About Debbie Rainford - Owner/property manager

My husband and I both grew up in England and moved to the United States (the Cincinnati area) over 20 years ago. We have always enjoyed vacationing in the Smoky Mountains and have been repeat visitors with our family for many years. We have stayed at many cabin locations throughout the region and were delighted when we were able to purchase this cabin which is located in our favorite location of all - above the Arts and Craft Community of Gatlinburg and close to all the other fun activities the area has to offer.

Debbie Rainford - Owner/property manager purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Debbie Rainford - Owner/property manager chose East

We have a lot of experience as vacation guests of many other cabins and, as such, have provided what we consider to be the best of all worlds into our own cabin to ensure a memorable experience for our visitors. We feel a combination of rustic charm, combined with all the modern amenities of today (such as HDTV's, WiFi and Internet, Video games, Pool Table, Large Spa, Gas grill and well equipped kitchen) as well as a location that is quiet and peaceful, but very accessible to local shops and attractions is the way to go. New heating and air systems with expanded airflow ensures a comfortable environment throughout the cabin in all seasons. Newly stained and sealed for a beautiful exterior (it gleams in the sunlight) as well as free from drafts and air leaks. The location of my cabin was also critical. In the Mountain Shadows Resort you have facilities such as a community pool, pavilion and outdoor playground. The cabin is nestled among trees and wildlife but not totally alone. The cabin is on a quiet road with other cabins where we all enjoy a superb seasonal view of the Smoky Mountains. The sunrises over the mountains should not be missed from the rocking chairs on the upper deck or the spa on the lower deck. Access to local shops are a short drive away and of course the Smoky Mountain National Park, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge or all within easy reach.

What makes this cabin unique

Our whole family fell in love with the cabin when we first saw it without furnishings and realized its potential. The cabin is very spacious, well laid out and the views from the decks beautiful. We set about equipping it with all of the furniture and equipment that would exceed the expectations of all ages and interests of our guests. We love to sit in the log rocking chairs in the mornings, drinking our tea, as we plan our day together. At night, my family and I really enjoy the hot tub while looking at the stars. For those interested in playing pool you can have a friendly game on the upper loft area while still keeping up with the latest sports or news on TV. In the evenings, we also enjoy relaxing in the main room while watching a good movie together on the 55' HDTV. When you retire to the privacy of your own room, it is a great feeling to be in a log bed, with top of the line pillow top mattresses and watching some late night TV. If you have kids, there is plenty for them in the bunk room. The log beds are fun to climb and the PS2 games always a hit.

Brigadoon is located in Mountain Shadows Resort, approximately 11 miles from Pigeon Forge and 3 miles from Gatlinburg. There is so much to do in Gatlinburg and the surrounding area. Too many beautiful hiking trails in the Smoky Mountain national park itself to mention but see this great website for previews and advice. We particularly find those with waterfalls are always worth the walk to get there. We enjoy the outlet shopping at the Tanger Outlets in Sevierville and skiing and ice skating at Obergatlinburg during the winter. Close to our cabin we particularly enjoy visiting the Great Smoky Mountain Arts and Crafts community where you find local artists practicing their crafts as well as the opportunity to shop for unique items you do not get at home. In Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge there are many restaurants and attractions. Just over the mountain is Cherokee, and the Cherokee ran casino T with more shopping and attractions. So much to do for all tastes and ages.

A very nice property

  • 5 of 5

My family and I were there 2 weeks ago and the property was great. We had a good time, the place was very clean with very detailed instructions on how to operate everything. Everyone loved the location actually woke up one morning with a black bear walking down the road. Would visit again.

Couldn't be more impressed....

  • 5 of 5

We don't leave till tomorrow, but I wanted to be sure I got our review in!

We met for our family Christmas here, as we do every January, and we couldn't be more impressed!

The first thing I need to stress is communication. When you aren't local, it can make it really difficult, but they made it SO easy. The pre-arrival information was extremely in depth, and filled with all the questions I would normally have but forget to ask. Post arrival, however, was spectacular. There was a little weather during our stay, and before we even knew there was going to be weather, I had text messages alerting me to what was coming, when to expect snow removal, etc. We got constant updates as the weather forecast changed!

Everything in the cabin is well labeled with instructions, so you always know how to use something. It was spotless on arrival, and had all the basics we needed to have right on arrival (toilet paper, paper towels, spices, dishsoap, laundry soap). I love to cook, and often find cabins are not well enough stocked for lots of cooking. Not so here. I was able to find anything I needed, which is a huge boon for me when cooking for 11 for 6 days.

We don't go out and about much, we tend to hang at the cabin as a family, but I would recommend Crockett's Breakfast Camp for at least one breakfast!

Highly recommend!
