Located in the heart of the city, you won't have to worry about missing a thing on this adventure to Louisville. This 110 year old Victorian 3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom is located in the one of the cities most coveted Historical Preservation Districts, The Cherokee Triangle. A stone's throw from endless restaurants, night-time entertainment, local breweries and gastropubs, eclectic boutiques, and coffee shops, you will be able to leave your car keys at home and get out and about on the town.
Owned by a native plant enthusiast, this house has a front yard of native Kentucky perennials and an edible backyard of organic vegetables and six lovely laying hens that provide fresh eggs every morning! (no roosters!)
3 blocks from Bardstown Road allows this house to be close enough to the fun but just far away to provide some peace and quiet for some much needed R&R during your visit.
Two blocks in a different direction will get you to Cherokee Park, a nationally registered park designed by Central Park's great Fredrick Law Olmstead. Walking paths, hiking trails, rolling hills, and a golf course provide beautiful scenery to make anyone fall in love with the Highlands of Louisville.
Public Transportation allows easy access to visit downtown Louisville, just 10 minutes away. Lots to do, including:
*Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby
*Bourbon Distillery Tours
*NuLu - an eclectic area of fine restaurants, unique boutiques, laid back coffee shops, and art galleries.
Besides Cave Hill Cemetery just a few blocks away, Louisville also offers history buffs George Rogers Clark's final resting place, Locust Grove. One mile from there is Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. Just across the river is the geologic gem, The Falls of The Ohio.
Also, Food Magazine rates Louisville one of the ten best food towns in America, specializing in farm to fork cuisine at several close-by locations
We were a group of six girls coming to Louisville for some Derby and Bourbon fun. We happened upon Fred & Mary's house while trying to find a place to stay during the Derby and thought that a house would be more fun to stay in than a hotel. We were not disappointed! The Willow House is an absolute delight! Bright, airy, lots of space, amazing location - we could go on and on. The fresh eggs were an added bonus (although we had to work up the nerve to get them!) and were a fantastic addition to our breakfast. The house itself is perfect for a group as it is large enough for people to spread out and yet cosy to be able to hang out (we ended up in the kitchen all the time!). The location is a beautiful area of Louisville - safe to walk around, close to downtown & Churchill Downs, close to bars & restaurants, and close to lovely walking areas/parks/golf courses. We highly recommend the Willow House and would definitely stay here again if we're ever back in Louisville!
Well appointed Cherokee Triangle home in Louisville. Wonderful neighborhood within walking distance to scores of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops etc. Went for a run through a park designed by the legendary Frederick Law Olmstead, which was bursting with fall colors.
the owners are urban farmers and we availed ourselves of the fresh kale and eggs. The bed was one of the more comfortable I've slept on anywhere.
All in all, a really wonderful visit. I can't say enough nice things.
Lovely property and owners. Mary is a delight - we enjoyed the "feed, and let out the chickens " tour. This was a working trip for us. We all wish we had a few more days to just stay and enjoy the area. Thanks Mary and Fred.
The central location was just great. Walking to restaurants and visiting local sites was so easy due to our location. We were within walking distance from Cherokee park which made strolls in the morning easy.
The neighborhood was quiet with mature trees and ample parking. The owners were helpful and made suggestions that eased our decision making. We would recommend this property to friends and family
This house was great. Perfect for our golf getaway. The three-level house was very spacious, and the fresh eggs from the six family chickens was a nice touch. The house is located in a great area, and is an easy walk from restaurants and nightlife. The neighborhood was very nice and safe. I would definitely recommend this property! Thanks Mary and Fred!
