Slip back in time and relax amongst the rustic setting and the 200 year old live oak trees. Isolate yourself from the world and escape. Listen to the rushing waters of the creek or chirping crickets while partaking in the gorgeous wine barrel hot tub. Read a book while the smell of redwood plank walls surround you. Sit on the deck with some wine and cheese and listen to the birds and breathe the fresh air scented with nature. Curl up in the quiet sitting room with a novel or sprawl out on the inviting king size bed in the cozy and quiet solitude of the master bedroom.
Don't let its rustic charm let you think that you are in a shack and totally off the grid. The 2,000 Sq Ft. Treehouse includes satellite TV with premium channels, high speed internet (wired and Wi-Fi), large modern gourmet kitchen with a Wolf gas range and upgraded appliances, a wine barrel hot tub and a full luxury bathroom with large walk-in shower.
If you want to stay close, the town of Sunol has Bosco's Bones and Brew, a restaurant and saloon featuring 'Bosco', the famous dog mayor of Sunol, plumbed, mounted on the bar and serving Bosco's Brew in only the way a dog can. On the way, stop at Elliston Vineyards and sample some of their award winning wines. On most weekends, catch a steam or diesel locomotive from the Sunol train depot into the historic town of Niles to explore the silent film era. Hiking and bike trails are minutes away in the Sunol and Pleasanton Ridge Regional Wildernesses.
You will most certainly see deer and turkey on the 2.9 mile drive to the Treehouse. The road literally forces you to relax and unwind as you drive under the canopy of fitting for when you walk in the front door at the end of the day.
We were both born in the San Francisco Bay Area - less than 20 miles from the Treehouse. We have always appreciated the diversity, culture and variety the San Francisco Bay Area offers. Although there is a multitude of activities and things to do in the metro area, the cabin provides us an escape from the normal 'rat race'.
Richard and Janet purchased this cabin in 2009
Sunol is a unique town. Steeped in history, the town was once a stop on the famed Transcontinental Railroad. Although the tracks have been decommissioned from regular freight and passenger use, the station and tracks are used for weekend public train rides between Sunol and the old historic town of Niles, the silent film capital of the world. The town of Sunol became famous in the early 80's by electing a dog as 'mayor' - not once, but TWICE.
Feel like you are camping in the woods, yet living in luxury. Isolated enough that you can feel one with nature. Close enough to be in Silicon Valley or San Jose airport in 30 minutes or less. Stoneridge Shopping Center is 15 minutes away. San Francisco Outlet Mall is 20 minutes away. 2 golf courses within 10 minutes. Hiking is literally in your back yard. Two (Fremont or Pleasanton/Dublin) Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations are 20 minutes away and can get you to downtown San Francisco in 45 minutes.
We just spent our Thanksgiving holiday with family at the Treehouse in Sunol. The home was perfect for us. Large enough to handle a huge Thanksgiving dinner crowd and pet friendly!! A jewel hidden in the middle of the Bay Area. The home had all the technical touches we needed but felt like an old cabin home at the same time. Can't tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. Thank you Richard for allowing us to enjoy your home.

My husband and I rented the Treehouse for almost a week which culminated in the wedding of our son at a nearby vineyard. The Treehouse was the perfect home to rent for our family who joined us. The Treehouse is impossible to describe. Imagine a very historic cabin which has been outfitted with the most modern and upgraded amenities. We enjoyed our fire in the fireplace every morning and evening and the Wi-fi and office set up allowed for great communication and workspace. Beds super comfortable. Richard met us there and was a real help in understanding the neighborhood and all the amenities. Would go back again in a heartbeat.
We had a girls weekend at the Treehouse to celebrate a birthday. Everything was lovely and we loved being in this rustic place. Richard was extremely helpful. Kitchen was great and hot tub was my favorite :) would definitely come back again.
We stayed in the Sunol Treehouse for a week in preparation for a friend's wedding in Livermore. We had our pups with us at the cabin. The entire stay was incredible! Richard and Janet were wonderful to work with and the treehouse couldn't have been more perfect. We hope to have the opportunity to visit the area again. Thanks for everything!
Take advantage of what this place has to offer. Relax in the woods, soak in the wine barrel hot tub, cook like Food Network on the Wolf range, and reconnect with guests and friends. Master shower was WOW! Master bed with memory foam was Ahhh! One heck of a stocked kitchen was Oh Yeah! The Treehouse was Shamma- Lama-...you know the rest!
Beautiful, spacious, clean, comfortable, well stocked home.
Very reasonably priced, allowing larger families to afford to vacation.
Amazingly accommodating owners who are truly invested in satisfying guests. (Thank you so much!)
Quiet, peaceful location within an hours' drive of San Francisco.
Home and location are exactly as owners picture and describe.
Appropriate for all ages (but remember that there are many steps and stairs).
My family and I had a great time. Our teenage & young adult "kids" absolutely enjoyed the Treehouse! At night, they enjoyed having a choice of big screen tvs and hot tub. I found it relaxing and rejuvenating to get up in the morning and soak in the hot tub with a cup of ice coffee. It was a perfect way to combat the arthritis in my feet and knees after spending the entire previous day walking. Surprisingly, my pain level was very manageable, allowing me to continue adventuring. I hope to return to the Treehouse within the year. I would love to have my parents join me next time because I know they would appreciate the history of the home and surrounding area.
The property is located in Livermore Valley Wine Country. Over 50 wineries are part of the region, including Elliston Winery down the road from the cabin. The original transcontinental railroad passed through Sunol and steam or diesel locomotive train rides are available most weekends.
