Nestled in the California hills, this house is a slice of creative luxury mixed with natural beauty.

Vicki's home was an absolute delight. The house is extremely comfortable with creative design elements perfectly planned throughout. The outdoor deck area is beautiful, private and well-maintained. We particularly enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub.

Vicki was helpful in finding the place and our stay was seamless.

You just can't do better

  • 5 of 5

Two retired architects and their wives spent 4 days enjoying this beautiful home and the solitude of it's setting. The open interior plan with a multitude of windows and skylights provides a warm and welcoming interior, we enjoyed the furnishings and took full advantage each evening of places to sit with cocktails and admire our surroundings. The kitchen is huge, well appointed, and the adjacent dining room is open, airy and only required a small candle to have us linger over a lengthy dinner well through dusk. Climbing the spiral stair at the end of the day leads to one of the two cozy bedrooms with baths and this one has a fireplace and small sitting area, a different world. Add to this the outdoor decks, the back one with a firepit, the deer and birds and while we did leave for Tarpys or Carmel, it was always a treat to come back to this home.

We will be back.

An absolutely amazing house!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Vicki and Roberts beautiful and relaxing home for 3 days while attending the Monterey Jazz Festival. They were the perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome. If you need a beautiful restful environment. ..this is definitely it. We enjoyed every aspect of the house, from the fire pit to the jacuzzi to the many deer that we saw on and near the property. The ladies loved the way the kitchen was set up and my wife and I absolutely loved the coziness of the upstairs bedroom with the fireplace. ..sitting area and private balcony. My wife especially loved the step down tub. We have stayed in quite a few homes through this site , both in and out of the country. This was without a doubt one of the nicest. I highly recommend it. Vicki and Robert thanks for everything. We really hope we can do this again next year!

Secluded, everyone have a different interpretation and this house have neighbors, including owners, and parking was tight. There are many rules and you cannot have visitors. Plus who would want curfew on vacations. I read through some reviews and someone mentioned having a family reunion there so I do feel like we were treated different. We felt like we were being watched by parents and as renters we should've felt comfortable. Overall the house is beautiful.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. While we understand that you were disappointed with your original plans for your vacation, we also have rules which are necessary for the preservation of our home. We do have rules regarding parties and events in our home. We have made exceptions for them, in the past, when our guests spoke with us, explained the plans, addressed our concerns, and we were able to make arrangements with them. For family reunions and some other small social gatherings, we can be reasonable. Living within a community, we are bound by the rules of that community, as are our guests. There is an outdoors quiet time between 10pm and 7am. Being a good neighbor as a home owner means we must insist that our guests follow these rules as well. Ours is not a party home from the perspective of some, however, it is the perfect place for relaxation and comfort.

A beautiful property and gracious hosts.

  • 5 of 5

This is a delightful property. It is located in the hills outside Monterey. in a quiet location, nestled in a canyon, surrounded by nature. We did a lot of outdoor living, as there is a choice of outdoor sitting areas, sun or shade, and one with a fire pit for the evening. Birdwatchers would love this house. And watch for the deer.

The house itself is amazing, well designed and furnished, and filled with light. The kitchen was first rate, and there was a wonderful, bright dining area. The bedrooms and beds were comfortable and quiet. The baths were first rate, one including a rain shower and a tub. We were a party of five, two couples and an adult child, and there was comfortable space for all of us. The property also has a second guest house if you have a larger party. Another couple with children had that house during our stay, and we never noticed them. The property is large enough to afford privacy to all.

We had a lot to see in Monterey, but it was hard to leave this house. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all and relax for a few days, this is it.

The Lambert's were also the most gracious hosts. We were welcomed and given instructions on arrival, and got a chance to talk to them again when leaving. This has not been my experience with a lot of VRBO's, and was greatly appreciated. You truly felt like guests.
