Nicely Sweet Casita

  • 5 of 5

This is a darling little sweet spot. A steam babbles under the shade of trees that surround the casita. There is a hot tub and outdoor grill with a little table under the elderberry tree and a hawks nest in the tree next to it. Washer and dryer and all the kitchen amenities. Murphy bed folds about of the way when not in use. The caretaker was very helpful and responded immediately to any of our questions. Paulette, the owner was sweet as could be. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful, Affordable Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

Casa Bella Casita is wonderful. The furnishings are nice and comfortable. The space is reasonably large for only being a studio. Could easily fit a family of 4 without feeling too crowded. The location is very central to all there is to do and see in the area. Very peaceful, private, and friendly location. The hot tub is a bonus and was very clean. Kitchen is well equipped, and has a washer and dryer!!!! All in all, Casa Bella Casita offers everything other rentals have at a much more affordable price. Definitely will stay again!

So close to really good.

  • 2 of 5

Property was not clean. BBQ grill was really dirty. We stayed here before and really loved lt but the casita seems to have been neglected. The electricity went out. There were bugs. No Internet access. Water pressure at night was so low that showering was impossible. We asked the property manager to help us wi th the DVD and he said that he would but never did return. This was very disappointing because we love the location of this little place. It is quiet and cozy. But this last time was really a turn off. Maybe the owners/managers can do a bit more to bring it up to a moderate standard of accommodation. We are not that picky but this was a bit hard to handle even for us!

Owner's Response: We are baffled by this review. Our guests were in residence from 7/23 - 7/29. They called 7/26 to report that the electricity was out. We immediately went up to check and discovered a large number of electrical appliances were being operated simultaneously causing the breaker to turn off. They acknowledged their error which was not an issue for us. The problem was remedied with good nature and a pleasant exchange of greetings and visiting. When asked how everything else was, they mentioned a cable for the DVD player was missing and that all else was lovely. There was no mention of bugs, dirty grill, internet problems, water pressure. They went on to rave about Casita Bella being perfect for them and that this was their second visit and they hoped to come back for a month this autumn. We left saying we would return with a replacement DVD cable that a prior guest probably took by mistake. On the way into town we received word that a family member's house had been lost in the Colorado Springs fire. With that news we regretfully lost sight of delivering a new cable and prepared and left for Colorado in support of the family crisis. We sincerely apologize for this oversight. Upon returning to Taos, guests had departed and caretaker reported the bed had been broken and that she had fixed it. It was of no consequence and we would not have considered charging a repair fee. In lieu of this mystery, we invite you to Google Taos Casita Bella to read unsolicited reviews from previous guests. Sincerely, Paulette Jacobs, Owner

Too warm during the day & the hot tub has a mildew smell.

  • 2 of 5

It was much too warm during the day for no air conditioning. We asked for a fan on the 2nd day & were told we would get one, but it never arrived. Fortunately it rained & cooled off that evening. The hot tub had a distinct odor. Not sure what it was so we only went in it briefly once & did not return because of the smell. Could probably use a change of water & a good cleaning. Don't want to seem like we are complainers, because we are not, but it could have been cleaner all around. We stayed at a very nice place this past winter in taos & it was only a few dollars more. We were expecting the same. This was a last minute trip for us, so we did not have much to choose from. This was just a little below our standards and we would not recommend it to friends or family.

Owner's Response: High summer temperatures in Taos have a duration of approximately 5 to 7 days a year. Several fans are kept in the attached garage for guest use. Instructions for controlling summer comfort levels are posted in our properties and they are to close blinds and curtains on sunny windows and open blinds and windows on shaded windows. This works like magic in our arid environment. Add a fan and it is every bit as cool as air conditioning. Our Texas travelers are always in awe of these results. As for mention of the hot tub smell, unless we get a call from a guest having a problem, we are unable to check and correct things. We invite you to Google Taos Casita Bella to read unsolicited reviews from other past guests. Sincerely, Paulette Steensen Jacobs
