About the property

2 Bedroom 2 Bath: Quiet tropical garden setting Balinese Decor: Hardwood&Granite

This incredible patio home in Mauna Kai captures the true North Shore Feeling. A full luxury remodel has made this the most beautiful condo I have ever seen. Hardwood, granite, and quality furnishings throughout. Please click on the calendar tab above to check availability, it's always up to date. I favor stays that are back to back with other stays or ones that fill gaps of any size.

This condo is in the heart of the lush Kauai north shore. A short hike down the Queen's path takes you to peaceful Anini Beach and the blue Pacific where you can safely swim or snorkel with the whole family. Calm waters and a rich underwater life make Anini beach one of the best swimming spots on Kauai. This peaceful stretch of beach is protected by the largest coral reef in Hawaii, so instead of foamy waves breaking up on the sand, you can expect a lake like atmosphere. The protective reef creates a beautiful blue lagoon, unsuited for surfing or body-boarding, but perfect for swimming. Many other close beaches provide world class scenery, surfing, boggy boarding fun and snorkeling.

Mauna Kai is located between the Prince Golf Course and the Makai Course. This location will provide you with the finest tropical golf in the world, or for some it may just be a beautiful walk and great albatross and whale watching. Morning and sunset views from the golf course and the Westin are fantastic. Mauna Kai's tropical breezes and warm waters can be your next dream vacation. Top off the day with a relaxing dip in your private hot tub at this Mauna Kai patio home. The tropical landscaping is over the top and this fall the avocado tree was dropping fruit! Fresh delicious oranges were plentiful on the tree by the pool.

Our beautiful Mauna Kai home is in a lush garden setting at the end of a quiet walkway. It's a garden level unit with four walk out patios. An incredibly remodeled and custom decorated 1500 square feet with two bedrooms allow plenty of room to relax. Some two bedroom two bath condos are only 1000 sq ft, this is really spacious, even a pack & play for the baby. It has new living room sofa and side chairs that add to the home like feeling, it isn't your typical bare bones condo designed to be indestructible. Free WIFI.

The last owner described the remodel process as a labor of love. He spared no expense in importing the highest quality materials from Bali and the far east. The quality of this Asian decor is usually reserved for private custom homes. A private hot tub off the living room and master bedroom will make the end of your day in paradise complete. The full size Maytag washer/dryer make it your home away from home. We look forward to staying there several times a year and make it feel like home, completely livable and unique.

Tile floors throughout the main floor give it that clean cool feel. The main living area, on the ground floor, stays cooler than units with second or third story living areas. There is no AC, as is the case with almost all Princeville condos and homes. I have never felt a need for it and quickly adjust to the tropical warmth. Wall to wall doors open to all four patios and lush tropical gardens.

The well equipped kitchen is remodeled with beautiful granite counter tops and custom hardwood cabinets from Bali. The new gourmet cook set and Jenn Air range provide a very functional touch. We enjoy great family meals and entertaining for friends and neighbors. The previous owner was an executive chef on a private yacht and added his personal touch.

The master bedroom has a paneled ceiling, entertainment center with new TV. The Japanese shoji screens offer privacy and soft exotic outdoor light. The spacious master bathroom has a double stone sink, full soaking bathtub and shower. The guest bedroom and bath is equally beautiful with antiques, Asian art and hardwood carvings and a nice ceiling fan. A mother of pearl translucent sink is one of the special features.

The Mauna Kai pool is the largest condo pool in Princeville, a pool where you can actually swim laps! The pool is now solar heated, which is greatly appreciated in the cooler winter months. Our condo is close to this great pool. The gazebo offers a gas grill, sink, fridge and space for a private party for 50, however it is usually empty and quiet!

A short drive will take you to Hanalei town or Hanalei Beach Park, an incredible town beach with endless sand, soft waves, wade in swimming and boogie board fun. For the more adventurous, Na Pali Coast hiking, kayaking and Secret Beach are the Ultimate! Secret Beach is a 1/2 mile of ever changing natural sand, waves and cliffs with rarely more than a handful of souls.

A short stroll to the Westin Resort gives you access to the finest luxury spa and dining comforts, without the price of the room. Or maybe just visit for coffee, drinks, excellent whale watching, or the ultimate Bali Hai sunset! Bali Hai is the north shore's canvas for the last sunset in the United States each evening. The mountain's majestic profile is the beginning of the Na Pali cliffs along the north shore of Kauai and provides a romantic backdrop for ocean cruises, helicopter flights, and spectacular hiking adventures. This is the million dollar sunset view just steps from our Mauna Kai condo in Princeville. A stay in our spacious 1500 square foot home is just what you're looking for.

The Princeville Center, 5 blocks away, provides many dining and shopping options, including the local market to stock our fully equipped kitchen. High speed WIFI or plug-in internet service. A HD LCD TV with a DVR and Netflix in the living room and the new second TV in master suite will get you through a rainy day.

Reduced rates are given for bookings that are back to back with other reservations and for those that fill holes between existing bookings. There is no minimum stay for bookings that fill a gap between two other reservations. Call or email me to discuss.

Princeville, on the north shore, is a great base to see everything Kauai has to offer. So come have a wonderful stay in Paradise.

Wow! what a time. This is a Beautiful condo. We have been using VRBO for years all over the world and this was our best vacation yet. The atmosphere is fantastic. The place is very well kept and the kitchen was clean and very functional with everything you need to cook anything you want. It is close to the road but the owner Bruce has thought of everything from full wrap around privacy drapes to Asian sliding panels in the bedroom to bamboo hanging blinds outside around the private hot tub you can have all the privacy you need and then some. It is a great location and anytime you can walk to both the grocery store and the beach (with a small hike) you have nothing to complain about. All the details were presented to us in a timely manner and we did not have to chase the owner for a single thing. As a matter of fact we called the number for the on site handyman with a question and Bruce showed up in person to answer all our needs. Now that is service. There is a reason we chose to return to this Island, because we wanted a stress free vacation, and if that is what you are interested in this is the place for you. We learned something this time with VRBO... it is great to choose a nice rental unit, but it is priceless to have the great service and backup that this owner provided. Thanks again Bruce, we will be returning soon!!!! Aloha

PS if you want to sleep, don't feed the chickens, no matter where you stay, please, don't feed the chickens!

Great condo in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We loved this condo! Great location and the private hot tub was the best. The pool was under repair our whole stay, so we couldn't use it, but we could walk to Anini Beach and see sea turtles while snorkeling! Everything was super clean when we arrived. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Paradise

  • 5 of 5

As if Kauai isn't perfect enough this condo exceeded our expectations. A terrific location to travel around the island from. I absolutely fell in love with the interior design of the condo, it truly felt like home. It was so peaceful and quiet and spacious and cozy. The pool was also truly amazing and my daughter had the time of her life as did myself and my husband. We can't imagine staying anywhere else for our next trip. My daughter affectionately named the rooster and his little family that walks by every day Mr. Pretty Feathers and we just loved to see them walking side by side with the island cats. The lanai was my favorite spot to read every day, really nice to be secluded on the corner without any walkways. Really nice bedrooms, kitchen, tile work, soothing colors, beautiful decoration. Everything about this condo was great.

Perfection in paradise

  • 5 of 5

My family of four stayed at the Mauna Kai condo complex in Princeville, Kauai for a week, and my only complaint is that our stay wasn't long enough! The grounds are absolutely gorgeous-every single window and door you gaze out of fills your vision with lush, green plants, beautifully blooming flowers, and plenty of local wildlife-my kids (7 and 5) couldn't get enough of wild cat, gecko, and rooster watching every day.

The house itself was comfortable and beautifully furnished. We ate breakfast every morning on one of the lanais, inhaling the sweet scent of morning blooms, and finished almost every night soaking in the hot tub, savoring the incredible island weather. The hammock and swinging chair were popular reading spots for my daughter and I, and having Netflix on the tv was great for my son when we had a down day due to an ear infection.

The complex pool was a huge bonus as well-not only is it a very large pool that is always perfectly heated (it is solar-powered we discovered after speaking with one of the caretakers), but we found that it was almost always pretty empty. Comfy lounge chairs, a couple picnic areas with umbrellas, clean restrooms, and even a ping pong table made the pool area a hit with our family.

Another unexpected bonus was simply the location of this condo. A roughly ten minute walk in either direction would place you either on the sand of a gorgeous stretch of beach surrounded by reefs (perfect for snorkeling and swimming with kids), or on a path of a large park, complete with playgrounds and exercise stations.

We will absolutely be staying here again next time we return to Kauai, and adding a few more days on our trip!!! Thank you Bruce for sharing your lovely home with our family, aloha!

A lovely relaxing homey stay in Kauai

  • 4 of 5

This is a home we would definitely return to. The open floor plan gives it a nice breezy open feel, and yet the bedrooms are on opposite ends of the house so you do get plenty of privacy when you want it. The condo pool is nice and big and fun to play ping pong out there too! The kitchen was well equipped, and really we had everything we needed in every department. It took a moment to get used to the gel mattresses, but to each their own--our son loved his! The only difficulties we had lay outside our unit. There were some young men there during out entire stay who were literally hooting and hollering every night. Also our neighbors to the outside of our master bathroom were chain smokers so we could never leave the bathroom screen door open. The grounds are so well tended and obviously loved. The plant life is abundant and varied. So beautiful!

Kauai Weather

Weather you could be enjoying!

Mon 11/26/2012 at 7 pm it is 74°F , today's high was

H 80 F, and the low was L 66 F

Step off the plane and feel the warm embrace of Kauai with average yearly temperatures ranging between 84 and 69 degrees. Ocean temperatures are also perfect ranging from 71 to 81 degrees year round.

Kauai offers seven distinct microclimates, from lush interior spots to arid areas on the West Side. Mount Waialeale (elevation 5,148 ft) is at the heart of Kauai's uninhabited interior and is a quintessential rainforest with over 400-inches of rain per year. The rain that falls around Mt. Waialeale generally does not affect the coastal parts of the island, which get far less rain than the central spots (as little as 18-inches a year in western areas). Much of Kauai's rainfall is a nightly occurrence, and the rain showers that do occur are almost always brief. When you do see rain, wait for the beautiful rainbows that follow.

The trade winds in Kauai also keep things cool for visitors. The winds are generally light and help chase away much of Hawaii’s humidity. With such great weather, any time of year is a good time to visit Kauai.
