Lake Charlevoix Condo

  • 4 of 5

This is a very lovely, comfortable condo. Our family enjoyed relaxing in the spacious living room and on the large deck. There is plenty of space. The condo is reasonably well-appointed. We especially appreciate the fact that our dogs can be with us. The only downside is the "yard" on the lake side. Needs some terracing and fill.

Owner's Response: Lake Michigan, and consequently, Lake Charlevoix have risen nearly two feet in the last year and a half. It has made for even better swimming in Lake Charlevoix, but has admittedly affected our beach area. We have been moving a lot of sand over the last few weeks in an effort to address the minor concern expressed. It looks like the water levels may have peaked, and if so, while our beach may be smaller than it was two years ago, it still leads to great swimming in one of America's best lakes.

This is a great vacation home, located on a perfect spot on beautiful Lake Charlevoix!! It's also very close to Boyne City, pretty much within walking distance. We really liked the fact that this home was close to just about everything - grocery store, restaurants, bars, shopping, ice cream shops, boat launch - everything!!! So convenient!! As for the waterfront.....It was great to have a beach to hang out on, for sunbathing and bon fires. Loved that!! And the water was exactly as we had hoped, since we were traveling with a dog who loves to swim - it was clear, sandy bottom, no rocks and shallow for a bit. It'd be ideal for children as well. We really enjoyed the deck which is outfitted with a plethora of furniture. And the condo is wonderful!!! It's quite large, so it had plenty of room for our large family. I think the kitchen is better stocked than my own kitchen at home!!! It had everything we needed, including a very handy large ice maker. Having stayed at many VRBO properties, I can say this was one of the cleanest. You can really tell the owners take a lot of pride in their vacation home. We had a fabulous time!! The views from the deck are so beautiful, so relaxing.....we will definitely go back!!!!

About Jim

We grew up in Livonia, and have been vacationing in Northern Michigan since we married 35 years ago. We finally decided that owning our own place was something that appealed to us and began looking in the fall of 2012. We hadn't planned on looking at condos or townhomes, and in fact, looked at only one--this one.

Jim purchased this townhome in 2013

Why Jim chose Boyne City

Lake Charlevoix, the proximity to Boyne City, the golf, the skiing, and the fact that it is in the heart of the best part of 'Up North' made this property too good to pass up. We are busy putting our personal touches on the home as we enjoy everything ablout it.

What makes this townhome unique

Unlike many of the vacation condos in northern Michigan, our home is not part of a big development with shared amenities, no guarantee of water views and the other issues inherent with such complexes. Enjoy more privacy and your own beach and dock.

Property is waterfront

Historic Boyne City is a quaint little town on the southeast end of Lake Charlevoix. It features restaurants to suit even the most discriminating palates, local bars with summertime rooftop entertainment, unique shops and many local events such as the popular farmer's market, Friday night 'Stroll the Streets' (June thru Labor Day) and free Wednesday 'Evening in the Gazebo' concerts. In addition, summer in Boyne City means cycling , jogging, all forms of water sports (boating, fishing, jet-skiing, kayaking, swimming, etc.), hiking, mountain-biking, zip-lining at Boyne Mountain, and lots of golf. There are over 40 championship golf courses within an hour drive.

Fall brings not only great golf and spectacular color tours, but also the Fall Harvest Festival.

The winter season in Boyne City means lots of snow and related activities. There is skiing at nearby Boyne Mountain. In addition, Boyne Highlands and Nub's Knob are about 30 minutes away. Snowmobilers have room to run full tilt on nearby trails. Kids and grown-ups alike will love the sledding and skating at Avalanche Mountain Park. Fishermen can, of course, cut a hole in the lake and try to catch a nice Walleye dinner.

Finally, for over 50 years springtime has brought the mid-May National Morel Mushroom Festival, and a beautful reawakening of local trees and flowers.

Boyne City is located in the heart of the best part of Northern Michigan and allows visitors to enjoy not only it's local attractions but is close to destinations such as Charlevoix, Traverse City, Pestoskey, Harbor Springs and even a day trip to Mackinac Island.
