About Tricia or Michael Kapiloff

My fathers family developed this lakeside community. In the early 1950's my dad and his brother built the cabin for their parents, my grandparents Claude & Ruth Parker and then in the 1960's my parents purchased the property. My siblings and I grew up here during the summer months and so did all of our children, all 10 of them, along with many of our cousins and friends!

Many years my dad would host thanksgiving here for 40 relatives, always coming down a day early to start heating the place up (not winterized) and cooking the turkey. We all have fond memories of Beachwood and still get together for thanksgiving here occasionally.

This year my husband and I were able to purchase the property, now we will be able to continue all of our family traditions for our kids and our grandchildren, which will be the fifth generation of family members to vacation here and create memories.

Tricia or Michael Kapiloff purchased this cabin in 1950

Why Tricia or Michael Kapiloff chose Berkshires

A great family vacation spot, many out-door activities, a lot of arts and entertainment, as well as great restaurants. Situated on Stockbridge Bowl, between Stockbridge and Lenox

What makes this cabin unique

The house is on a wooded lot that runs right up to the lake and beach area. One of the best spots in Beachwood!

Rustic Retreat

Vacationing in this Beachwood log cabin proves rustic doesn't have to mean uncomfortable in any way! We found it to be perfectly conducive to unwinding and de stressing even if you have lots of family and friends with you. There's loads of space in this cabin (no "sardine syndrome" even on a rainy day) and loads of space outside its doors too with its own private access to Stockbridge Bowl swim area and sandcastle worthy beach. There are of course lots of great restaurants close by but if you plan on cooking some meals during your stay, you will find the spacious kitchen very easy to use with a large deck and charcoal grill just outside it's door. We enjoy our time here very much 😊.

Quiet get away, went in late April. Beautiful view of lake and the Berkshires. Cozy fireplace, cabin was clean and well maintained. Owner was helpful and made many recommendations for places to see and eat. Spent day at Kripalu, bike riding, kayaking and Norman Rockwell Museum were just a few of the activities we enjoyed. Very happy with the accommodations, close to many attractions or just relaxing at cabin. Highly recommend.

This is a lovely log cabin with lots of room and very kid friendly!! It is clean and cozy and comfortable for all ten of us. It is right by the beach and a mile from Tanglewood and other great places. It was a fun and enjoyable place to spend our vacation! Loved it!

Great Getaway

We rent this cabin every year and love it! The cabin is rustic but clean, a welcome throwback to an earlier time. The community is charming, the lake sparkles and there is so much to do in the Berkshires.

Owners are dishonest and unpleasant - nicer homes in the area for the price

  • 1 of 5

The house does not actually comfortably sleep 10 people unless you count couches in the middle of the dining room, which was very misleading. The owners also claimed that we failed to clean the house even though 10 of us swept and cleaned the entire place, so they kept our entire security deposit. I've rented numerous houses in the area and have never encountered a problem like this before.

Owner's Response: We have rented our family property for over 30 years and I have been the owner/landlord for approx. 10 years. We have had one family rent for one entire month every year for 15 + years and we always had a great relationship. We now rent to a different family and they have been renting from us approx. 8 years without issues. Our log cabin was built in 1950 by my father and uncle for their father, and my parents bought it from my grandparents in the early 60’s. I came here every summer until I was 12 years old and so did my children, as well as my siblings and their kids. The place is old and has not changed much over the years, hence rustic, but we keep it clean and attend basic maintenance issues. The property is set up as described on the site and in the photos, 3 bedrooms (1 queen, 1 double and 1 with 2 twins), we also have 2 single daybeds in the dining area and 1 pull-out sofa (double) in the living room. The living areas are very spacious with plenty of room to move around. We also supply all of the cleaning products and supplies needed to prepare for departure. Our tenants are on the honor system and need to fulfill the standard terms of the rental contract (as stated below) in order to prepare for the next tenant, otherwise the tenant will forfeit some or all of their security deposit. “The TENANT shall leave premises clean and ready for the next tenant, with all surfaces washed, vacuumed and dusted, and deck swept. All bed and bath linens must be washed, folded and stored in bins or placed on the beds. The fireplace and outdoor grill must be cleaned and ready for the next tenant. All trash must be double bagged, stored in rubbish receptacles provided and stored in shed during your stay. Trash must be brought to the Stockbridge landfill at the time of your departure, using the pass provided by the LANDLORD or taken with you. .. Any violation, in whole or in part, of this lease shall be grounds to keep the deposit. “ Last year was our first year on VRBO and 7 of the 8 tenants rented without incident. We did have one tenant that did not dispose of their rubbish according to the contract and subsequently forfeited $75.00 of the $200.00 security deposit. The animals got into the trash receptacles and spread the trash all over the lawn. The next tenants to arrive cleaned it up and I forwarded the $75.00 to them for the imposition, along with their $200.00 security deposit.
