Return to the house for dining on the deck, getting into the spa, and enjoying the sunset. A truly unique house in a very unique setting.

You can opt to rent the guest cottage as well (see VRBO #432531) if your group is larger than 6 guests or you would just like more privacy & space. The guest cottage sleeps 2-5 guests & is just across the front courtyard. Completely private from the main house, there are 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, a fully equipped exercise room, a hot tub for 2 overlooking the hills, a firepit on the back deck, and a kitchen (no oven or cooktop).

great retreat!

  • 5 of 5

loved the house! artsy and beautiful. well stocked kitchen, great for cooking in. helpful owners next door, even loaned me some sea salt.

3rd bedroom is fold out couch in open living area. trails in adjacent open space are not really hiking trails but dear paths, and it's quite steep to get up the hill. obviously a drive to get into monterey.

Overall, a great location for a retreat or relaxing weekend with friends or family!

Quiet, Clean & Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I needed a simple weekend getaway from it all and we found it here, nestled in the hills of Carmel. Vicki and Robert have a wonderful home and are both very welcoming to their property. We even got to meet Newton, one of their two Greyhounds that had to come along to greet us. The house is super quiet and clean, just as the photos show. We had an excellent weekend just lounging around. Couldn't ask for more! Thank you both:)

Nestled in the California hills, this house is a slice of creative luxury mixed with natural beauty.

  • 5 of 5

Vicki's home was an absolute delight. The house is extremely comfortable with creative design elements perfectly planned throughout. The outdoor deck area is beautiful, private and well-maintained. We particularly enjoyed the fire pit and hot tub.

Vicki was helpful in finding the place and our stay was seamless.

Spectacular Home!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Vicki and Robert's oasis! We will definitely be back for another visit.

There are so many little touches that make this house one to remember, from the beautiful art pieces to all of the quirky lighting. The house was just as advertised--secluded, quiet, lots of sunshine. We spent time on all of the decks, loved the fire pit and hot tub, and enjoyed spending some time in front of the beautiful fireplace. The only complaint from the guys was there was no ESPN for them to watch sports!

Thanks, Vicki and Robert, for your wonderful hospitality! And thanks for introducing us to your greyhounds!!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure hosting you & thank you again for the bag of Ethiopian coffee beans from your store. Will you tell the guys that ESPN was available. Instructions for accessing ESPN through the Sprint Channel were on the handout explaining how to operate the entertainment system (TV, DVD, Roku, Stereo). Looking forward to having you back soon I hope.

Perfect relaxing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Vicki and Robert's home was the perfect getaway for a much needed girls trip. The house easily accommodated our party of 5 and was just as advertised, great open layout, lots of room, tons of outdoor space, secluded, quiet and full of unique and interesting art. We arrived a little late due to so much traffic, it took us 5 hours when it should've been less than 3 hours. But the directions Vicki provided were perfect, making it super easy to find the house. Once we finally arrived, Robert welcomed us and showed us around the house for about 20 minutes. This was the first time I had rented a house where the owner did this and it was so nice not spending hours trying to figure out how the spa cover worked or how to turn on the fireplaces or fire pit. Also, the bottle of wine from a local winery and chocolate was a great surprise after such a long car trip! The house was super clean and the furnishings were practically new. No complaints about the beds, they were comfortable and we all slept like babies. There were plenty of extras: blankets, towels, pillows, books (so many books!), and movies. We all really enjoyed the location, it was secluded, quiet, and quite picturesque. We spent every evening sitting out back around the fire pit enjoying a glass of wine. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed to make all our meals. The grocery stores are just a 15 minute drive and on Saturday's there is a small farmer's market in Salinas. We visited the farmer's market during our stay and picked up some beautiful strawberries, local honey, and sampled some delicious homemade pita chips and hummus. There is a loft in the upstairs room but we did not venture up there. However, I'm sure if there are kids in your group they would love it. I have already recommended this house to several friends. Vicki and Robert were great and provided excellent customer service.

Six Stars! Enchanting.

  • 5 of 5

This was my second stay in Vicki and Robert's perfect vacation oasis, and our visit was even more relaxing and memorable than last year. In fact, owing in large part to the hospitality of the owners, their attention to every detail, and the overall enchanting quality of the house and property, this was easily the most relaxed I've been on vacation in my adult life. We visited Pinnacles National Park one day, Big Sur the next, and the rest of the time, our party of five just chilled at the house, trying out every outdoor patio table (there are several to choose from), sipping wine, making homemade salsa and guacamole in the Cuisinart (better than the one I have at home), and soaking in the jacuzzi. I was thrilled to see that the owners added a king-size bed upstairs; it's like sleeping in a nest. And the downstairs bedroom has been updated with a whimsical bird theme; very apropos for the nature-centric location. We can't wait to return!
