It was great!

  • 5 of 5

We would fully recommend this houseboat to anyone looking for accommodation in Bermuda. Dockyard is a very picturesque setting and the convenient bus and ferry options means that the whole of the island is at your fingertips. The main bedroom was very comfortable, the bathroom was as best as could be expected on board a boat, and the lounge/kitchen area had all the amenities that one would need. Bernie was a very welcoming host and provided helpful tips before and during our stay on how to make the most of our vacation.

Loved the houseboat

  • 4 of 5

Houseboat was such fun. Had some problems with the electricity so lights did not work in bathroom, the microwave stopped working and then the refrigerator went out as well. We did love the location and sitting outside being able to see all the boats and be on the water. We did have some miscommunication with Bernie as to what to do and where to go when we arrived off the ferry. Bernie and Clive were very nice.

Owner's Response: Thank you Ann it was great to have you . Indeed the hairdryer did trip the fuse for the lights in the bathroom. Luckily it was a simple remedy to turn fuse switch back on. Unfortunately I did not communicate the directions clearly it was just a guideline to be confirmed which I should have followed up with specifics. But all turned out well after a phone call . We look forward to seeing you both again now that you know the way.

What a gem!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a wonderful relaxing week on this houseboat. The boat has a fully equipped kitchen and the most huge and comfortable bed I've ever slept in. But the bonus is the back and upper deck where you can relax and watch the world go by, whilst watching the looks of envy from the cruise ship passengers who were only in port for 24 hours!

The location is brilliant, just a very short stroll to the ferries, shops, pubs and restaurants but far enough away to be peaceful. Found the people in the marina extremely friendly and had some very interesting talks with the locals whilst out for our evening stroll to the pub.

Thank you Berni and Clive for the loan of your boat, would I recommend it to friends? Already done so, will we be back? Yes, sooner rather then later hopefully.

Second Honeymoon

  • 5 of 5

The Houseboat in Sandy's Parish was just perfect. We came to Bermuda for our honeymoon on a cruise ship. This time we stayed on a boat 'Perfect for Two' and it was wonderful. We had every amenity we needed, from a full stove/oven, fridge/freezer, pots/pans, to linens and all the basic needs. Jimmy took care of us and we really appreciated the time he took with us, showing us how to turn on the air conditioning and lights, etc.

We loved the Dockyard setting and this time of year is super quiet (no cruise ships yet). It was just what we needed to unwind and relax.

Thanks Jimmy! We'll be back!

No better place to stay in Bermuda

  • 5 of 5

We own sailboats and enjoy staying on them. We've enjoyed rented cruisers in Ireland, England and Wales. But, this houseboat, in this location is the best on-the water experience we ever had. Everything in the rental description is better than true. Clean, comfortable, well equipped and an owner who cares. Besides the Dockyard with its shops, restaurants and entertainment, the location of bus/ferry access meant that during our 5 days there we saw St. Georges, Hamilton (2x), Horseshoe Bay Beach, Somerset Village restaurants and bars and all the way out to Pink Beach. The marina is full of friendly people and the dock shop has essentials at reasonable prices along with free wi-fi. Freeport Seafood Restaurant had great curries and drink specials that can't be beat. We probably saw more fish from the decks than you see in a glass bottom boat. We'll be back. Soon.

The Houseboat was wonderful! We would go back!

  • 5 of 5

What you see in the pictures of the houseboat is exactly what it was. It was very clean and well-maintained. The owner was extremely nice and helpful. It was right on the bus route and next to the ferry landings for access to all of Bermuda. Horseshoe Bay Beach was the most beautiful beach that we have ever been to. As stated, activities and restaurants nearby. We highly recommend that you rent the Houseboat and enjoy!

Ferries can readily be caught at Dockyard into the city of Hamilton harbour, and over to St.Georges. There is also bus service from Dockyard, which heads through Somerset and to the central parts of the island.

Nearby to this accommodation in Dockyard are a wide variety of conveniences and entertainments: moped rentals, five restaurants, a mini-mart, a mall, a visitor centre, and a pharmacy: all within a 2 minute walk. The nearest large grocery store is about a 10 minute bus ride, or 5 minute moped ride from Dockyard. There are also the attractions of Dockyard nearby: glass blowing centre, rum cake factory, museum, Dolphin Quest, art gallery, craft market, and a tour ticket booth. During the Summer months, there is a street fair held in Dockyard each Monday night, where there is live music, gombey dancing and street vendors.

Since the boat is in the marina at Dockyard, it is best to swim at the snorkel park in Dockyard, which is a 2 minute walk away. Heading further east from Somerset, Whale Bay and the stunning Church Bay offer wonderful South Shore snorkeling opportunities as well as pink, shell strewn beaches to explore. (Snorkeling equipment can be rented at Church Bay and several of the larger beaches such as Horseshoe.) A mile and a half along the coast is Horseshoe Bay, and the trio of simply exquisite coves known as Chaplin Bay, Stonehole Bay and Jobson’s Cove secreted between Horseshoe and Warwick Long Bay. All these lovely beaches are within 25 minutes moped ride of the house boat in Somerset.

At Dockyard there is a wide selection of water sport activity companies, which offer jet ski tours, parasailing, glass bottom, boat rentals, snorkeling, fish charters, and much more!

Fine dining nearby would have to include Cambridge Beaches in Somerset and the renowned dining-rooms at The Reefs in Southampton. The Princess Hotel in Southampton and the Waterlot Inn also provides a fine dining experiences along with an excellent golf course.

Port Royal Golf Course and Riddell’s Bay Golf Course would also make you most welcome.
