About Mark or Jeanne Reyher
Mark and Jeanne Reyher grew up at opposite ends of the country. Mark in the Texas Panhandle, Jeanne in British Columbia. They now reside in Belgrade Montana with their 2 college age children where they do bovine embryo transfer.
Mark or Jeanne Reyher purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Mark or Jeanne Reyher chose Port Lavaca
When the children were growing up, we traveled to Port Arkansas in the Winter to enjoy the beaches and fishing. Recently on a return trip, we found the forgotten Indianola. Its devastating story, awesome fishing, beautiful bay, birds, and seclusion 'set the hook' for us. In 2012 we bought the Blue Crab Cottage for a warm place to play in the Winter
What makes this Cottage unique
Being avid outdoor enthusiasts, the fishing and kayaking drew us to Indianola. When we saw the Blue Crab's own little dock on the bayou, the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets from the decks, and the 9 palm trees, we could not resist this little slice of Texas.

Everything was great! Looking forward to going back in the fall.
It's small but bigger than a motel suite. Location more than makes up for any problems which were none on our visit. Making plans for our next visit this fall.
Anniversary Kayak Adventure
The Blue Crab is a delightful cottage for any time you can get away to play. Wonderfully equipped for relaxing, fishing, cooking & hanging out on the front deck or under the breezeway. The marsh in back is great to paddle our kayak around fishing & catching some redfish, sneaking up on lots of birds & gliding around the lake. We will return when we get some more time to play!
FATHER DAY TRIP
Great place and great time in Indianola Texas. We can't wait to go back...
This was our third time to stay here and it will not be our last. Once again my wife and I had a great time. We caught fish right off of the dock in the rear of the house ( a few small reds and trout, and three slot size reds). Took the kayak out every morning and caught plenty of fish in the marsh ( small and slot reds). As usual all things needed (besides food) is there. Nice quiet place with little hustle of the tourist areas. If you just want to get away, this is a great place to be ( fisher person or not). Will be back again.
Can't wait to come back!
The Blue Crab is truly something special. Between watching the sun rise over the bay, catching red fish on the fly from a kayak, or eating fresh caught crab for lunch, it's tough to pick my favorite part. Getting to stay in a wonderful little cottage in an area with so much to do and such a fascinating history is a truly unique experience that will have you coming back for more!
Fishing, Birds, Beaches, Solitude.
Historic Indianola Texas has a multitude of activities for your family. Along with world class fishing, Indianola is one of the premier bird watching destinations on the Gulf Coast. The Blue Crab Cottage overlooks Matagorda Bay from its front deck, Powder Horn Lake Bayou from the back deck. Marvel at the dolphins rising on bay side and the multitude of coastal birds nesting and feeding in the bayou. Gather oysters and blue crabs, fish the bay, the bayou, and the marina for speckled trout, red fish, drum, flounder, sheep head, the list is as endless as the sunrises and sunsets from the Blue Crab Cottage Bedroom. Our family loves kayaking the bayou and the scenic 5 mile paddle down Matagorda island past Port O'Connor to the open Gulf.
We invite you to stay at our Blue Crab Cottage in Indianola for the memory of a lifetime.
