessed through the main bedroom, off the kitchen.
**Note: If you are one family with more than 5 children coming (NOT adult children :)), and many of them are young, send an inquiry to me with how many adults, how many children plus their ages, and we will consider going over the maximum in this case.
The Bank's septic system is also "historic", and we have to treat it with tender loving care!
The vault is now a bedroom, with a twin over full bunk bed. There's also a TV with video player in the vault (no TV reception), just in case you want to lock your kids in there for a while. (Kidding...the steel vault door is wired open :)
The main teller's area is now the living room with TV/DVD. Plus a table if your group is larger and wants to eat meals in this spacious room. The living room has a twin day bed, and a twin trundle bed.
Off the living room is the former office area, which now has a queen size bed, a large reading chair with ottoman, and a nice-sized closet filled with extra linens, blankets, and some games and puzzles.
The kitchen is in the back of the bank--this was the employees' area. It comes complete with dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster oven, pots and pans, dishes, coffee maker, and a small dining area.
Off the kitchen is the laundry area, and that leads to the full bath, with tub/shower, towels and washcloths, plus hairdryer. (NOTE: The only bathroom is located at the back of the Bank, accessed through the main bedroom and the kitchen.)

Originally from the St. Louis area, I lived in Petersburg from 1998 to 2013. The first time I drove into town looking for a home to buy, the 'Old Petersburg Operahouse' was for sale. Having majored in music many years ago, the old building sent out a siren call for me to buy it! I've been buying and rehabbing in town ever since. In 2011 I opened The Cottage for vacationers. It was a very slow start, and I wondered if it had been the right decision. But soon the Creation Museum guests started arriving--I love my guests! What a joy to interact with these Christian families (many with lots of children :), who are kind and intelligent...and take care of my home! It was obvious right away that a vacation home offers a much-needed alternative to hotel rooms...most of which cannot accommodate the larger families. Also, the ability to cook your own meals instead of eating out can save money. (And doing a little laundry during vacation can rescue you from a mountain of clothes when you get home...;-) I hope you enjoy the adventure of staying in this historic bank building...
Cute house, very small town
We had a very nice stay for our family of 4 (2 adults, two kids ages 5 and 8) at "The Bank". It was very spacious for the 4 of us. We loved the two separate bedrooms and the kids especially liked being able to chill with Netflix to wind down in the evenings. The layout is a little odd if you were staying with friends or those that you were not as close with, as you have to walk through the 'master' bedroom to get to the kitchen and only bathroom. It was about 5 minutes from the Creation Museum, 45 minutes from the Ark and 25 minutes from Newport KY/Cincinnatti. We knew The Bank was in a small town but small doesn't even describe it! It was tiny - the entire town perimeter is 1 mile. It has a handful of houses, 2 churches, a community center, a general store (gas, grocery and a restaurant all in one) and 1 stop sign (no stoplights). This isn't bad; it was just surprising that there was virtually no commerce. We went up a few freeway exits to get to food and groceries. Just something to be aware of! If ever back in the area, we would stay at The Bank again.
This is the second time my boys and I stayed at the Bank, it was great for the four of us.
A comfy home away from home.
The bank was clean and comfortable. There was also a toddler bed rail and booster chair with a tray for making our stay with our kiddos so much nicer. Lots of details were thought out in making this stay nice. Thank you!
Beautiful and comfortable location and property. Friendly and helpful owner and manager.
We enjoyed our stay. The Bank was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. There was a plumbing issue (thus the 4/5 stars) that the property manager quickly helped us with. She went over and above to take care of us.
Very nice and comfortable. Close to the Creation Museum and Ark. The neighborhood was super friendly
We are looking forward to coming back. We want to stay at the Victorian next time. Looks awesome from the outside.
Great, interesting house
Cute little place, would recommend. Kids loved the bedroom in the old vault. Kitchen had everything we needed, just brought food. House was clean and comfortable.
5 miles from the Creation Museum. 16 miles from Perfect North Slopes.
