About Debbie Rainford - Owner/property manager
My husband and I both grew up in England and moved to the United States (the Cincinnati area) over 20 years ago. We have always enjoyed vacationing in the Smoky Mountains and have been repeat visitors with our family for many years. We have stayed at many cabin locations throughout the region and were delighted when we were able to purchase this cabin which is located in our favorite location of all - above the Arts and Craft Community of Gatlinburg and close to all the other fun activities the area has to offer.
Debbie Rainford - Owner/property manager purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Debbie Rainford - Owner/property manager chose Gatlinburg
We have a lot of experience as vacation guests of many other cabins and, as such, have provided what we consider to be the best of all worlds into our own cabin to ensure a memorable experience for our visitors. We feel a combination of rustic charm, combined with all the modern amenities of today (such as HDTV's, WiFi and Internet, Video games, Pool Table, Large Spa, Gas grill and well equipped kitchen) as well as a location that is quiet and peaceful, but very accessible to local shops and attractions is the way to go. New heating and air systems with expanded airflow ensures a comfortable environment throughout the cabin in all seasons. Newly stained and sealed for a beautiful exterior (it gleams in the sunlight) as well as free from drafts and air leaks. The location of my cabin was also critical. In the Mountain Shadows Resort you have facilities such as a community pool, pavilion and outdoor playground. The cabin is nestled among trees and wildlife but not totally alone. The cabin is on a quiet road with other cabins where we all enjoy a superb seasonal view of the Smoky Mountains. The sunrises over the mountains should not be missed from the rocking chairs on the upper deck or the spa on the lower deck. Access to local shops are a short drive away and of course the Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge or all within easy reach.
What makes this Cabin unique
Our whole family fell in love with the cabin when we first saw it without furnishings and realized its potential. The cabin is very spacious, well laid out and the views from the decks beautiful. We set about equipping it with all of the furniture and equipment that would exceed the expectations of all ages and interests of our guests. We love to sit in the log rocking chairs in the mornings, drinking our tea, as we plan our day together. At night, my family and I really enjoy the hot tub while looking at the stars. For those interested in playing pool you can have a friendly game on the upper loft area while still keeping up with the latest sports or news on TV. In the evenings, we also enjoy relaxing in the main room while watching a good movie together on the 55' HDTV. When you retire to the privacy of your own room, it is a great feeling to be in a log bed, with top of the line pillow top mattresses and watching some late night TV. If you have kids, there is plenty for them in the bunk room. The log beds are fun to climb and the PS2 games always a hit.

We were in the area for the Great Smoky Mountains. The house is only 10 minutes from the main gate, but far enough away from the congestion of downtown Gatlinburg. Debbie was easy to work with with quick responses to questions. The cabin is very comfortable - our kids especially loved the upstairs game room. The quiet street was an added bonus.
We were looking for a place to stay that was not too far from the Rocky Top Sports Complex and not too far from downtown Gatlinburg, however, close enough for us to travel there to enjoy the area. Our Brigadoon cabin was perfect and exceeded all our expectations. The cabin was spacious for our group and the owners recommendations to avoid traffic when arriving were spot on. We were able to relax when we arrived and avoided the normal heavy traffic. The owners recommendation of Theee Jimmy's restaurant was absolutely perfect for our group as the restaurant was close, entertaining for every age group and the food was great. We only ate out one day as we cooked all other meals at the cabin. We didn't need to bring anything other than our food as the cabin is well-stocked with all the kitchen essentials plus more. When in the area, I plan on staying at this cabin, again. If you are in the area for a sporting event or just to enjoy Gatlinburg and all it has to offer, this cabin is at the perfect location. One mile from the sports complex is a plus, but also being close to downtown while being away from the traffic and noise made this the perfect location. The owner answered all my questions and was very easy to work with during the entire process. One last thing, the king bed on the main floor was very comfortable. There were plenty of extra pillows, blankets, and towels for everyone and we enjoyed very restful sleep while there. Can't wait to return one day soon.
We loved the place had everything we needed
Thank you Tomas. We pride ourselves in making our cabin a 'home away from home' with everything you could need for an amazing vacation. I am glad you all had so much fun!
Wonderful family cabin
We loved the cabin. The proximity to town and the arts district was perfect. Our Grandchildren loved the games and movies that were provided. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals.
Thank you Lulu for taking the time to post a review. The cabin has something for everyone no matter age or ability. Catch up over a morning coffee on the decks, grill a delicious meal, have a movie night or a games night. Fun for all ages.
Well organized rental. WiFi would not connect. It is a beautiful location and convenient to Gatlinburg. Thanks
Thank you Glen for your review. Our guests love being so close to all the fun activities Gatlinburg and the surrounding area has to offer. Unfortunately, the cable company, Spectrum, had an internet issue during your visit. This is rare and our guests usually enjoy excellent WiFi during their stay.
Cabin was comfortable and we'll equipped with amenities. My family enjoyed the time together.
The games area in the loft clashed with the parlor area below and made conversation and television and movie viewing difficult. The living and dining area was cramped for the twelve of us,yet comfortable when we made adjustments. View of the mountains was less than hoped for, but with the cold weather,we didn't venture out much. The overall experience was good since my children and grandchildren were together... again. That's the really important part. Thank you for opening your cabin to us.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. I am glad you had fun spending time with your family but disappointed it was less than you hoped for. As with a lot of cabins in the Smokies, the loft area has the pool table, air hockey table and gaming machine. If play is noisy and quiet t.v. watching is wanted, the cabin does have 7 flat screen t.v's to choose from. Overall the cabin has just over 2850 sq feet not including the two full length balconies at the back.
Brigadoon is located in Mountain Shadows Resort, approximately 11 miles from Pigeon Forge and 3 miles from Gatlinburg. There is so much to do in Gatlinburg and the surrounding area. Too many beautiful hiking trails in the Smoky Mountain national park itself to mention but see this great website for previews and advice. We particularly find those with waterfalls are always worth the walk to get there. We enjoy the outlet shopping at the Tanger Outlets in Sevierville and skiing and ice skating at Obergatlinburg during the winter. Close to our cabin we particularly enjoy visiting the Great Smoky Mountain Arts and Crafts community where you find local artists practicing their crafts as well as the opportunity to shop for unique items you do not get at home. In Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge there are many restaurants and attractions. Just over the mountain is Cherokee, and the Cherokee ran casino T with more shopping and attractions. So much to do for all tastes and ages.
