Because Hilton Head is a great place to visit, with lots of things to do but not built up. You can enjoy nature, dining, outdoor activities and sports, and even catch a live show. This property is convenient to everything and provides easy access to places to stroll, shop, dine and hang out. Also, access to the nicest and quietest beach on the island!
Apartment was very clean and comfortable. Nice view of the harbour -- able to watch the boats coming and going. Penty of restaurants around for dining and lots of walking/biking paths. A very relaxing stay!
This condo was great! We loved the key-code entry system for the parking lot, and condo. The condo was clean, and fully equipped. It was spacious and perfect for a getaway. The wrap-around porch, and the views it provided were great. Everything worked, and we had no reason to contact the owner or manager during our stay. We stayed busy with the shops and restaurants below, and they even offer charter boat dolphin tours. We appreciated the "kidsfest" they offer on Tuesdays with fireworks. The Palmetto Dunes buggy was available to us, since this considered part of Palmetto Dunes. The beach was a short drive (or dune buggy ride) across the street and easily accessible. We will certainly be back!
The condo is lovely and in a great location! We enjoyed walking our small dog around the harbor area and the people we encountered on these walks were very friendly. The wraparound balcony was very pleasant and the kitchen had all the necessary equipment. The spiral staircase could be an issue for older people and we had a little trouble getting our suitcases upstairs. There were a few minor maintenance problems, broken towel rack in bathroom, shade in bedroom raising and lowering, several light bulbs burned out, and we were given the wrong code for the gate in parking lot. But we would come back again and we enjoyed the Palmetto Dunes area.
My husband and I have to agree with Andrews review. We also really liked the place but noticed the need for maintenance. We actually thought that maybe the owner is not aware of some of the issues mentioned in the former review. But it is certainly correct. We noticed a lot of the same things. (However, our Coffee maker worked and no Towel handle fell down). It would be a shame to neglect this otherwise nice and tasteful place.
We love the location. The harbor and the surroundings are beautiful. Perfect for boat lovers like us. Even during off season you will not get bored. Lots of nice restaurants are in walking distance.
I feel bad to give it only average rating. It is solely based on the maintenance issues.
Nice location with a very nice view. Easy access to the beach a quick drive or bike ride away. The patio is a great place to sit and relax, watch the boats, kayakers and paddleboarders. Condo is a bit more spacious than I expected. There were however a few disappointments Which is more to do with the maintenance and cleaners.
We arrived to the condo at Harbourside 1 and noticed the front gate to the gated parking was wide open, and it stayed that way all week. For a few days before we were leaving a repair crew was trying to fix it.
The windows need a cleaning, spiders webs with flies, and paint spatter from the last time they were painted.
One patio door wouldn't open and the other has a bolt/nut on the handle that is a bit wonky.
The coffee pot was broken which we found out when coffee started running over the counter top.
The bathtub/jacuzzi was dirty and had hair in it, with putty used to fill the holes where they appeared to have a leak In the ceiling. The wall mounted dial for the jacuzzi is hanging off.
The towel rack fell off the wall when I put my towel on it, and the plunger in the sink is broken.
Between the back and the seat cushion of the dining room chair where my 7 year old son sat, we found an Aleve pill.
As I said, these are maintenance and cleaning issues and is not meant to take away from the condo itself. We cooked here and ate most of our meals here and it was a great home base for going for walks on the boardwalks, watching the fishing tours come in with their catch, and going on our own dolphin tour. The rest of the island is all relatively close by with the bridge to the mainland being approx 15minutes and the southern tip approx 20min.
This was our first trip to Hilton Head Island, a beautiful place to visit.
We just stayed here and we loved it! The location is so beautiful and is right on the Marina. We went bike riding everyday and there are restaurants everywhere and live music that is just below and across from the condo. The restaurant below closes early and we never heard anything. We would sit out on the huge deck and would listen to the music with a glass of wine. We will be back!!
This unit has an excellent view. It nicely furnished in a contemporary style. The spiral staircase to bedroom with walk-in closet is great and the large full bath with separate shower and jacuzzi tub wonderful as well. The deck is plenty spacious and I think at one of the most excellent poised directions on the Harbourside accommodations. It is so refreshing to have the sunshine through truly the entire unit and it is well appointed with items needed too. It is notable that the owner of this unit was very responsive and generously considerate when some problems occurred with entry and follow through before and upon arrival by the rental agency Island Getaway representing the owner. I found this entity the rental agent and reps a little less than excellent, fair to average I would say in their mannerisms and handling of the problems on my entry day however the owner was more attentive and willing to be involved in resolving concerns immediately once informed by me the following morning. I would really enjoy this location again and it very secure and the proximity to the activities of Shelter Cove very nice as well as to other parts of the island.
Shelter Cove marina is part of the Palmetto Dunes resort. Hilton Head Island's largest deep-water yacht basin: a 15.5-acre marina with 170 boat slips for boats up to 135 feet in length. Located across the street from the main resort, the marina offers year-round dining, shopping, boating and events.
Hilton Head Island is a jewel of the low country, offering something for everyone. It is 45 minutes north of Savannah, Georgia and 90 minutes south of Charleston. There are 12 miles of pristine beaches on the Atlantic ocean, 20 Championship golf courses, and more than 250 restaurants.
Some things islanders enjoy include long walks and bike rides on the beach, dolphin cruises, boating, golf, tennis, shows at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Harbourfest at Shelter Cove marina including fireworks on Tuesday nights int he summer, festivals, mini golf, dining and nightlife.
