'Hui Pu' 'Coming Together' Welcome to our Polynesian Style Beach Front Home & Cottage. Located on the Beautiful Waialea Bay in the Puako area. This will be an unforgettable vacation for your family!

A secluded, Polynesian style property right on the famous white sand beach of Waialea Bay. This one of a kind vacation property includes two air-conditioned homes nestled in a quiet local neighborhood. The main home features three bedrooms, three baths, living room, dining room, and kitchen, with one of the bedrooms having a separate private entrance.

The cottage is connected to the main home by a lanai and gazebo and offers an additional bedroom, bath, kitchen and of course views of the ocean from decks off the living room and bedroom areas.

The homes are surrounded by tropical flora, and a quiet stretch of white sand at your back door that beckons you. Our Cottage is not rented separately.

There is a 3 night minimum stay.

No smoking or pets

Purchasing damage protection ($99.00) is required.

Ideal place for a family vacation!

We rent a house every year for a one week family vacation with our kids and grandkids. We aim for a place on a beach in a beautiful location. This house delivered. The beach is gorgeous. The house was very nice. It had more kitchen utensils, spices, beach chairs/toys and other items then we had at other rentals. That was nice surprise. We ate all our meals outside on the deck either on the picnic tables or the big round table. We all had a great time and the house was part of the reason.

If I had to say anything detracting, I would say the contract for the house seemed a little overwhelming. I had not experienced such an ominous extensive set of threats of being kicked out of a rental that had to be signed by every member staying at the house. We were also required to purchase an insurance policy at $100. Perhaps this is the contract you see for all rentals on the island. Not a big deal, but don't be surprised.

Didn't want to leave...

First impressions of the house were a bit disappointing, but by the end of the trip I didn't want to leave. The location of the house really grows on you!!! We had a rough start, as the lock box for the key used a different phone number then we expected, and we were stuck outside or an hour- panicking . Couldn't find the owners contact info (write this down before you leave) . While waiting outside I was wondering if they were expecting us as the deck was dirty and left my feet black after walking on it.

We settled in, and the house is really quite charming- just needs a good and thorough cleaning!. Lots of trees, birds flitting about on the morning. The beach outside has lots of trees, makes it feel like there are many small private areas which is great. Also made for fun perches to look out over the water. Saw whales a few times from the beach at a distance. The swell was up, but our last couple of days were ok to snorkel and we saw quite a few fish and with better visibility farther out, , we even saw a manta ray. The location was perfect for us, I loved the immediate access to a beach where the kids could play.

While out, the owners stopped by to apologize for the lock box misunderstanding which was very appreciated, and they gave us a gift card to lava lava beach club- this meal ended up being my best on the island (I'm a vegetarian).. There are some odds and ends that were available to use such as.chairs, kids toys, some old snorkel equip. Loved the use of a big washer and dryer.

Overall, lovely house, the architecture attracts quite a few looks from people aalking on the beach! Would definitely stay again,

Wonderfully unique. Plenty of room for our family of 9( 19 months old, 3 & 9 years plus 6 adults)..

We had room to spend time together and also quiet time alone. The beach was beautiful but the water was unfortunately very rough. We had been told this is one of the best snorkeling beaches because of the variety of fish. We hope to return someday and have better luck for snorkeling. Mother Nature, what can you do?

We found plenty of adventures for the entire family, all ages included. Hiking, swimming under a waterfall, snorkeling near Kona, luau, volcanoes, and also driving around the island in awe of the varied landscape.

I highly recommend this property. The few minor issues that happened were quickly, professionally and graciously taken care of.

We have rented vacation properties several times though vrbo.com and have ALWAYS been happy.

Best House on the Beach!

Best house on the beach! This is what a local person on the beach told one of the people staying in the house. A lot of the other homes had landscaping or were set further back to provide privacy. I enjoyed that we were able to have a view of the ocean through the trees. Sometimes people walking by would stop and stare, and we would smile and wave to each other. And it’s not like they were disruptive. The style of the house and view from the beach draws people in. As people have mentioned the pics don’t really do it justice. Snorkeling right off the beach in front of house and along the north side was very good.

I stayed in the smaller house and I could really hear the ocean at night. It has a small kitchen and was well stocked with dishes and pans in good condition. The extra full size refrigerator came in handy due to our group size. The bed upstairs was comfortable and the bathroom had a tub/shower combination.

The main house had the rest of the bedrooms and main living room and kitchen. There were two large cupboards filled with every pot and pan you could think of. Again all in good condition. The grill had been replaced and we used it several times. My boys stayed in the back bedroom which is separate from the main house and you walked down the porch to enter the main house.

The design that went into the home was very thoughtful. All the doors were sliding glass with screened doors so they could all be opened to provide ventilation. Also, there were fans in every room if needed. While at the house we frequently hung out in the pavilion. It was nice to be outside but have some shade. The washer and dryer were in a separate building in the back of the property. We were provided more than enough beach towels for everyone.

We didn’t have any issues with the neighbors, and we tried to abide by the house rules of not being too loud after 10PM. Of course with all with all the swimming and exploring most of us were pretty tired by the end of the evening.

The description of the house doesn’t mention the 2 beach showers on the side of each house. They were great. Had hot water and good pressure. Good for washing off all the sand. We had the landscapers come by during our stay to remove the trash and fix a sprinkler. The only excitement were paramedics asking to come through the property to help someone on the beach. Fortunately they were okay.

Bottom line is that we all loved the house and location. I hope to return.

Great Location

This property is located on one of the best beaches on the Big Island. The property its self is large and there's plenty of room for a family of 7-8 also there are two structures in the property so if you have teenagers or extended family it's perfect. Overall, the home was well equipped with the exception of an worn out but fixable BBQ and the concerige service and gift basket both were a nice touch. However, there seems to be a communication problem with the managers of the property as we did not receive a code to enter the gated property which resulted in our family being harassed by the belligerent neighbour.

The home was very clean but it needs maintenance as on the last couple of days of our trip the upper bathtub/shower started leaking through the roof into the kitchen. As I mentioned before the BBQ was in disrepair but we fixed it and the beach equipment, specifically chairs were also pretty worn so we ended up renting our own. The outdoor area was clean as they use a landscaping company to keep the place tidy we were told by the manager that the garbage would be taken care of by the landscapers but we only saw them on the day we arrived, as a result the garbage was not picked up for two weeks. We are not sure as to why there was so many communication problems during our stay perhaps it was the Christmas break that caught everyone off guard but I have to mention that after the 2nd event with the neighbour I called the property manager and she apologized on behalf of the neighbour and acknowledged that she had forgotten to send us the information for the gate. For our departure I sent a email to the manager asking what we could do to assist the cleaners and we followed the simple instructions I had sent her a reply indicating our concerns garbage and leaking roof but I did not receive a response.

I must emphasize how great this location is and we believe that with the proper attention to both the administrative and physical deficiences of this property it would be a fantastic experience. We did not focus on the negative while we were there and I suppose I could have made more calls to the manager regarding the garbage, the neighbour, beach equipment, leaking roof and BBQ but because we had our elderly parents with us we wanted to mitigate the problems by correcting what we could ourselves and enjoy the moment, which we did.

We think it's a great property but more attention to detail is needed.

Magical

Most amazing stay-cation we have ever had. House and yard was immaculate. Plenty of room for our family. We especially enjoyed the deck and the layout of the entire place. The house is stocked with everything you need to have a wonderful time . We can not thank you enough for everything. We would highly recommend anyone who enjoys relaxing on the beach, watching sunsets, and family time to stay here. Well worth every penny. :) Breathtaking view of the beach from the Master Bedroom as well as the Ohana (Mother in Law) More beautiful than we expected.
