The apartment is exactly as described - and wonderful. What was important to me: It's well stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. It's in a quiet building literally within a block of everything you could possibly need to reach on foot. It has no tv (which I prefer), but has very strong reliable wifi to stream if books don't hold your attention. As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe walking about to and from this place, even in the dark. It's in quite a lovely spot.
It's small - good for a couple. But even still, you get a lot packed into that: a comfy bed, a sitting area, a dining area, a full kitchen, a bathroom with a good sized shower, and in August on muggy nights, there was air conditioning. And it was CLEAN. Very.
You can't beat the value for such an elegant place. If you're looking in this area, pull the trigger and rent. You won't be disappointed.
A sweet little studio apartment in a charming town
We could not have been happier with this little "gem" overlooking the harbor town of Belfast. It was well-equipped with everything we needed for our one-week stay, and our landlady, Lucy Pincince, could not have been more helpful or accomodating. The next time we're visiting family in Belfast, we'll definitely be booking it with an eye to the availability of this lovely and comfortable studio! Thanks, Lucy and John!
My husband and I stayed here as part of a trip around New England. The space was perfect! Great location, clean and stocked with everything we needed. Couldn't have been better!
Excellent super clean! Perfect location!
Best vacation ever! Love Belfast!
Lovely and comfortable studio apartment in a quaint and relaxing riverside town
My husband and I visited the Downtown Gem in Belfast, Maine for a long weekend. We arrived on a Friday and stayed through Monday. We've never been this far north in Maine and wanted to explore more of the state. We arrived in the studio apartment to find a well appointed space with comfortable bed, air-con, window fan, seating area, full bath with shower, and full equipped kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator, coffee maker and tea kettle. We were literally a minute walk from downtown Belfast. The town itself has great restaurants and shops, is totally walkable, and with friendly local residents. We even drove a few minutes to the other side of the river to enjoy delicious lobster at Young's Lobster Pound on the river. We inadvertently timed our visit to arrive during Harbor Fest which was a lot of fun. There was live music, a skiff building competition, boat races, food vendors and arts & crafts vendors. We also spent one day hiking in Acadia National Park which is a 1 hr. and 15 min. drive. Overall, we had a perfect stay. We highly recommend this lovely place to anyone interested in visiting Belfast, ME and the surrounding area. We'd definitely come back most likely in the fall to take in the change of seasons. Thanks to Lucy and John for making our stay so enjoyable!
Great apartment - as advertised
The apartment is very nice - private, clean, comfortable and well maintained. The owners are very responsive and do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. They even have made arrangements for off street parking. It's just a short walk to everything in town. The walk along the waterfront is especially nice and there are restaurants to satisfy everyone.
There's so much to see and do in Belfast: Visit the many charming shops and galleries; Stroll along the waterfront or hike on nearby trails; Reward yourself with delicious food and drink from the many restaurants or pubs; Take a boat tour; Attend one or more of Belfast's festivals, concerts or plays held regularly downtown; Join a Friday night Artwalk or Thursday night street dance; Purchase fresh, local produce and other goodies at one of the many Farmer's markets in or near town; Join in July's Celtic Festival or October's Pie and Story Festival. Belfast offers destinations and experiences for people of all ages and interests. According to Downeast Magazine, December 2012, Belfast is the 'Coolest Little City in Maine.'
