3 BDRM, 2 BATH, Lake at the front door
We are a family of 4 that have enjoyed the cottage life in all its glorious seasons. Our kids are always asking about when the next time we can go. They love that the neighbours are extremely friendly and they can go 'frogging' at the local pond and right at the waterfront as well. Look for the otter that lives under our dock and if you're quiet, you can see him scamper along the shoreline at dusk. At varying times, you can see the Osprey, The Great Blue Heron, Beavers, Buffleheads, etc.
Why Heather chose Fenelon Falls
NOTE: VRBO IS QUOTING U.S.D. ON THEIR SITE; WE QUOTE IN CDN $ ONLY, WAIT FOR A QUOTE FROM US BEFORE BOOKING TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT! From the moment you step into the cottage, you will find it extremely comfortable, just like being at home only with a spectacular view of 'Lake TV'. The layout has such a good flow you'll easily find relaxing from your everyday stresses. We love to be able to watch the sunset from inside and out from the deck, you never miss is because there are so many windows.

Peaceful and Relaxing
Very clean, beautiful scenery, close to all amenities. A truly enjoyable stay for us, the only negative was having to pay in U.S. funds even though the property owners are Canadian.
Heather, thankyou so much.

We are very glad you enjoyed your stay. Try logging into the Canadian version of VRBO or changing your settings to Canadian Funds when you are searching. When you first got to the VRBO page, you have the option in the top right corner of selecting Cdn or US $$. Make the change there before starting your search. Hope that helps!
Very clean . Neighbors to close
Loved the a/c
Tub plug not working
Cant moor boat on dock
Tub plug works, you just need to turn the dial for it to close. Sorry about the boat, but as I explained we stopped allowing boats sometime ago due to damage. I offered to refund and cancel the booking, but you said it was fine. Somewhere between your rental and the next, someone left the boat moored and the dock is separated and the bumper broken.
Needs to be clean at the shore so little kids can swim.
Could use new leather furniture, as less odor is better.
Thanks. We had a smoker before your stay that smoked and the smell resonated throughout the cottage, which we were not happy about either. These are things I can't fix between stays and in some cases, never. Previous attempts with a leather sofa set left us with a sofa with rips/cuts and scratches.
Heather’s cottage is amazing. The pictures don’t do it justice. The inside is spotless, open concept and very roomy with a fully equipped kitchen with anything you might need all neatly labeled so you’re never scrambling for a utensil or pan. There are also 2 full bookshelves with all kinds of novels and kids’ books and a 3rd one with DVDs, video games and interesting board games (some of which I’ve never seen before!) for the whole family to enjoy. The backyard is breathtaking with a large deck that easily sits 10-12, a quiet cozy fire pit and the clean blue water is just steps away with amazing views, including the sunset every night. Relaxing on the edge of that long dock makes all your troubles disappear. Neighbours are fairly close but very friendly and there is a hedge on either side providing good privacy. Very quiet neighbourhood just 10 mins away from Tim Hortons, LCBO, Sobeys... there is nothing more you could ask for. We only stayed for 2 nights and none of us wanted to leave. I can’t wait to go back. Thank you Heather for making our weekend and giving us amazing memories!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. You perfectly described how it feels everytime we are there. See you next time!
We enjoyed staying here for 3 nights. The property is quite close to neighbors but the lake is beautiful and peaceful.
We didn't feel 100% welcome and comfortable because it felt like there were lots of rules to keep track of (only use the heat under "extreme weather conditions", replace spices that are finished, fairly complicated recycling rules with a potential $50 fine), use cleaning products to clean the house before leaving, etc). I understand that guests should be respectful and it's their house, but it felt pretty different than staying at other rentals or hotels where there is more of a welcoming and hospitality vibe. This made us feel like we were overstaying our welcome at someone's house, and it's not a cheap place to stay.
Besides this awkwardness though, the property is beautiful, well-kept, and very clean. Thank you!
Thank you for your comments. Glad you enjoyed your stay. As with any cottage or house-type property rental, the City of Kawartha Lakes has recycling rules, which changed recently, which we didn't decide and don't enjoy either, nor do I enjoy picked through people recycling. As well, we don't have the cleaners check to see for finished spices at change over and many people appreciate the fact that a variety of spices are there and they don't have to bring them. Because its not a hotel and you have to cook and clean for yourself, the intention was that you won't have to remember every spice for every dish you make or go out and buy them. Not sure why the heat was required in June, but the propane stove is cleaned and shut down for the summer. This is a cottage rental on a septic system and not on municipal water, so again rules are different than that of a hotel because repairs are more costly than you can imagine.
