A River Runs By It! This lovely property is located directly on the upper river bank, offering gorgeous views and the gentle sounds of the Pine River. A pretty hiking trail climbs gently to an outlook for views of Vallecito Lake and the mountains. Boating, bike riding, hiking and barbequing from the deck are just a few of the wonderful activities that can be enjoyed from your private paradise in the pines. If you enjoy fishing, some of the best fly fishing in southern Colorado is just a 5-10 walk from your front door to your own private fishing spot on the Pine river. You are only minutes away from Vallecito Lake and the town of Durango has some of the best river rafting and mountain biking in Colorado. Durango is only a thirty minute drive along a beautiful, winding country road, where you are bound to see elk and deer on the rolling hillsides.

This newly built guest quarters was designed for your comfort, convenience, and for the best views! The upper deck is directly off the main floor for relaxing and grilling. With all this available from your quarters; views, flowing water, hiking and hills, you may never need to get in your car! But if you do, in addition to all that Vallecito Lake and Durango offers, your retreat borders the Weminuche Wilderness, the largest in the state of Colorado. Here, you can enjoy beautiful hikes in the forest.

If you want more… Pagosa Springs is a magnificent and scenic sixty mile drive where you can soak in sulfur hot springs.

Nice rental in a quiet area close to outdoor activities

We were 2 adults with a dog, The pictures are accurate, situated in woodland with morning deer visits. We wanted to explore the Durango area and spent a couple of days driving but spent most days of the stay hiking on the trails round the nearby Vellicito Rez or canoeing. We would definatly return if we are in the area.

A mountain haven

A beautiful property above the Los Pinos river. Clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Had a wonderful time. Host is fantastic!

Apartment in the woods

Nice above-garage apartment in a forest near a river and reservoir. If you're looking for peace and quiet in a remote area, this is the place. Host was very friendly and communicative when we had an issue with the hot water. The reservoir has a very "Northeastern US lake" vibe. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our weeklong stay here.

Property was great, but not recommended if you want the full experience of a vacation. Online Details and in person policy booklet is a bit off. Owners can be questionable. You can make that decision.

Peace and Quiet in the Woods

We had a wonderful two weeks at this lovely mountain/woodsy retreat. The apartment is spacious and so very homey. We love to cook, so the kitchen amenities were fantastic. The bed was comfortable, and that’s saying a lot since we normally sleep in a king. Going to sleep every night to the sound of the river and a cool fresh breeze was no less than amazing. The owner lives next door. She was very friendly, but not intrusive at all. If you are looking for a place away from the crowd, I would highly recommend it. Thanks for letting us stay!

Peaceful Mountain Getaway

If beautiful mountains, immaculate lodging and peaceful surroundings are what you are looking for, this is the place to stay. We enjoyed walks down by the river and relaxing on the balcony enjoying all the sights & sounds of nature and wildlife. The fully stocked kitchen & gas grill were perfect for preparing meals. The location is the perfect center point for several day trips in the area. We went to Telluride, Ouray, Silverton & Durango during our stay. The million dollar highway is a must see!! Chris & Marissa are great hosts who make sure you have everything you need for an enjoyable stay. We would definitely stay here again.

Charming retreat

Lake Vallecito

We were very happy with our stay at Vallecito. We had a new adventure every day, including Durango, Mesa Verde, fly fishing and hiking. The neighbors were so nice, and one even loaned me a great book to read. We loved our stay near Lake Vallecito on the river.

Wonderful Peaceful Retreat

Chris provided a warm and welcome space for a very peaceful retreat. The place was immaculate, had a great location, and Chris was ready to offer suggestions but also let me be in solitude as needed. I highly recommend this property if you want a peaceful retreat in beautiful surroundings!

Vallecito

Chris’ place is very nice. The kitchen was well fitted for cooking. The furniture is nice and comfortable, except for the bed. It could stand to be replaced, but it would not be a deal breaker if we were to go back. The area is gorgeous, especially in the fall. Vallecito Lake is close with lots of hiking, a small grocery/cafe. Not many restaurants around, but Durango is about a 30 minute beautiful drive. Lots of restaurants, groceries, shopping etc. We never found a very outstanding restaurant, but cooking in the apartment was easy and cozy. We were disappointed that the river wasn’t closer. However, the river was running low anyway. Overall, it is a very nice place and we would recommend it.

Peaceful & Welcoming

Lovely Cabin in the Woods

Our stay in Chris' cabin was amazing! It was so clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed for some nice home cooked meals. Chris was very responsive, and helped us out from everything from needing more laundry detergent to finding fun things to do nearby. If I could give more stars I would, it was awesome!

Relaxing stay in an adventurous area

Wonderful place in Vallecito

Tis was absolutely a great place to stay. We were there for six nights. The Zoll's have done an excellent job of preparing a place to visit. The apartment was well appointed and had everything we needed for the stay. If you are looking for a quiet laid back place this is it. The kitchen area is terrific. We loved the time there. We would go back here in a heartbeat. The Zoll's are taking every precaution, following good Covid-19 guidelines. Even the plates and dishes we used were completely sterilized after we left. We felt completely safe. About the river. It does run right below the cabin. You can hear it sitting out on the balcony. You cannot reach the river directly from the cabin. This is not a drawback however. There is a good road that leads right down to it. There is good parking at that spot. It can be walked, but I preferred to go in the car with my fishing gear. There are entry points to the river at that spot and downstream. This is a great rental for anyone wanting to stay in the Vallecito area. It is about a 30 minute drive into Durango. Set your GPS as you come in from Durango or Bayfield to find the entrance to the subdivision. It can be tricky finding it the first time. Choose this place for a wonderful quiet time in SW Colorado.

Perfect Getaway

I have to commend Chris and Marisa. Not only did they provide an incredible accommodation, but they are genuinely nice people. Conversation was easy and pleasant and they, obviously, care for their property and the comfort of their guests. The loft was perfect for my wife and I. Sitting on the deck, you can hear the river, smell the pines and enjoy the beauty that is all around. The kitchen had everything you needed (we cooked most of our meals), and the bed was comfortable. Either sitting on the hill looking down at the river, or making the short walk to the rivers edge is a must. We will be staying here again and again. So many thanks to Chris and Marisa.

Relaxing, clean, and a great location for exploring!

Chris and Marisa are great hosts and the property is perfectly located for exploring the area. We cooked all our meals in the apartment and the kitchen was open and fun to cook in. We paddle boarded, hiked, and biked in the area and in Durango. We will be back!

I chose this property on the river bank, and built my home and the guest quarters for best views, and it turned out to be better than I could have imagined!

This unique 3 acre property is at the end of a private road. It's such a wonderful spot that sometimes the best way to spend the day is on the deck, in the hammock with a good book, listening to the sounds of the river.

Plus, the owner offers guided mountain biking trips for those interested in exploring some of the best trails in Colorado!
