Aloha, the Napili Hale is a quaint and relaxing place to stay while visiting Northwest Maui. Napili Hale is a beautiful, 1200 sq/ft, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home. A great home for families! Napili Hale is a two minute walk from Napili Bay, a tranquil, leeward bay with a white sandy beach. Sunsets from Napili Bay are simply surreal with both Lana‘i and Moloka‘i off on the horizon. This house has an attached living area, yet is privately accessed.

Packing for your trip to the Napili Plantation home is easy, as we provide our guests: iron, ironing board, hairdryers in the bathrooms, towels and linen, beach towels, and a starter supply including paper products, trash bags, laundry and dish detergents, soaps and hand soap, shampoo, and conditioner. Air conditioning available in the bedrooms upon request - $22 daily fee.

There are three additional beaches within walking distance (within a mile) north of the house; Kapalua Bay, Oneloa Bay (Ironwoods), and Honokahua Bay (Fleming Beach Park, fronting the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua). All of these beaches are spectacular and beautiful and the Kapalua Coastal Trail connects them all! The Coastal Trail makes for an amazing walk or run any time of day! This trail passes some of Maui’s most pristine sand dune ecosystems as well as an ‘U‘au (Hawaiian dark-rumped petrel) sanctuary at Hawea Point. This trail also connects to the Village Walking Trails and the Honolua Ridge and Maunalei Arboretum Trail systems are nearby. Please inquire about cultural tours of Maui. If you choose to walk along the Lower Road to Kapalua Drive, you will pass several world-class restaurants; the Seahouse Restaurant at the Napili Kai Hotel, Merriman’s Kapalua, The Pineapple Grill and the Plantation House, just to name a few.

There are a variety of activities that you can enjoy in walking distance that include swimming, snorkeling, hiking, boating, tennis, golf and surfing. Ka‘anapali is 5.8 miles south and Lahaina Town is 9.4 miles south. There you can enjoy more beaches, shopping, dining and lots of fun activities and entertainment.

This rental unit is attached to another rental unit, both private and with private entries. Napili Hale has a wonderful yard with a picnic table which are shared with the attached unit. Napili Hale is a wonderful place to experience kama‘aina living and enjoy time with your family and friends!

I am a wife and mother and live on Maui with my family. I have spent my career as a professional archaeologist working on Kaho'olawe, Lana'i and Maui. Our affinity with the outdoors keeps our family busy with hiking, horseback riding, camping and sports of all sorts!! We are people who enjoy a simple life of family, friends and good times!

Why Colleen Medeiros chose Napili

This property gives travelers the opportunity to experience kama'aina (local) island living rather than hotel/resort living. I lived here with my own family for many years before moving and renting it out. This property has been in my family for over 5 generations and I thought keeping it as a rental property would give my family and myself continued opportunities to use it as it is a very sentimental place for us. Like most Hawaiian plantation-style houses, it is modest in size and simple. Much time is spent outdoors at the beach and therefore the house is designed and decorated to accommodate this lifestyle. Over the years, it has become surrounded by condominium complexes and hotels which offer additional amenities such as restaurants, golfing and tennis to name a few.

What makes this House unique

The uniqueness of the house comes with its location and history. This residential neighborhood was once considered a very remote area of Maui where a handful of Hawaiian fishing families lived. In more recent historic times it was surrounded by a multitude of orchards that Honolua Ranch manager David T. Fleming planted in an effort to diversify Ranching operations. The historic Honolua Ranch headquarters were located up Office Road. The Seahouse restaurant across the street at the Napili Kai Resort, was originally the Managers Club for the Honolua Ranch at a time when there where no hotels along Napili Bay. During that time, my great Aunt Lahela lived in a house right where the Napili house is today. There were few other homes around. The few that were nearby were other Hawaiian families, and the Ranch managers. There were plantation camps located along what is now Office Road, where the Ritz Carlton is today. The plantation camps were generally set up by race with individuals and families of Hawaiians, Chinese, and Japanese ancestry living in separate 'camps'. Those who lived at these camps were employees of Honolua Ranch and then D.T. Fleming's plantation/orchards. Napili became a vacation destination in the 1960's and most the condo's and hotels you see there today were built around that time. The Napili house property and the pocket of residential homes immediately surrounding it are some of the last vestiges of the Hawaiian community, and Hawaiian families, that were present prior to the Honolua Ranch era and prior to the areas transformation into a vacation destination. It is really a special place for us as generations of our family have lived here.

                                          Old Hawaii Feel with the Comforts of Modern Living

                                          We had a great stay, the house was very clean and well organized. The design of the house is perfect for a family of ten or just a smaller number of people. The layout is exceptional for a large group. the bedrooms and large baths are separated for privacy and comfort. The beds are great, wonderful sheets and towels, the furnishings are very tasteful and perfect for a great beach house stay. The house has an old Hawaii feel with the comforts of a modern day home. Colleen was wonderful to work with, and seems to have thought of everything. The location is excellent and fun to get to know a new part of Maui. We are looking forward to a return visit.

                                          Wonderful Experience All-Around!

                                          We cannot say enough about how truly wonderful our experience was staying here. We are a large family of 2 adults and 5 kids (ages 4 to 11), and every person absolutely loved the house (my youngest wanted to move in by trip's end!).

                                          First, the location is awesome (right across the street from the best beach in Maui)!

                                          Second, there is ample room for both small to large groups, including an awesome front lawn for kids to run around on.

                                          Third, the place was very clean, well kept, well furnished, and conveniently stocked with a lot of normal household goodies that you take for granted (i.e. shampoo, soap, washer/dryer, detergent, lots of towels, awesome gas grill, etc.).

                                          And last but not least, Colleen was an absolute pleasure to work with, and the most responsive owner I've ever worked with. She will not disappoint!

                                          We were very, very satisfied with this property and hope to visit some time in the near future! Definitely a recommend to anyone looking for a great location, great experience, and great time in Maui.
